I hope they expand on this, though I doubt he was a slave - brands on "property" are typically placed somewhere that won't impede their physical capabilities. A brand like his is particularly cruel and wouldn't be done simply to mark ownership, but would more likely be something done to him out of retribution for something. Given that we've been told that faunus are subject to discrimination and inequality, we need look no further than the real world to see examples of racists disfiguring those they hate and getting away with it because those people are not afforded equal rights - he probably worked for the SDC (or was the child of someone who did) and was subjected to being disfigured after he or someone that cared for him stepped out of line.
Given that Ilia wasn't immediately branded as being SDC property after being born to SDC miners and that we've also thus far never seen another faunus branded in such a highly visibly and debilitating way, I'm pretty certain that Adam's condition was an extreme measure undertaken by a racist SDC boss rather than a mark intended to signify him as property.

Dr Boom This is late, but the difference was that she used to immediately activate her semblance, getting a small power boost, but the more damage she takes before activation, the bigger the boost because she takes more damage. She now waits to use her semblance until she needs it, and her enemies don’t expect such power surges
@Dr Boom robots can't have an aura projection, yang's arm. However is a conduit for aura, allowing it to be more durable. Also there's quite a bit of time between the black trailer and now.

"This is why team RWBY was wrong to do it this way" Well, yes and no. Yes, they were violating a LOT of laws, but more than that they were poking a person who was more unstable than they realized, which is the big 'no'. Cordovin made the much bigger wrong move. She was putting out an insane amount of negativity herself, but even worse, she broke protocol and deployed the jaeger rather than did what she was supposed to and launched a couple fighters. Ignoring the military reasons to deploy the fighters, they wouldn't have scared ALL OF ARGUS with their deployment. Fighters coming and going would be normal, heck, fighters chasing off hostiles is probably normal. But deploying a jaeger? That would terrify all of Argus, because they would wonder if there was already an attack underway. Combine with Cordovin ranting over the loudspeakers, then the battle against RWBY shaking the whole area, the whole city was probably in a state of dread waiting for the Grimm to attack before the Grimm were even paying attention. Cordovin's extreme reaction to to the theft contributed FAR more to the problem then RWBY directly, who, if the plan had worked correctly, would have been long gone before she even knew and could do anything about it, and even if not, RWBY couldn't have expected her to take such an extreme measure to stop them, with them assuming she was just an intrusive bureaucrat and not ACTUALLY as unhinged as she turned out to be.
EDIT: And yeah, I know, they still stole from the military. This is a legal vs moral argument considering their mission, and again Cordovin doesn't do herself any favors. A licensed and high ranking foreign officer (Qrow, drunk as he is) has approached her claiming an important need to speak with her superior, or at the very least send a friggin message to him, and rather than at least check to see if Ironwood recognizes the name, she just blows them all off and tells them to go away. People have been court-martialed for failing to deliver key information or take action because they couldn't be bothered to take 5 minutes to ask for confirmation. Even with the towers down, it's not a big deal for someone in her position to look at a random grunt and say 'take a message to General Ironwood'.

Take out shields, shoot out glass and have qrow fly in and take over cockpit
easier than trying to shoot a target while staring down a cannon and didn't damage the mech too much

