Lots of kooks. Malibu breeds the weirdest and ugliest styles of surfing. It’s such a weird place to surf. I surfed there during Hurricane Marie in 2014. There must’ve been a thousand guys out including Laird and Slater. I caught 3 waves in 4 hours, it was mostly paddling and dodging giant boards. It was big that day and I broke my favorite board in half duck diving a set. It broke right in my hands 😢

To answer your question; not at all! I mean after 99% of these "surfers" get out of the water they hop in their cars, trucks or vans and sit in grid lock traffic on the roads and freeways where to go 2 miles takes pretty much 20 minutes, not to mention on said road ways they are sitting closer and snugged in tighter to one another than here out in the water at Malibu. So to further answer your question if you mirror the freeways and roadways and parking lots in So Cal you actually have way more room out in the water at Malibu for about 996,000 MORE people/surfers. So yeah this is just the tip of the iceberg "there's ALWAYS room for 900k + + + more. Interesting how surfing in this kind of crowd and driving in grid lock traffic everyday is considered "fun." ...Wow!!! ?
