Marvin was a thing of beauty who did not have to make spectacle of himself. His quiet confidence spoke volumes. I tear up, watching his highlights and smiling because I had the honor of him being an Indianapolis Colt! Reggie was good but Marvin was a pure and beautiful piece of art. Ask any defender who they most feared or hated to defend and they will tell you Marvin! Marvin always took the same first 3 to 4 steps so defense could not read his route. Little info. In early days of his career Marv and Marshall Faulk ran the bleachers regularly for training together. There has been no receiver in Indianapolis and probably won't be so beautiful. Marvin rarely huddled and yet him and Peyton read each other like a book! They just looked at each other and they knew the play. May Marvin Jr be at least half as good as his father, he will be Canton bound!!
REMEMBER MARVIN HELPED PEYTON DEVELOP FROM A ROOKIE. PEYTON DIDN'T JUST COME IN BEING THE BEST HE WORKED AT WITH MARVIN. TOGETHER THEY PUT THAT RECORD AND THOSE NUMBERS UP. MARVIN MADE THOSE GREAT CATCHES RESPECT THAT MAN
if i’m not mistaken he didn’t play in 09 and in 08 played 15 games only 636 yards and 07 247 yards make it make sense to me Moss broke Td record in 07 and 08 and 09 had over 1k yards he only had two seasons in 2000s under 1k yards and that’s because of hamstring injury
Marvin is the best of all time and idc what anybody says then moss then rice. It's a fact that when moss knew he wasn't gonna get the ball thrown toward him he didn't give his all and neither did t.o. Marvin was so consistent and still holds the record for most receptions in a season. He showed up every game and put up the numbers that no one else in the league has ever done. I'm sure if he played 19 years he would easily have most yards of all time.
Harrison couldn't hold RIce's jock with both hands and a back brace. To even mention Harrison in the same conversation is an insult. Harrison ran better routes than Moss and had hands just as good but that's it. Moss did literally EVERY other aspect of playing wide receiver better.
at 3:39, the Colts commentator says Marvin Harrison averaged more catches, yards, TDs per game than Jerry Rice - u can twist numbers however you like. Jerry Rice also played in the 80s and 90s where NFL was not all that pass happy, Jerry Rice also played longer so of course his averages are gonna be down, if you play one game and had 220 yards receiving, are you better than Jerry Rice too since you played 1 game and averaged more?
Harrison also had Reggie Wayne on the other side of the field taking targets away. Imagine if Moss had Steve Smith on the other side of the field almost his whole career, taking targets away. He might not even be on here then...might be like Issac Bruce and Tory Holt nowhere to be found.
moss was the one taking ON the double teams. harrison and wayne were pretty even so you couldn't double either one of them. lol @ anyone taking away targets from moss. You're not a throwing a 5 yard hitch instead of a guaranteed 60 yard touchdown bomb when moss throwing his hand up. Quarterbacks know where their money is at.
+bonk caesar This is best WRs of the 2000s. Carter was gone after 2001 and his 2001 season was lackluster, getting less than 1000 yards. Wayne got to Indy in 2001 and was there with Harrison and Manning until Harrison retired in 2008. Moss had one year of an aging Cris Carter, in the 2000s, playing alongside at a high level. The rest of his career he was THE man. Harrison had Wayne putting up HOF stats for 8 years of the 2000s. My point is still more than valid.
Moss was so amazing but to me Marvin and Jerry Rice were the top 2 greatest WR I ever saw play. Their longevity and consistency and ability to perform in the clutch every time was amazing.

I never looked at it like Marvin was good only because he had Peyton throwing him the ball, I've always looked at it like Peyton was good because he had Marvin to pass the ball too.
