Great stuff - we didn't know it, but we were spoiled by the mainstream coverage in those days. BBC2, hourly updates on Radio 2, plus the daily newspapers. .....
As a child in the 80s, I loved watching the teatime Rally report on BBC 2. A nostalgia that remains to this day as a 47 year old. Thank you VHS rallies.
Fab video. Thanks for continuing to upload these. I'm fairly certain I went to see the cars as they drive through Buxton this year as I have a very distinct memory of the Porsches in their Rothmans livery.
Albeit one that was specially created for rallying. Whereas the Quattro was a converted road car. There was continual conflict within the Audi management on this. The firm did start developing a mid-engined Quattro, in secret, but it was spied and subsequently destroyed.
@@VHSRallies I just don't get the fetishism about Audi. Yes they were the first to interpret the rules in a way that allowed a 4WD car to compete against two whheled drive cars in the same class and were successful. However when Peugeot and Lancia did likewise Audi ceased to be competitive. British Leyland Special Tuning produced a four wheel drive mini for Rallycross back in 1972 and were successful, so nothing new really was there. I just don't get it. And of course Audi have milked it ever since. All good marketing and that's all imo..
@VHS Rallies You don't by any chance have any of the rallycross BL Special Tuning mini in action? I recall it being on ITV I think on Sat afternoons . 👍👍
These uploads are amazing man, you may get small viewership but this stuff is really fantastic
Viewership figures don't really matter, to be honest. If I wanted big numbers I'd just go out and film some cats.
VHS Rallies Same, rally is pretty niche when it comes to youtube.
VHS Rallies group b cats
@VHSRallies Your work means a lot to me and many others. For that, I thank you.

I was at the Knowsley safari park stage - (day 1) - great day. I went to Kielder, Grizedale and clocaenog in later years.
Thank you for posting all 5 days coverage 👍🏁

Maybe we should talk, Dave!
Wow those Audi Quattros were something else in their day. Still in my opinion the greatest sounding combustion engine in the world
Great post
Superb.

Eh? It's the final day - day five. No?
