Thanks for the detailed breakdown! Been looking exactly for this but up to date. Mahalo!
So glad it’s helpful!
Looking so nice in that market of paradise.
🤙
Yaaaaaa!!!!!!
Selling the land, that belongs to the Hawaiana 🌺!!!
As what’s happening in Puerto Rico!!!!
So much love?!!!
Hell !!! The rich need to live too!!!
Just the kind of videos us locals need. Advertisements for the super expensive condos for outside buyers to use as investment properties and not actually live in them, increasing demand and driving up prices and decreasing affordable housing for the rest of us. Even worse it's made by locals. With so many of us not being able to afford living here so we have to move to the mainland, I don't know how you guys sleep at night.
Let’s discuss it. Do you remember what was here before?
@@dwellhawaii does it matter what was there before? Was whatever was there increasing demand for more high-priced condos?
Good job Maila/Koa team for the great introduction. Very educational.
Thank you!!
Thank you!
This is super helpful!
Yay! Thank you!
Perfect mix of informative + educational. Well done here.
Thank you!
Coming through in June for an IT contract. Lived in Ewa Beach and Waikiki. Looking to live in Ala Moana, or Kakaako this time around...hopefully.
Very insightful-wondering how market will be impacted by higher rates, especially for those units that were pre sold, that will need to be financed at today’s rates. Thank you Maila
There’s been an influx of inventory and a definite chilling affect on demand. Kakaako is one of the more opportune places for negotiating right now for sure
Just a small example to follow up my thought- 1001 Queen Street, #3408, just reduced to $890k from $945, and if you look further, this was listed at $1.12 in 2/2020. The current owner bought it for $978k in 2018, hoping to make a profit, and now will take a 100K + loss. Don't forget that the current put down 20% in the 2016 pre-construction "deal."
Yep, spot on. We have colleagues that speculated on one of the recently completed buildings and it didn’t quite pencil out the way they expected
Great rundown . Noticed no mention of Ulana?
I think I mentioned it in part 2. 😬
Can your parking space allow a 😂tesla charger
Yep! But it depends how early you get into the building as typically there is only a set number of chargers that can be installed. They're reserved on a first come first serve basis
too many condos, too many people moving here, traffic is bad, things are getting too expensive, locals are getting pushed out, there is no positive by building all these condos in Kakaako. it destroys all the natural areas of this island. Too much greed. Local families you say, which local family new ones thats moving here, thats already been here for several years or born and raised. Homelessness is getting worse, locals can't find jobs with decent pay.
Story hasn't changed since the 80s
Kakaako? When a child in the Philippines says “I want to take a dump” they say ‘kaka.’ Ako in Tagalog means ‘me’ in English. So if I were to translate Kakaako, it would mean ‘I have to take a shit.’
So that’s where kaka comes from. Well, Kaka'ako doesn’t have the same meaning at all. It means to chop, beat, or prepare thatching. There used to be salt marshes with really good pili grass used for thatched huts.
@@mailagibson6787 : Thanks for the explanation. I don’t feel so constipated now ;)
@@methemonkeyking my pleasure. Hahaha!