For Anyone Wondering this was the full list 10. Reggie Wayne 9. Anquan Boldin 8. Larry Fitzgerald 7. Chad Johnson 6. Steve Smith 5. Hines Ward 4. Torry Holt 3. Terrell Owens 2. Randy Moss 1. Marvin Harrison
Marvin deserves it. This is a talent ranking. It’s production ranking. Marvin was THEE most consistent WR in that era. You don’t control who throws you the ball. Your job is to catch and run. Let’s be very real, TO has more drops than any receiver in the top 10 and it’s not even close. Moss was thrown the ball in Oakland and had plenty drops. If you’re a top 5 receiver all time and the ball hits your hands, you catch it. Marvin deserves to be 1 on this particular list.
I'm a lifelong Colts fan. My parents got season tickets when they came in '84. I was in high school when Marvin, and then Peyton got drafted. Thru my college and young adult years "Peyton-to-Marvin" was responsible for literally hundreds of cheers, high fives, hugs, and general good happy times. Big thanks to both of them.
He also quit on plays, teams and bounced around the league. If Moss is so great why did he play for 6 different teams (counting 2 stints with Minn?). Moss was a physical beast but an emotional child.
I love how they talked about them and their testaments to his humbleness. It makes 100% sense considering 2 other receivers on his team one year also had 1000 receiving yards! Just imagine 3 war's going for 1000 yards each in a season. Simply amazing and has only been done by 2 others teams so 3 times total.
Realistic Top 10 WR of 2000s 10 Boldin 9 Hines Ward 8 Reggie Wayne 7 Steve Smith 6 Holt 5 Chad Johnson 4 Larry Fitzgerald 3 Marvin Harrison 2 TO 1 Randy Moss
I grew up watching Peyton, Marvin, Edge, and Reggie, and I haven't seen anything like it since. Playoffs didn't always go great, but they were just really fun to watch all season long, even when they lost.
I didn’t know he was that efficient. Manning being there his entire career helps tremendously. But my opinion Moss is #1. 2007 with Brady is crazy. Imagine if moss/Brady was together a decade 🤦🏾♂️ salute the great Marvin Harrison..
They gotta stop comparing themselves to Rice, he would have even better numbers if he played in the pass happy league that it became in the 2000s while in his prime.
After making one of the most sickest one handed diving catches at Tennesse in 2003, the announcers and the players were all in disbelief, wanting to talk about the catch and replay it, but Marvin jumped up signaling for the offense to hurry up and get going because they were in no huddle trying to score in a close game. He didn't want to celebrate or showboat, he just wanted to win. In fact, the only time I can ever remember any type of celebration was that catch in New England they mentioned here, and i think that was just him spiking the ball. He did his job and didn't showboat
So he's the best because he was more consistent? He also stayed on the colts his entire career and had the greatest regular season QB of all time throwing him the ball. Moss and Owens both bounced around on different teams with new players, coaches, and game plans which takes time to get comfortable for any player. Your argument is weak
Marvin Harrison played 2 less years than TO and Moss and has comparable numbers with 30 less games under his belt. Give him those 2 extra years and he very likely statistically matches or beats them in most categories. Even with 2 less years, he has more career receptions than both. He has only 700 less receiving yards than Moss and 1,300 less than Owens; and 28 less TD's than Moss and 25 less TD's than Owens, while playing 30 fewer games. No doubt Marvin Harrison was very consistent. He also has a higher per-game average in receiving yards than Rice, Moss and Owens. He also has a Super Bowl ring. I think the real crime here is that Calvin Johnson isn't in the top 4. His per season numbers are ridiculously good. In only 9 seasons, his numbers easily match the best 9 of any of these receivers.
Yeah but when you're talking about the best ever longevity is part of it. Terrel Davis might have been the best back ever but he only played a few seasons so we'll never know if he could have sustained that for a career. Johnson was definitely great but he retired too early to be considered best all time.
Problem was Marvin was sort of a lackluster playoff WR since most of his prime was before the illegal contact rule and big corners bullied him. He would be even better in todays era, but for the playoffs I’d take TO.
