The instructions were clear and precise which gives me enthusiasm to do this without douting my confidence thanks for your time and expertise good man !
Ben thanks so much, 9:30 at night going for a long ride tomorrow just checked the chain and it needs some tightening. Got the bike 6 weeks ago and have put almost 5,000 km on it so far just loving it. Awesome straightforward video as usual you are my go-to resource.
Thank you very much, Ben. Simple and confidence-building instructions. I felt like Tom Hanks in that movie on the island, "I have made fire!" when I drove away this morning without any hint of chain slack. :) Now that I am slowly running out of warranty and into 12K+ kms on my Himalayan I'll slowly start tinkering a bit more than I have until now. Your guides come in very handy.
I don't even have a Himalayan. But I still love watching these somehow 😂 Love the way you explain in depth Today itself I got a reply from you in regards to my plan on buying Himalayan. You warned me that I should learn how to stop this bike because of the 21inch wheel size, tried looking up on internet about it, but was unable to find something relevant. If you could post something in future or some relevant article or video would be really helpful sir! Thanks in advance
@Akshay (and Ben), this is what Im looking for as well. I noticed that the RE-H has one of the worst stopping distances tested by various reviewers. But (most of) the rest of the bike is too bloody good! I'm sure there's a custom fix for this.
Thank you, Ben. I have a Himalayan with just over 10,000 km. I did the oil change and now I feel an intermittent "clunk" in my left foot peg (it even happens when I coast with the engine off). I may have over-tightened the chain, so I'm going to check that tomorrow.
For rear wheel alignment I like to use an aluminum straight edge used in construction. I lay it up against the sides of both the front and rear wheel and then adjust the rear wheel accordingly. It works well and takes all the guess work out of wheel alignment.
Hey Ben, Recently purchased the RE Himalayan, and its been about 2650kms and first service done... post service i thought too clean the chain and lubricate and adjust, what do you suggest the best way to clean and lubricate or should i take them to service centre to get the job done !
What a great video, my friend! . So, for centering the wheel and tensioning the chain on the Himalayan, we cannot be guided by the scale with numbers that the fork has on both sides, right next to where the final adjustment is made (?) I'm intrigued because on my Himalayan on the left side it marks number 4 and on the right side it marks 4 1/2
No you can’t take the debossed ruler as a measuring guide . There is a 1 mm or more error quotient. What you can do to get the precise measurement is to measure from the centre of the axle to edge of the swingarm .
Brother... how much to tighten the lock nut? I have been doing it by tightening it till it stops and then 1/4 turn to avoid damaging the threads and putting pressure on the bearings. Manual says 70nm on torque wrench. What's your method?
Indian Mechanic I do not own a torque wrench . Have been wanting to buy one for a really long time . But cannot justify the purchase with working on just my bike . So I borrow it whenever necessary. That being said . I tighten the lock but till it seats and then go 3/4 turn .
I am planning to buy Himalayan BS6 I have few concerns regarding components, - what primary checks I should perform before delivery? - tapping sound issue and how to resolve ? - Piggyback ECU for BS6 is helpful ? Does it affects warranty ?
Check for any kind of scratches leaks and the Tyre for any usage marks When u take delivery go for a spin and make sure the vehicle is balanced and does not go to a side(slightly let go of the handle bar to check it) The aftermarket ecu does NOT void the warranty The tapping sound is above 40 degrees and that's when the bike is really heating up a better grade of oil could help with it
Ben can you please let from where did you get that reflector on left and right on read number plate and how did you fit it . Actually in my Himalayan BS6 its not there .
Hi friend. ask for yamaha gladiator or honda shine reflectors @ any automobile spare parts shop. also ask for the L mounting clamps and bolts for the same. mount the same on your number plate screws.
hey ben, your videos are amazing, Can i come intern for you during weekends ? I live in Chennai and have a Thunderbird 350. I'll even donate by bike to you!

Hi Ben, I love your down to earth personality.
Bram Willems Thanks for the compliment Bram. 😊🙏
Spot on! Your videos are tremendously helpful for novices like me who are mechanically challenged. Thanks a ton.
glad it helps .

Also , the wheel alignment . Remove the chain guard and check if the chain is SNAKING . It has to be perfectly straight.
Excelentes tus consejos. Saludos desde Chile.

Nicely done!
Use full ❤
Mine has a serious issue. There are spots which are really tight . and there are spots which are relatively very loose.
Lack of maintenance and wrong chain tension lead to this . Change your chain asap . Also sprockets .
Ok, By tha way.The bike has done only 12000 km. OK will change it asap. Now it has even satrted making very irritating ticking sound..
thank you Ben
What is the cost of tyre ?
7000 inr
which tyre is that ?
Its Timsun .please check his playlist its there
