  • After six months and nearly 3,000 miles, I think my Husqvarna Norden 901 Mods list is pretty much settled and complete at this point. I've been lucky enough to have ridden my Husqvarna Norden 901 all over the PNW, motocamping and taking on various trips including the entire Washington BDR. Through it all, I've been continually refining and changing my Norden 901 mods and I think I'm finally at a point where I'm finally happy with all of my Norden 901 accessories. My Norden 901 luggage and Norden 901 tires are on point, and the rest of my adventure bike mods like handguards, crash bars, footpegs, and the rest are all working incredibly well for me.
    This video is sponsored by Vanasche Motorsports, makers of many of my favorite Norden 901 mods including their amazing Norden GPS mount and brake lever. Check out Andrew's website at www.vanaschemotorsports.com

      Hey, I have been looking for your experience, and opinion, with t7 vs 901. Can't seem to find much at all. I have a t7, and a 901 on order. I enjoy your reviews, and would sure like your opinion, before I spend more of my money.

      @@justsomedude445 Thanks. I have all the specs for both. I'm looking for the riding experience opinion from a guy that has both. Mostly, looking for the off hwy use, because most of my riding is gravel, or dirt roads. They both have way more power than I need. I have about 3k miles on my t7, and love it ,,, but I find myself skipping short little single track trails, due to the fear of dropping it and not being able to stand it up again by myself. I tip it over way to often. I don't have the strength to stop it, once it starts to lean.

      @@toddfrownfelter5020 They're both great bikes, but neither is really made to be taken on singletrack and stuff. They can do it but it's not optimal. The Norden is slightly easier to pick up than the T7 but only because the weight is down lower. It's still no picnic to pick up on your own.

    Get some acrylic sheet in a quarter inch to help that Headlight up front, better yet buy a large clear router base and just modify it to slip behind that cage, Headlight protected! Love the look of this Norden, can't believe Ian at Big Rock Moto sold his already.

    You might want to look at the Heidenau K60 series for the rear. The K60 Scout has a mostly solid center stripe which makes for pretty good wear on the road and chonky tread everywhere else when you're not on the road.

    Hey Ben, I have been running the MotoZ tractionator GPS now for a while on my Africa Twin (you saw it in Bend at training together.) I just finished a 4000 mile road trip around 5 western states and was super happy with the tire. Admittedly it’s a much more street tire than yours but it has good wear and isn’t noisy at all, except when cornering hard!

    I've been going back and forth on the skidplate myself, I'd like to upgrade it, but I also want to put a center stand on at some point. Right now I don't think there's a lot of options that'll work with one. Also, those Vanasche Motorsports foot pegs are awesome, between them and the bar risers my 901 is absolutely perfect for me now. Super comfortable to sit and cruise and just right for standing. Too bad they didn’t make the fuel tanks stout enough to not need the crash bars. That seemed like a big opportunity to save weight. I guess they don’t bother since the dry weight at sale would just go up, even though the real world weight would be less.

      they are supposed to be , and the Husqvarna parts aluminum skid plate was way lighter than id have thought , id bet it doesnt weigh much more than the stock plastics we took off honestly , ive never run aftermarket crash bars honestly and dropped the 1090r many times once at 15-20mph on a gravel road and the hand guards & luggage rack did fine took the brunt , same thing with the 690 i had prior so im not going to add them to this 901 either , just my preference

    Ben, I’ve followed your videos for a long while and value your feedback. Is upgrading the Norden suspension a must-do for the average rider? Judging by the responses on the ADVrider forum one would think so.
    I am a GS rider who is strongly considering adding a Norden to the fleet. But also needing new suspension would be a financial deal killer. I’m a 185lb 60 year old average skill rider who rides 80% tarmac and 20% Midwest forest and gravel roads. I’ll usually have my Mosko Rackless full of gear. My riding style is uber-conservative. I’m a go slow, look at the views, take pictures kind of guy. Not a bonsai-run down the gravel road bouncing off of boulders type. The only similarity between me and Chris Birch is the color socks we wear. If my front wheel catches air it means I’ve f**cked up something!
    Do you have issues or concerns with the Norden? Thoughts?
    Thanks! 👍👍👍

    • @DorkintheRoad
      @DorkintheRoad  Рік тому +1

      You'll be fine. The stock suspension is more than enough for that. The only time I bottom it out is if I go off a jump with all the luggage on the bike.