Yeah but that doesn't mean he can't be a good receiver look at this what if Randy Moss had Tom Brady for his whole career is we gonna say Randy Moss wasn't good cause he had Tom Brady no but that's what I think
Over 1,000 yards and 10 TD's in 8 CONSECUTIVE seasons lol.... Averaged 102 catches 1,400 yards and 12 TD's lol. "Jerry Rice never did that"..... Oh. Okay. Yeah sorry Owens fans or Chad fans or Moss fans the loud mouth diva wasn't the best.... Sorry ;(
Marvin was so amazing a lot the NFL don't know that because they didn't watch the Colts when they were coming up the guy consistently caught the ball very comparable to Chris Carter only would be too a lot faster off the line but the toe taps and the one handed catches were every game
They said he wasn’t a guy who complained about not demanding the ball but he opening said that was not true and said how he wish his son would complain more like how he did
Ig guess it’s not something people saw him doing… because he rarely ever talked (to the media/in front of cameras at least) while he was playing. I live in Indy and he was my favorite player as a kid and I remember him saying like 2 sentences during the SB parade after they won in 06. Hearing him talk now in videos is unexpected
Manning definitely made them better but they had to be good to start with. Wayne had one of his best seasons without Manning and Harrison looked good his first 2 years before manning.
Rams fan here and I have no problem with this. Its easy to knock this choice and claim he had the benefit of Manning throwing him the ball but that would also imply that just about any other receiver could fill his shoes and that's total bullshit. Hypotheticals aside, Marvin delievered and that's all that matters.
Everyone so butthurt bringing up that Harrison had Manning throwing to him forgets that Reggie Wayne was drafted in 2001. Saying Harrison isn't #1 because Manning was the QB while forgetting the #10 WR on this list was on the other side of the field taking passes away is naive.
clutchthepearls that means they couldnt double either one. So thats its not a bad thing to have another great WR on the other side. Also with a great run game thats helps place action pass. Moss was part of 2 of the greatest offensives ever. No WR could do what moss did. Many have done with Harrison did
Taking passes away, dear God... Randy's getting triple covered no matter who's on the other side of the field, Harrison isn't, and people act like that's a handicap. If the WR2 is stealing passes it's because you can't destroy people one on one, both of which TO and Moss did in their sleep. Moss came in his rookie season, playing opposite Cris Carter who was a vet, HOF WR, and clearly established WR1. What does he do, oh just set the rookie record for yards and touchdowns. Averages 1400 yards and 14 TDs per year for the next 3 years. That's before Polian went crying to the league cause Harrison couldn't handle the Pats DBs, by the way. Every time Moss had what Harrison had, he made more of it. He gets a HOF QB for one single year of his prime, and he breaks the TD record. To boot, man misses nearly 2 full seasons of the 2000s... and ends up #1? 10 years of Randy are worth less than 8 of Harrison? Ridiculous.
I'm not a big Harrison fan, but I think casual fans really overlook just how amazing of a route runner Harrison was. He wasn't as fast or as strong or TO or Moss, but he blows both of them away when it comes to route running. Watch the Colt-Lions Thanksgiving game and watch the moves he puts on the Lions corner in the redzone.
I wouldn't say Marvin wasn't fast. it's stated in some places that Marvin Harrison clocked around a 4.38-4.41 range in his 40 time. He just never had to truly use his speed on account of his routes being so precise and beautifully timed.
Harrison ran a 4.38 at his combine. He was 3-4 inches and probably 30-35 pounds lighter than those guys who were stronger while having longer limbs to their advantage. No one did it better and as consistent as 88. Champ Bailey even admitted Marvin Harrison was the toughest WR he’s ever played against.
I love Randy Moss, I love Terell Owens and I have no problem Marvin Harrison being #1. He was more consistent than Moss and Owens and I don't ever remember Marvin quitting on a team. #1 is perfect.
The reason Marvin isn't considered the best is because he didn't go around telling everybody he was. Humble guy who put his head down and worked.

He shouldn't be number 1, period.
Billy Bob And Randy Moss helped Brady go to 18-1.
not really. peyton had many different wr cores since Marvin retired and his numbers only got better.
