Contrary to popular belief, there are multitudes of Orthodox Christians and people in general, that are non-Ethiopians (by nature) that would love to know the meaning of the ma'h'lay't. I'm also sure that there are Ethiopians who don't know Gi'i'z that would like to know the meaning.