while Cordovin takes the slightly larger share of blame ... team RWBY+ has a lot of responsibility as well first of all why does the airship need to go back into sensor range? why not find an area just outside of the range and meat up there, they could have at least a line about them considering it, but the only viable safe location was where they were....
The second issue is their tunnel vision while they were attacked and need to fight back, especially once Jaune brought up the obvious purpose of the mech, not one of them even bough up that disabling it may not be the best idea as it would leave the city without an important defense .
@@3113mac That is an answer to a problem that no one in the show saw coming. RWBY was too busy dealing with being attacked to consider the fight could attract the Grimm and concern themselves with having the jaeger instantly ready to fight after they won, they would figure that the mech could be repaired and refit before it was needed, if they even had the breathing room to consider anything beyond survial. And beyond that, your plan in all likelihood wouldn't work. Cordovin is many things, a madwoman, a poor leader, an uber nationalist, and strategically incompetent, but she is TACTICALLY keen. In the actual thick of a fight she is very skilled and knows to observe her enemies and catches onto all their plans. Even Ruby's plan only succeeded because of how suicidal it was, and Cordovin STILL visibly knows exactly is going on the moment Ruby jumps up the barrel. The only time she wasn't able to keep up was when they were all going in every direction and could keep several people behind her at any given time. That glass is very tanky, and it would take a concentrated effort to bring it down, plenty of time for her to realize what they're doing and counter it, even with something as simple as keeping an arm moving in front of her at all times, but we don't know what all it has to protect the window, since they never did much to warrant the use of countermeasures, and while she stuck to visual targeting there's nothing to indicate she cant close a blast plate and use cameras if the conpod is being targeted, that's a large window and a Grimm could easily go for it too, and that mech's likely been there for a long time now.
To be fair, Arnold, they weren't planning to have an all out battle. That was Cordovin's fault. They were just trying to steal the ship without drawing attention (this one falls on Adam getting in the way). If everything had gone to plan, there would be no negativity or distractions to allow Grimm infiltration.

She ignored calls from her own base about the attack now the mech is out of commission. And Yang and Adam literally HAD to kill Adam. He's stalked them across continents with the one goal of murdering them. They even said walk away and he kept coming. He literally wouldn't have stopped he'd that delusional. They couldn't arrest him either they were in the woods and the fucker would not go down.

*EDIT:* Look, it's understandable why many are salty about this development. The way the writers handled Adam was terrible and wanted to known more about this character. The end of his arc was lackluster, from others's perspective. So their denial is more... acceptable.
- His aura was depleted.
- Stabbed on both sides. First stab was in the lung or near a lung, second against the chest. Or near the heart.
- Upon removing the blade, quickly suffered from blood loss.
- His back collided against the rocks, crunching his back bones.
- He fell from a cliff.
- HE FELL ON WATER. Thus directly drowning him in the process.
- This happened during winter, meaning that cold water could easily make his body fall into hypothermia.

ADAM IS ALIVE!!!!! The situation is similar to Storm Shadow in G.I Joe: The Rise Of Cobra. If the ninja survived in the sequel, then Adam can do the same.

Idk whether to be happy or sad that the soundtrack is so on point, im sure a fake fan like ffg will say its bad (because everything is) Edit: it's fine to not like the show, but pretending to like it to deflect criticism when you cannot give a single compliment to a show without 23128 backhanded insults alongside it, and you go out of your way to make negative comments to the point of delving into purely subjective critiques or worse still falsifying factual claims you don't count as a fan. (Furthermore you can criticism a show and still be a fan, semblance of sanity and Arnold both do this well. The rwby hatedom is a hatedom and Arnold is just too sweet to be able to tell.
I’ve seen a lot of people harping on about Blake & Yang being “murderers.”
All’s fair in love & war. They gave the Adam several chances to walk away. He refused every time. He was easily holding his own against both of them. Dude was a serious, irrational threat. Even with his sword & semblance removed from the equation, everyone is vulnerable right now & there are still 2 blades on the field, one of which he was rushing for. He was still a heavy threat.
I’ve seen people say “knock him out” & “detain him.” That is far easier said than done. Especially with this guy. A knockout requires either a perfect blow to the head, or choking him out. Both are difficult to achieve against a skilled opponent & both leave you vulnerable if you screw it up. Detaining requires a distinct advantage on the enemy, of which Blake & Yang did not have.
There’s also the thematic shit of everything involved in Adam’s downfall & death being of his own creation & doing, including breaking the sword into the 2 blades that would finish him; Blake, the guilty runaway, sticking this through to the bitter end and finishing off her greatest demon & the personification of everything she regrets, from the White Fang to Yang’s injury; and Yang, who was distrustful after Blake ran away, standing with her and defeating her own personal demon & the source of her PTSD, (which was present through the whole fight, just wasn’t debilitating, just like how it never had been before).
There is also all of that.
This is combat. Leave your plans & pleasantries at the door.