Peyton made him lol
peyton manning made so many receivers look good it's not even funny. Brady was thought to have a good deep ball when he played with moss, now he can't hit anybody past 15 yards
what anotonio brown is right now, is what marvin Harrison was for the majority of his career
if Antonio is Marvin than Julio must be moss
Ace you think Julio is better?
oppose to who?
if your asking me do i think Julio is better than moss hell no or if your asking me do I think Julio is better thsn Antonio Brown I'm going to have to say yes but not by a lot he's just alil bit more athletic than Brown 2 very good wrs Id love to have on my team
AB > Marvin > Julio
People don’t really respect him or talk about him like that because he wasn’t vocal. Silent killers just let their work speak
I hate when they do top ten lists just to get attention, of course Randy Moss is Number 1 and everyone knows it
clearly not get over it Bitch
Korra no he went to the black hole aka the raiders
Korra
and still put up worse stats than moss
OJspencer22 I AM NUMBER ONE EVERYONE KNOWS I WAS THE GOAT
Randy Moss you had too many lapses, and played for way too many teams to be as GREAT as you were!!!
My all time favorite Wide receiver
REMEMBER MARVIN HELPED PEYTON DEVELOP FROM A ROOKIE. PEYTON DIDN'T JUST COME IN BEING THE BEST HE WORKED AT WITH MARVIN. TOGETHER THEY PUT THAT RECORD AND THOSE NUMBERS UP. MARVIN MADE THOSE GREAT CATCHES RESPECT THAT MAN
His route running was clean af
Marvin Harrison had everything you want in a receiver route running, great hands, great playmaker and consistency.
Marvin was literally “silent but deadly”. From the route running to the hands to the feet and he’s got a GOAT at QB? Marvin’s Top 5 in my opinion.
if i’m not mistaken he didn’t play in 09 and in 08 played 15 games only 636 yards and 07 247 yards make it make sense to me Moss broke Td record in 07 and 08 and 09 had over 1k yards he only had two seasons in 2000s under 1k yards and that’s because of hamstring injury
Any receiver is good if you have Peyton Manning as QB. If moss was Peyton's go to guy, then I guaranteed Moss would be #1
Alex Sanken moss had Brady
+clutchthepearls He had Chris Carter on the other side
Their longevity and consistency and ability to perform in the clutch every time was amazing.
um52 had 2 of the greatest qbs ever throwing to them.. hall of famer for sure but not an all time great. If you would rather build a team around Marvin instead of randy your crazy
@@thewind6047 i would rather build a team around marvin i don't think that marvin was better then moss but marvin was a good team player and moss wasn't
@The Wind you can't build a team around a wide reciver the best wr can't be great unless he's got a good qb
@@thewind6047
Oh yeah because Marvin didn’t have someone amazing throwing it to him
Marvin played inside with Peyton manning his whole career pretty much
Moss and Rice played outside with a plethora of QBs (excluding Moss’s time in minnesota)
Marvin isn't even close to Moss. The dude was just lucky to have arguably the greatest regular season QB of all time throwing to him, Peyton Manning. If Moss had Brady his entire career, or at least since 2001 when Tom came up, Moss' numbers would be insane.
Marvin Harrison hands down imo the greatest WR of the 2000s dude numbers is crazy too many Colts haters in the comments and this coming from a Bears fan
Moss and TO's numbers are better. Sorry but I'll take big play receiver over a possession guy any day.
Marvin a possession WR? Um no
@@xaviervega468 they played more games than Marvin, so obviously they are gonna have better numbers. Maybe you should be looking at why their numbers are so close. Just proves Marvin was the better receiver
@@efraingarcia1814 They have better averages than Marvin as well.
That's my 5th best wrs hands down his route's and hands was insane he was beyond a dawg
I never looked at it like Marvin was good only because he had Peyton throwing him the ball, I've always looked at it like Peyton was good because he had Marvin to pass the ball too.
Exactly. Peyton knew where his bread was buttered.
