মধ্যযুগে বিভিন্ন জাতিগোষ্ঠী বিশেষ করে ইউরোপীয়রা ব্যবসার উদ্দেশ্যে বাংলায় আসে। তাদের মধ্যে ফরাসীরা ঢাকায় কুঠি নির্মাণ করেন ১৭৮০ সালের দিকে। এখান থেকে তারা বিভিন্ন মসলা জাতীয় পণ্য ও মসলিন কাপড় ইউরোপে রপ্তানি করতো। আর তাদের ব্যবসা পরিচালনা ও বসবাসের জায়গাটি পরিচিতি পায় ফরাশগঞ্জ নামে। তবে এখন ফরাসীরা না থাকলেও তাদের রেখে যাওয়া ঐতিহাসিক ফরাশগঞ্জ আজও রয়েছে। তবে ফরাশগঞ্জের জৌলুস এখন আর নেই।

Information rich nice documentary on Farash Ganj. The historic buildings (Lalkuthi, Ruplal house and other beautiful houses) need to be renovated by the government. These are the national heritage and their renovation will increase the touristic attraction of Dhaka city.
These heritages can be carefully renovated for maintaining sufficient historic documents in Bangladesh