Especially when he made this a fight to the death. He stalked Blake during the entire trip and intentionally waited until she was alone because he was there to kill her. We know he was murderous and beyond reason because he already murdered several of his own people in this very season. RT was brave enough to portray the truth about intimate partner violence and the entitlement mentality involved.
MrXILIKEBACON Hypocrites? I can’t follow how you came to that conclusion. In both the Adam & Cordovin fights, our heroes did not fire the first shots, did not want a fight to begin with, were on the defensive, & gave their opponents multiple opportunities to stop the fight & walk away.
Both of these are situations where the instigators escalated things themselves & made their own defeats happen. And when the Grimm attack happened as an unfortunate side effect to both fights, our heroes pulled up their bootstraps & cleaned up the mess they helped happen; an admirable trait.
Also, none of Team RWBY, JNR, Qrow, or Maria have scolded anyone or shown signs of being against killing their enemies. Their negative reactions to learning that Salem cannot be specifically destroyed implies that killing her was their understanding the whole time. The show never established any of them to be moral paragons. Just look at their weapons! Blades & blunt force instruments!

@@tryewa They didn't directly kill a single person, I'd say. Those grunts had Aura protecting them. If they got stampeded or torn apart by the Grimmin the tunnels afterwards, well, they're the ones who brought those Grimm there, they reap what they sow.
Not that it makes team RWBY+Oobleck+Zwei totally absolved of guilt in them dying, but there's a massive difference between being the one to strike the killing blow and just putting them in a situation that killed them incidentally during combat that was initiated by those who died.
There's no body no death, and then there is context clues.
He had no aura, no sword, no semblance, stabbed twice in the chest, broken spine, and dragged by a current.

I personally don't see team rwby in the wrong for trying to steal the ship, when Cordo could have easily arrested them WITHOUT using the mech. She just wanted to prove a point and in the end feed her ego, it was her fault that the mech got destroyed.
Team rwby also could have easily just run away, and regroup later with the ship, also even if they couldn't just because Cordovan could have not gone with the mech they're still breaking international law

Yeah they killed Adam but honestly when he showed up I kinda expected it and I'll say now I'd much rather it be him then Blake or Yang. I've seen a few other reactions now where people are just complaining "they killed an actual living person so now they are the monsters". But I've been expecting a moment like this since volume 3 when the whole Cinder and Pyrrha climax. Adam is wanted criminal and known murderer and its almost certain he's not gonna suddenly break down and have a change of heart. If they let him go again he'll just come back, throw him in jail he will find some way to escape and then come back. I have the same opinions with Cinder, she's not gonna be talked into changing shes either gonna have to be killed or just keep coming back until she finally gets Ruby.
That's something I don't understand. People have gone on saying "they should have let Adam go" but they tried. And Adam wasn't going to go till someone was dead.

That's the thing; even if we ignore everything he's done, the lives he's ruined and cut short, the pain he's inflicted on others, his torment and obsession with Blake...
At his core, the only thing Adam Taurus had left to bring into the world is more pain.
So even if I were to argue that he didn't deserve to die, you'd get no argument from me that he needed to be killed. The same way you put down an animal that's gone completely rabid, if you'll pardon the metaphor; because he has nothing left but pain. It's all he has left, and all he can contribute.
Honestly for me, it's not that they killed him... I mean it is kinda that they killed him, he had so much more potential as a a character.
More so its that... it never comes up again. They don't dwell on it much once its done. No conversation in 7 about whether it was the right call, or any consideration for there now being actual blood on their hands. Just... he's dead. Oh well.

Even if team RWBY was in the wrong, I would say Cordoven is more in the wrong: using military tech meant for Grimm in order to attack (and potentially kill) children?

Yeah she reacted disproportionately. Some young Huntsmen from a rival nation stole a transporter to enter her country illegally. So. Instead of sending a squadron after them to reign them in, as would be appropriate, she took that damn mech. And when that failed, was going to mobilise everything else in order to wipe them off the map. What the CRWBY did was wrong, but what Cordoven did was worse. If it weren't for her pride, they'd still have the mech to handle the Grimm, and her be back of base to coordinate the defence of the city, where she's needed. CRWBY did something that was reckless and desperate, but Cordoven just abjectly failed at her duty because some kids and an old woman insulted her pride.