Broall manning wr were good lol , Gonzalez, collie, Wayne, Harrison, garcon , bruh seriously
Marvin Harrison was Silent but Deadly
They picked Harrison just to be unpredictable lmao
I bet this guy really is laughing his ass off. Simple things please simple minds.
For Anyone Wondering this was the full list
10. Reggie Wayne
9. Anquan Boldin
8. Larry Fitzgerald
7. Chad Johnson
6. Steve Smith
5. Hines Ward
4. Torry Holt
3. Terrell Owens
2. Randy Moss
Marvin was hard. I remember him.
Now his son is on his way to his dad's status. He's the same way his father was. Quiet, composed, mature, he's going to be a star at Ohio State.
His son wore an Apple Watch and Louis Vitton cleats on the field. He’s not quiet at all lol

The fact that I just purchased a Ps2 and have been getting back familiar with ESPN NFL 2k5 football has me here.
And now his son enters the NFL 🔥
Harrison could do everything at an extremely high level.
The guy in the beginning, you can tell this dude never watches football lol.
if Torry holt ain't on this list than this total bias
+Kev Koning STRAIGHT UP BULLSHIT
+Baroque stop. Holt is a top 3 WR of this decade
he was on the list, they just didnt post his video
Torry Holt is number 4 and Steve Smith is 6... I think it should be Smith 4, Holt 5, Ward 6
Torry Holt was not better than Marrison Moss Owens
The quiet guy but tough as steel! 💪
Him over Randy Moss? Are you actually serious? Moss is the best deep threat receiver in NFL history with his speed, and has amazing hands.smh.
Teddy Goatwater being a deep threat is not all in being a great WR you should Know that!
Marvin Harrison was a deep threat was small and could easily get behind defenses
Deep threat is it. You probably think Julio is better than Hilton too. Numbers don’t lie.
jerick suicide Calvin Johnson
He also quit on plays, teams and bounced around the league. If Moss is so great why did he play for 6 different teams (counting 2 stints with Minn?). Moss was a physical beast but an emotional child.
I love how they talked about them and their testaments to his humbleness. It makes 100% sense considering 2 other receivers on his team one year also had 1000 receiving yards! Just imagine 3 war's going for 1000 yards each in a season. Simply amazing and has only been done by 2 others teams so 3 times total.
Now his son is fixing to take the reigns. Legacy
Realistic
Top 10 WR of 2000s
10 Boldin
9 Hines Ward
8 Reggie Wayne
7 Steve Smith
6 Holt
5 Chad Johnson
4 Larry Fitzgerald
3 Marvin Harrison
2 TO
1 Randy Moss
143 catches and didn't get moved around is crazy!
Marvin Harrison was the best receiver of the 2000s. Not Hines Ward, not Randy Moss, not Larry Fitzgerald, not Terrell Owens. ITS MARVIN HARRISON
Vikings fan here but got nothing but love for marv. One of the best receivers in the game to ever play
Who’s here after Michael Thomas has just broken the record??
Goat
Ewok Thekid the goat at crying and running slants
@@deanascby71 Nah
No one cares about Michael "Slant" Thomas and his one route and quadruple moves off the line of scrimmage
He broke it because Drew Brees throws the ball like 50 times in a game that's why not because Thomas is good.
I’m taking Marvin Harrison over any receiver currently in the league.
Also have to keep in mind that he played with another star receiver as well so if was the lone target those numbers would be even higher
"As a sport fan I like to see divas" well this is football bud and hes a football player
was thinking the same thing...how in the hell did that guy get a gig at NFL Films with a mindset like that??
Yah that is ridiculous. I mean that's like hating on Barry Sanders because he simply tossed the ball to the ref after a td instead of showing off.
Problem was Marvin was sort of a lackluster playoff WR since most of his prime was before the illegal contact rule and big corners bullied him. He would be even better in todays era, but for the playoffs I’d take TO.
Marvin had great hands. But his whole career he had peyton his entire career
He was drafted 2 years before Manning, but a majority of his career he did.
