What is wrong with my hub motor?

- Trying to diagnose why my geared hub motor is slipping under power, I've suspected the magnets bonding to the outside shell after ruling everything else out
The only way to tell is to stop it out of its casing, rather dangerous and a bit crackers, but why not

I love how you read/scrolled through the magnet repair website 😂😂
Same s*** happened to mine; it's the magnets that are slipping. Pull them off one at a time. Make sure you keep track where they are, i numbered mine .clean up everything , epoxy back in . Use something good , high heat rated . It worked for mine, I had to do it twice. I used some cheap shit first time , lasted a couple days untill someone who weighed 200 rode it and they came loose.
Definitely the magnets, this problem got me pulling hairs... for days..
I replaced everything, clutch, gears... I was refusing to believe that magnets can actually slip...
I pulled all the magnets, cleaned them with isopropyl, scuffed the surface, then glued them back with CA/superglue, give them a good bath of this stuff, it should hold for a long time, no baking soda needed.
cheers, I needed someone to back me up!
@@chargeriderepeat7024 Try the applying superglue without removing them, too much work and probably overkill, if they come loose again, redo after a good prep.
Permabond 920 high temp glue looks good.
Probably nothing to do with water crossings on an electric. 🧐🤔🤣 Weird that stuff is just glued, and not soldered or welded. Hopefully you can repair it. Cheers !! :)
Yes it is odd, actually that hub was never christened, so I cant blame that
thats the Bafang motor ? I thought those were pretty solid and well reputed. I have no idea what could be wrong, would be weird if the magnets unstuck but I have heard of it happening before, just one or two magnets, what a fail that would be huh ? I wouldn't be surprised if its due to using your bike as a boat, maybe the salt got in and did something to the glue ? but could it actually penetrate far beyond the edges of the magnet ?! is it also possible that your motor overheated and that melted the glue ? very soon I will make giant talon 3 with 72v upp battery, '2kw' direct drive hub motor with mtx 39 wheel, should be very light and nippy bike.
That motor was never used in the water, it failed while I was hill climbing in a quarry.
Pretty extreme use, I repeatedly climbed to failure.