Cordovin was killing to to birds with one stone, first with showing the power of there defenses to the people and second she also took care of trespassers who also stole a military aircraft and then they resisted arrest. I'm pretty sure they could get 40 years in prison... Oh wait they now also killed a person... Guess how many years that is?

While RWBY does have the fault of breaking the law for their reasons, Cordovin flew off the handle too far.

Adam’s dead because the story doesn’t need him anymore. He’s been rejected by the White Fang, and Yang and Blake are over him. Unless they intended a character change or growth, he no longer serves the larger narrative. He’s dead.
Charles Hockenbury Thank you! I know Arnold said he doesn’t really believe he’s alive still, but it’s been really annoying trying to explain this to people. Just like you said, the story didn’t have a place for him anymore, the only other reason to keep him around would be for backstory but that also risks him overstaying his welcome. And they can still give more of Adam even though he’s dead, kinda like Sienna.
I understand people wanted more from him especially now that he had some growth, but I feel like this was always the plan for him. Adam was always a creepy possessive stalker who was here to make 2 characters grow from what I could tell.

Team rwby were not in the wrong. The plan was not to fight at all, it was to sneak out. Cordo pulled the mech. If she'd just done the sane thing and scrambled the fighters, not only would they still have the mech, but they might have even successfully captured team Rwby; at the very least captured the rogue ship.

I really like how they did Adam's death. It was a great fight with a lot of emotional impact. I don't really want to know more about Adam anyways. I'm a "less is more" kind of person. I think the mystery about his life is what makes him interesting. If he comes back I won't be mad, but I'm fine with him staying dead. Plus, bumblebee is basically cannon now. What more could you ask for?

Team RWBY 'are' a bit in the wrong for their plan, but really, Cordovin is FAR more in the wrong lol; she literally caused the whole situation in the first place. Not just the fight itself because she refused to be reasonable, but the subsequent Grimm Invasion 'because' she was so patriotic that she had to bring out a giant mech for half-a-dozen people (which is not only overkill, but completely unnecessary)

Yeah, in no way did she ever see that they were powerful enough to warent a mech. And even if she did know something of maria, she is an old woman who cant really fight. The most that she had seen of their skill prior to the fight is a bit of manipulation and weiss ability to knock people out (and tbh it aint that hard) So there was no evidence to show that she would have required the mech to take them down, the only reason she pulled it out was toshow her ego (be patriotic)or legit comit a crime herself by murdering them

Adam had a cool design and that's it - other than the Black Trailer and Adam Trailer, Adam never had any character definition to make him a relatable or likable, so I truly don't get why there are so many people out there that deemed themselves "Adam fans". Yeah, I really like his designs, but he had no more depth than Junior and nobody is calling for him to make a comeback. He had the potential to be a great antagonist, but they threw that out the window the moment he opened his mouth in Volume 3 and they never even attempted to recover it.