That’s saying something if possibly the best QB of all time kept you as his number one target for 10 years it’s a double sided argument
Yeah but that doesn't mean he can't be a good receiver look at this what if Randy Moss had Tom Brady for his whole career is we gonna say Randy Moss wasn't good cause he had Tom Brady no but that's what I think
Marvin Harrison had broke records 1thousand + yards in 8 consecutive years Randy Moss made spectacular catches faster and quicker.
LOVE Harrison over the loud mouth receivers, perfect at 1 over Owens, Chad, and Moss lol
Sorry ;(
They call them divas lol... In football.... "divas" psssshbaahahahah oh man it's so sad.
deleted comments bitch ass
Two words, Peyton Manning.
Revy's Bitch two words fucking degenerate
Realize there were two hall of famer WRs on the Colts team. Marvin and Reggie - maybe best duo of receivers ever on a squad.
Marvin was so amazing a lot the NFL don't know that because they didn't watch the Colts when they were coming up the guy consistently caught the ball very comparable to Chris Carter only would be too a lot faster off the line but the toe taps and the one handed catches were every game
Him and Torry Holt were always my guess
Best era
Thing i loved about marvin harrison is he never trashed talked. He was very consistant and a humble dude. He was the truth.
I didn't know this was a 2000's top 10 QB-WR connection
HAHA ikr
They said he wasn’t a guy who complained about not demanding the ball but he opening said that was not true and said how he wish his son would complain more like how he did
Ig guess it’s not something people saw him doing… because he rarely ever talked (to the media/in front of cameras at least) while he was playing. I live in Indy and he was my favorite player as a kid and I remember him saying like 2 sentences during the SB parade after they won in 06. Hearing him talk now in videos is unexpected
Yeah that’s definitely true he seemed like a drama free player. His son is going to be another incredible player I can’t wait to see what he does
He had Peyton As His QB
By far the greatest reciever I ever watched as a kid hands down 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Finally, MH getting the respect he earned!! I have him ranked #2 all time, after Rice
Steve smith > jerry rice

Jason M. aww this nigga crazy
Let me get this straight, You have shooter and Mr Stickem number one and 2? Good for u buddy.
I love randy but Marvin was consistent for over a decade Randy's attitude.made his career spotty
Manning made so many receivers better than they actually were
Bonk Caesar whole truth!!!
Manning definitely made them better but they had to be good to start with. Wayne had one of his best seasons without Manning and Harrison looked good his first 2 years before manning.
So did Brady
Ridiculous.
Reggie Wayne didn't really start becoming a factor in Indy's offense until 2004. Before then it was mostly just Harrison Peyton was throwing to.
That’s literally Tory Holt good route runner and fast
Marvin was a beast
Harrison ran a 4.38 at his combine. He was 3-4 inches and probably 30-35 pounds lighter than those guys who were stronger while having longer limbs to their advantage. No one did it better and as consistent as 88. Champ Bailey even admitted Marvin Harrison was the toughest WR he’s ever played against.
Imagine if Moss played the whole 00’s with the patriots sheesh
And if Owens and Mcnabb didn’t have drama damn
What if’s?
He just played. He wasn't a loud mouth looking for the media. He just played. 💪💪💪💪
Peyton Manning holds ever single passing record. Ever. Give Manning Randy Moss and they'd never be broken.
Peyton's got some records with Marvin Harrison that are unbreakable.
#1 Wide Receiver means Peyton Manning is #1 QB :)
I love Randy Moss, I love Terell Owens and I have no problem Marvin Harrison being #1. He was more consistent than Moss and Owens and I don't ever remember Marvin quitting on a team. #1 is perfect.
GOAT
For a dude considered a #1 WR in the 2000s no one really talks about this man lol
And don’t make excuses he said jerry had 300 games he played 190 caught more touchdowns he had Manning but jerry had 2 great qbs young and Montana
I need to give you guys a big thank you for putting Marvin Harrison at #1
The Hank Aaron of wide receivers.....
