Folks it's not the television! They see their parents, their other relatives and older friends doing it. If they never saw a television, the biggest influencers would still be there.
Nothing is "cool" about following the crowd that will eventually destroy your dreams, health and life. Redefine Cool. Keep some values in life, even when your own parents' did not exhibit it.
Definitely. There’s dumb-cool and smart/intelligent-cool. Hang around with those as smart as or smarter than you; never let people hold you back and drag you down for social acceptance, approval, conformity.

Kids should be much more concerned about their health and safety, and less about their 'friends.' I didn't touch a beer until age 21, and my parents both died due to complications of alcohol and cigarettes, so I've never been worried about my kids or their choices. Learning by good examples is the way to go...
Kids, smoke cannabis, go easy on the drinking, and don't take unneeded jabs mandated by corrupt politicians. This has been a public service announcement.
Even cannabis can be harmful to the brain when you're that young especially when used frequently. Obviously it's FAR safer than alcohol but unless it's used for medical purposes it should definitely be used only on occasion particularly prior to age 18-ish, and until 24-25 still only in moderation. That's the case with anything that alters your thinking, it's just not a good idea to mess with that on a regular basis when the frontal lobe is still actively developing unless there's a medical reason to do so (seizures, psychosis, etc). But again, if it's between alcohol and cannabis, kids, choose cannabis for sure.
Cannabis causes harm and damage in absolutely any amount. The THC is particularly harmful to the brain and mental health. And much like tobacco smoke, cannabis can cause cancer, strokes, and other problems over time. Cannabis smoke also causes harmful exposure second hand to non-users. Alcohol generally isn't harmful at all if drinking responsibly. (Although there's an arguement about diabetes or other issues). Most if not all problems with alcohol is down to high consumption, intoxication, and addiction. Alcohol doesn't expose to non-drinkers bloodstreams. So I would much rather my child enjoys half a glass of wine or a beer over a harmful cannabis joint.
That's what the society promotes dear brother instead of spreading morals and values they spread filthy habits.i m like you dear brother I hate alcohol I cannot believe how it is legal
I hate alcohol too. But at least it can be done safely, within safe limits unlike a lot of other drugs. The problem is binge and addiction. People never stop at half a glass of wine or pint of beer. I think the problem isn't with alcohol but drinking culture.

I’m 56. All of this was going on when I was a teen in the 1980s. From what I see, kids here are drinking less than we did. Thanks to the police crackdowns on DUI, the drinking age was raised to 21, and require ID to buy it, making it more difficult for younger people to get it. The dance halls were all closed, the only bar in town now is The American Legion. 🫤🙄🤷🏽♀️ At the same time, What the young do have easy access to is chemical drugs. Chemical drug use has definitely increased. Even with citizens telling the police where the drugs come from, the police do nothing about the dealers of drugs, they just arrest kids for possession. {It’s more profitable to repeatedly arrest the young end user, than to arrest the dealer and lose the supply of possession fines/fees/etc. Young people party their a$$e$ off. Our culture teaches them to. But long term, drugs and alcohol are both addictions of despair. Our expectations for our futures/lives are quashed almost immediately out of the gate, some strive to stay in party mode, long after the party is over. Why? Despair. I’m not saying alcohol isn’t a problem in our society, it is, and it’s probably at the root of most of the problems in our society, I’m saying I disagree that it’s “worse than ever”, and I feel there are other fish to fry too, that might be equally important, if not more so. The way to keep people from getting broken, is to not break them. In order to do that we have to fix our society. Realizing while still in high school that you’re in for a lifetime of lack, hard work, and misery, is incentive for drinking and drug use. We used to call this a mid-life crisis, when a person realizes they are not going to live the life of their dreams. The fact that people are realizing this at such a young age says volumes about our society.

That makes me naive. Just because something has been going on for generations is no excuse.

Drinking should be illegal. Its poison
I think, as parents, we have to talk about this with our children from a young age. Caution, moderation etc, do not hide the inevitable

i've always gone against the "cool kids"; love being an individual
Alcohol is the only legal and encourage drug in america.
Drugs are bad mkay
Do parents not educate their Kids on.the danger of alcool in the States?
Do these kids ever learn anything that's not on social media? Do they ever learn anything about any type of addiction?
They certainly don't in England
I don't like that grin on their smug faces. I'm from the UK. I have seen first hand the damage drinking does to people and their families.
I hate it most when watching sports on TV with my young son and his friends and in comes several commercials advertising alcohol! Ridiculous
Too bad you can't talk to the kids that died from drinking
They still wouldn’t listen, they would tell you to leave them alone they had a great time dying.
Nobody ever died from smoking too much weed 🌳
✌️ ☮️ blaze it
this is all a lie, Alcohol may be the best thing that society has ever produced

So the 21drinking age doesn't stop them at all.
Just like "gun free zones" don't do any good.
Why do they need to drink so much when most of their experience is from home! Is there something going on possibly!.........
May be first focus on guns, instead of ruining kids fun.
Good, the weak herd needs to be thinned.
Hollywood sin of glamourising violance, drugs and alcohol.

Very informative but dangerous… Don’t drink and drive.. be smart not stupid. Be a leader and not a follower