In regards to the crew. Yes, they are technically breaking the law. However, they are on a mission to protect humanity and tried to reason with Caroline. This isnt really the first or the first show where a hero has broken some kind of law, or defied an authority figure, to save the day, especially when the lawman/woman is as obstructive and obnoxious as she is. I mean, I dont think anyone was complaining when characters on Avatar did that kind of stuff.
Also, their plan was to sneak a ship under the radar so nobody would notice, had it not been for Adam, it would have worked.
As for Cordo being somebody who is "just doing their job".
-SHE CHOSE to ignore the gang and blindly dismiss them, while making a racist remark towards Blake, instead of being reasonable enough to just call Ironwood and confirm the story at least. And even if it was within her right, they couldnt just stay there and wait on her since the relic wouldve attracted Grimm anyway.
-SHE CHOSE to get in that ridiculous mech, go on a rampage and terrify civilians, instead of just sending some troops to apprahend the gang. And I find it hard to see how any of their actions wouldve scared the people more than Caroline's.
And speaking of which, Im pretty sure that Caroline and her troops were gonna cause a Grimm attack on their own anyway. Between their tower disrupting the city grid and blaming Terras group, Saph subtly begging the gang to stay in Argus as huntsman, Cordoven constantly boasting about how the other kingdoms are inferior and that the Argus citizens are ingrates and the possibility that this isnt the first time she ignored a civilians concerns, it would be reasonable assume that the Atlas military were in the process of wearing out their welcome from the start. They wouldve been rubbing people the wrong way, which wouldve let to outrage, then negative emotions, and then Grimm
As risky as their plan was, they really didnt have any other options.
-Reasoning with Carolina would have taken more than 1000
-Staying in Argus wasnt good since if the growing tension didnt cause a Grimm attack, the Relic would have eventually.
-Going to another town was out since that may be the only town with a way and they BARELY made it there in one piece.
-Surrendering to Carolina waas out since she either would have locked them up to rot or publicly executed them.
They had to prioritize, and they DID try to be as precise and careful as possible
Yeah it is partially of consequence of Ruby's team and Jaunes's team but cordovan shouldn't have token out that Mech, so in a way it is cordovan fault also. And she didn't listen to Ruby when she said we didn't have to do this she aimed her cannon at her anyway.
Man, I just cannot believe people complaining about Adam's death and talking about his potential is everywhere. Why can't you guys separate thw Adam of your headcanons and the canon Adam? He has always been a psychotic, murderous, abusive asshole, he just got worse and worse because he's obssesed with Blake, he said himself it was because she hurt him more than anyone else. Lets look at this from a storytelling perspective. Adam was a great swordsman of that there is no doubt, but as a martial artist to me one thing was obvious Adam had gone psychotic and that means no focus. I am also a war veteran and I can tell from experience that if you lose focus in the middle of a battle you can kiss your butt goodbye.
Now as to what Ruby and crew did was it right to steal, in normal circumstances NO, but again from experience on the battlefield, sometime the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one. Ruby and her team know things the others do not know. The importance of this knowledge is huge, unfortunately only Ironwood knows I am sure Winter suspects but ..... so you have knowledge that could insure man kinds survival (that includes faunus) what would you do, what would you do.....
3 Years late, but when his Semblance goes from 'strong enough to completely kill someone through their Aura' as per Miles Q&A , to 'Barely scratches a prosthetic arm that didn't even have Aura covering it', there s a problem.

Cordovan was for sure in the wrong with her reaction. She noticed a plane got stolen so instead of scrambling fighters to shoot it down let’s send out the best weapon we have. It’s as if a US fighter got stolen and instead of intercepting it, it’s nuked out of the sky. Sure it’ll get the job done but it is a massive waste of resources and much too overkill for something such as that. That’s my 2 cents thou.

When I first saw Adam's "death" all I could do was roll my eyes and say good riddance. I really hope he is gone for good because if they try to redeem him it will feel forced and if he comes back without being redeemed it will be annoying with him continuing to chase Blake and Yang around. I do agree with Arnold on the fact that team RWBY was in the wrong their attempt to steal the plane, but this situation is only this dire because Cordovan went too far by bringing out that giant robot to deal with just a few people.

Being humiliated by many ppl including Blake and the white fang just further fueled that. There was no possible outcome where he would choose to stop with his revenge. If that did happen that would completely be out of character for him and really randomly out of place.
He had so much potential from the trailer until Volume 3.
Then his character just spiralled into the exboyfriend after Monty died.

