One thing that potter’s pink is good for is getting the reds in your palette to granulate (if that’s your thing). I’ve found that mixing PP into your reds can get a granulating effect without changing the colour of your red. I’m guessing that’s because PP is such a low tinting strength colour. You can also use it to make lovely peachy apricot tones with your yellow and oranges - probably good for painting roses and other flowers, but with the granulation probably not so much for portraits.

The potters pink in my AGallo pallet is the most beautiful color. Winsor newton also has a beautiful potters pink.
I use PP in landscapes and on animals, especially birds. Potters pink is one color that has a place on every pallet.
Another staple color on my pallets is Daniel Smiths Under Sea Green.

I find I reach for my slimmest and most travel based pallets often even when sitting at home. A Small pallet is just more convenient. I find I use all my paint and mix all brands. I have tons full of magnetized half/full pans I fill from tubes. It’s then possible to mix and match pulling the pans out and placing them on a smaller metal lid to make a custom pallet for a sketchbook page or a painting, etc. also I got the medeen 42 spinner pallets popped out the paint (kept it in a folder thing) and put my own paint in. I like lots of choices and sometimes use lots of colours so it’s very compact but has lots of choices (I have 2 now and am thinking of getting another).
I also get super slim make up pallets (eye shadow) put n95 and goggles on and scape out the makeup using the pallet for watercolours and gouache! Super slim and transportable. Fits in a pocket, small purse etc!

Ali express and e bay sell white nights. I believe Amazon has them as well.

Wow what a collection! I would love to see a video on your roman szmal set and your watercolor tubes as well! And I absolutely agree with you on schmincke being a collectable brand. Personally I don't prefer their paint but omg am I dying to buy their palettes! For a while they had a palette similar to their square metal palette but it was white and absolutely gorgeous! I hesitated to get it until it was sold out from jacksons and now I'm beating myself up for not getting it 😅

I know what you mean about reaching for your favorite paints and palettes. I’ve stopped shopping paints. Saving my money for good watercolor paper. 😉

Potter's Pink is a colour that's not used much on it's own, simply because very little things are that colour AND it's not a highly pigmented colour. HOWEVER Potter's Pink is absolutely one of the best mixing colours around! First of all it's highly granulating (the more water you add to your mixes the better granulation effect you'll get - the less water the less visible is the granulation).
One of my favourite colours is from Schmincke's super granulating colours, it's Glacier Green - which is a Cobalt Turquoise (PG 50) mixed with Potter's Pink (PR233) and it's just gorgeous - actually most of the Schmincke super granulating colours are beautiful. I couldn't believe that these 2 pigments could give such a beautiful colour, so, I had got out my Daniel Smith Cobalt Turquoise (PG50) and my Schmincke Potter's Pink tube (PR233) and see that if I mixed these 2 colours together would I get the same effect as Schmicke's super granulating Glacier Green - and sure enough I did.
Then I thought if the Potter's Pink can do such a wonderful thing when mixed with Cobalt Turquoise what is it like if I mix it with other colours???? And that's when I opened a Pandora's box - simply put if you have any colours that are not granulating, like all the quinacridones, you can add various amounts of Potter's Pink to it to get it to granulate, because Potter's Pink is NOT a highly pigmented colour it barely changes the colour you add it too but you will still get the granulation.
You can get some really beautiful, subtle and unique colours when mixing varying amounts of Potter's Pink to sooooo many colours - some of my favourite mixes are Viridian & Potter's Pink, Quin Gold & Potter's Pink, Payne's Gray & Potter's Pink - added to any gray, whether it's a gray you've mixed yourself or a pre-mixed tube gray adding Potter's Pink will make it gorgeous, Cerulean Blue and on and on. Quite often the pigments will separate when laid down and this is also a gorgeous effect, of course this will depend on how much Potter's Pink you add to your mix. Hope this inspires you to try some mixes and play with Potter's Pink....cheers, Magdalena