if Cordo was a reasonable person, she would've sent planes after them. She wouldn't have used a huge mecha that scared the people of Argus even BEFORE she began to fight team RWBY, which got worse when she broadcasted her screaming that caused tremors to spread all the way to Argus. They were in the wrong of stealing, but they had no other option, and if Adam hadn't been there, no one would've known they even stole the ship. It was just as much of a risk to just wait in Argus considering what the relic is. Cordo also refused to contact Ironwood despite them requesting her to- and then she ignored her army's attempts to contact her to warn about the grim.
And I sure hope Adam died. I think we might hear more about him from maybe Blake, or other faunas who knew him in Atlas. And considering the brand he had, we might even meet the people who did that to him. In the end however, he was a wanted terrorist who stalked them and hurt them and fully intended to kill them. All three's auras were gone and he would have kept going after them- as you saw, he dove after Blake's broken weapon (which was why both Yang and Blake dove for it too) instead of giving up. A sane person would have given up when they have no aura, no weapon and are outnumbered. He didn't. So he died, and considering how important it was to Blake and Yang, he will likely stay dead.
And I rly do hope this means Ruby get to use her eyes on the leviathan. If nothing else, she could possibly wipe out all the manticores and stuff with her eyes, and if she pushed herself, turn the leviathan into stone. OR, yes, Ozpin could possibly show back up again and use his magic.
I think Qrow, Maria and Oscar are the only ones with their auras still? I mean Oscar hasn't even unlocked his, if I remember correctly, but still...

I took me a rewatch an 9 months later to realize that at 15:39 the sound was Adam's spine breaking when he hit the rock. 2 stab wounds in chest area, a broken spine, and falling into water where he can drown. Adam is, for sure, dead.

I agree,so many people are upset that Adam is dead and he won't get any back story to his character. But they kinda forget that multiple characters in other series have had their backstories revealed even though they were never introduced or killed.
They can’t develop him, because they already ruined him, killed him. Even if they go into flashbacks and shit CRWBY has done far too much damage to him. Turned him into a generic Disney villain, angry ex boyfriend, instead of what was set up pre-Vol. 3. I gave them a chance after seeing his Vol. 6 trailer. I thought they might go back to what he was & was set up to be before Vol. 4. But no. They did a face reveal, set up a potential future conflict with said face reveal, and than they killed him because f**k trying to write a decent character in a villain! 😤

In defense of Team RWBY and the others, this isn't entirely their fault. As Qrow pointed out, the logical, rational thing for Cordo to do would have been to scramble fighters and take them into custody, or shoot them down if they were really bloodthirsty.
Cordo is the one who decided to use a sledgehammer to squash 'ants,' in her words. She also gave them no chance to surrender, shooting to kill from the get go. Faced with that, what choice did our heroines and heroes have but to fight back to save their lives? Not to mention Cordo using the loudspeaker of the mech, so that everyone could hear her, no doubt fed into the fear the citizens were feeling.
I'm not saying our protagonists are completely blameless, but honestly, more of the blame should go to Cordo, in my opinon.

Everyone’s at fault. Stealing a ship is wrong and yeah they had the best intention. So was Cordova. Ruby’s right she does look down on people and used a Grimm fighter over ship because of her pride. Qrow mentioned the protocol would be to send ships to take it down. But Cordova never gave the time of day didn’t even listen except to her own pride. Also to be fair, If the plan did work, not stress no Grimm also less stress if she went with prodicall. But anyway both were Cordova’s pride and causing more stress to a single ship theft of KIDS and though well intentioned Ruby for stealing. That’s my two cents.
I wonder if since we are on our way to atlas, we will see what happened to Adam through a flashback. Along the lines of meeting a new faunas mine worker who tells stories of what an infamous taskmaster has done over the years. Maybe this person knew Adam and they bring up his story perhaps because it was the best example of the taskmaster's cruelty? I figure they could introduce a new mini villain that way as well as cover Adam's history a bit more.

It was most likely scrapped due to 1) the coat being the same as Ozma's when he and Salem ruled, 2) he was levitating like in the scene with the Nevermore origami, and 3) people were praising him just like the said origami scene
I don't know; I'd sooner blame the attraction to Grimm from the relic, and Cordovin's overreaction than Ruby and co herself.
I mean yeah, they are breaking the laws and they should be punished. (Though likely won't be). But Cordovin is definitely overreacting, using a huge freaking mech the way she is.
When Ruby gave Cordovin a second chance, that's when I feel that she should have taken it, should have taken her second chance and tried to negioate something between them, but nope! Big mech and flexing your love for the military is seemingly enough.
I love how zero fucks are given, though; and Ruby actually goes inside the arm of the giant mech to destroy it, that shot of her is so great, love it.
I think that even Cordovin was impressed (Even if she didn't want to admit it).
I know that Blake's character gets some hate; but I've always loved her character, I could see the potential to her growing, and it's definitely come a long way, and I love it. She was for me anyway, my personal favorite character in the series; even though I know that's often not a popular opinion or popularly expressed opinion.
Yang I love you, but that line about Adam pretending was a bit much. You don't know if Adam was pretending, if anything I'd say that Adam did care for the
faunus fight and even for Blake; but his hatred for humans led him into a dark path, to the point of his ideals getting warped.
That team work! That freaking team work from Yang and Blake vs Adam was absolutely amazing, I loved it so much.
Yang's semblance looks so bad ass in the new animation, like her hair is actually on fire, love it! And when Yang grabs Adam's weapon like that, go Yang!
I know a lot of people weren't expecting Blake and Yang to kill him, and on some level I wasn't either; I expected: Being arrested, being killed by someone else, running away again, I was hoping that they'd be the ones to kill him. (Kind of like I hope that Ruby is the one to kill Cinder).
But I wasn't really expecting it, but I'm definitely happy, as weird and crazy as that might sound. They now have to get over killing someone; and yes it's
Adam and he was horrible and did horrible things, but they still killed someone, something that neither one of them has done; or knowingly done.
So yeah, as strange as it is; I'm happy he's dead and that they were the ones to do it.
And of course he falls from the edge, that was a bit over done trope, but eh; not much you can do there.

The way I see the whole blaming team rwby thing is that they must do this mission or Salem wins and humanity is wiped out or enslaved at best, they tried doing it the right way and going through cordovin to get to atlas (twice) by telling her they have valuable info and things that ironwood really needs to hear but she basically tells them to fuck off and doesn’t even try to contact ironwood to check the legitimacy of there statements

From an anatomical standpoint, Adam is dead with a capital "DEAD AS FU**". Literally ran him straight through the chest, directly through the sternum. Even if she went a little low, that clipped his heart. Yang went through his back, collapsing his left lung. That look on his face before he fell off the ledge was shock (the medical kind, not the kind we felt), as the internal bleeding finally caught up to him. Given that he had no response to hitting the rocks aside from ragdolling, he was either dead before he hit, or dead on impact. I am 100% certain that he was a corpse when he hit the water.
Now don't get me wrong Adam was a jerk who eventually should have died and all but, he was a character with a lot of potential. What if he joined Salems crew or had rejoined cinder and neo? We saw the
scar S.D.C. burned into his face, it should have been built upon rather then killing him outright. At the very least to prolong his life until Blake and yang reconciled completely or had really earned it. Or came to some kind of deeper understanding. Yes, the best way was for Adam to die but, I think they picked the wrong time. The only way I can picture him coming back is in a repeat cinder case which would be even worse.
I think we will hear about Adam's story from Blake, or maybe other faunas they meet in Atlas. They might even run into the people who branded him. I doubt this is the end for his story, it's simply just the end for his character ^^ or so I hope.
@@GemiDonnie You pretend too much for the writers to actually give a character a proper backstory. In 6 volumes we only got Ozpin's. We still don't know ANYTHING about the rest of the characters. They even had the perfect opportunity with Phyrra when Jaune found her statue and talked with her mother. But no, they just ended with: She was a good girl.
@@soul6733 That might be true, but as has been proven before, rooster teeth likes to play the long game with things. I can't give spoilers on rvb here as Murder hasn't gotten too far into it, but rvb is definitely a good example of how things get expanded more and more. Even Camp Camp is a good (if silly) example! I'm hoping that is the case with RWBY too; I sure never expected the kind of lore we got on Salem this volume, nor Ozpin's. And I do not "pretend too much" for the writers to care or give or whatever. I'm hopeful. I don't see anything wrong in being hopeful about such things. I'm just being positive ^^
I agree, the fight failed to be emotionally engaging because Yang and Blake didn't really contend with Adam's largely unexplained rationale and not enough of Adam's character was revealed, even though it was relentlessly teased. The fight should've encompassed everything about Adam, Yang, and Blake up til this point; their character arcs, backstories, drive, motivation, and core beliefs in order for the drama and tension to be heartfelt and bring their arcs to a satisfying conclusion, even more so if they were going to kill a character over it. The fight was also hollow because the conflict between Adam and Blake, the very reason for this fight happening, was left vague. We don't really know what motivated him to obsess over her or why his feelings towards her trumped his hatred against mankind, we're just left guessing and assuming things.
The fight should've also been longer, control should've gone back and forth, the combatants adapting to each other's strategies and counters, each attack packed with emotion. Adam should've overwhelmed the fight far more than Blake and Yang so their eventual victory could feel hard-earned and Blake's breakdown could feel like an honest release of all tension. I still believe keeping Adam alive in the show is better than keeping the gigantic open questions surrounding him unanswered. If the show wants to make a point out of the SDC's/Jacques crimes and the racism then it's in their interest to keep Adam around and show his history and experiences, because he's the only character on the show directly personally affected. They could've made an interesting plot involving the SDC, Jacques Schnee, the Atlas government or ruling class, and Faunus slavery, and made it personally engaging through Weiss, Adam, and Blake. They could've even added some intrigue regarding Adam's family background. But now, without Adam, a direct victim of Atlas/SDC abuse, the racism subplot will feel shallow.

This is only my opinion but I think Adam, sadly, is dead.
I think they used this character to break the relationship between Yang and Blake, and now the fack that they defeated Adam together is somehow used to restore that broke relationship. Now Adam is kind of meaningless although he could have had more development .
I'm not saying Adam will be dead because I say so, I like this character and I would love to see more from him, but now I kind of see him like a character that has helped Blake (and Yang) to grow as characters.

Cinder wasn't stabbed before falling. But she received a hand full of lightning into the face without aura, then was frozen alive while falling into a sheer endless chasm. If she survived, I think so can Adam.
He could very well have been saved by someone. I say, the rule "no body no death" still applies. He _could_ be dead. It's fairly likely compared to other "no body" scenarions. But we can't rule out the possibility that he's still around.
The Adam vs. Blake/Yang fight was so great, both for its amazing choreography and for all of the little callbacks to earlier volumes that were interspersed throughout, particularly with Yang's fighting.
We really see the development of Yang as a fighter following the events at Beacon. She's using what Tai taught her during volume 4; she's not recklessly taking hits anymore to power up her semblance, but instead is fighting intelligently and avoiding hits. Along those lines, at one point during ep11, we actually see her launch into the exact same maneuver she used at Beacon which cost her her arm. But this time, instead of going straight in, she used her gauntlets to change direction midair, avoid Adam's slash, and get into position to attack him from the side. In addition, the tactic that she uses against Adam in the last part of the fight is almost exactly what Neo did to her in the train car fight back in volume 2. Yang knows how powerful Adam's semblance is, so she avoids hitting him hard enough to activate it, but instead sets up for a single devastating blow to take him down in an instant. Finally, Yang turns the concept of over-reliance on a semblance around on Adam. She recognizes that Adam is depending on his semblance to win in the same way that she used to, and so she makes a plan to take that crutch away from Adam by getting rid of his sword. While Adam uses his semblance constantly and indiscriminately throughout the fight, Yang picks the moment when her semblance will make a decisive difference, and effectively decides the fight with that one use.

I know that you think it was also RWBY and crew's fault for the Grimm invasion, but to be fair, Cordovan should have just sent airships instead of a giant mech MAINLY USED for giant Grimm. It was an unnecessary act. They should've just sent airships instead of giant mechs

You know what no one thought about: Qrow could just write a letter to Ironwood telling him that they are stuck in Argus because Cordovin doesn’t believe that they need to get to Atlas and asking him to simply call her and tell her to escort them to him.
Since Qrow wrote one to Ironwood in the first chapter of this volume, it seems that this way of communication is not affected by Atlas‘ lockdown.
