- It took us another full day but we finally finished laying the LifeProof Flooring in our new house hack. Thanks to some throw back jams and and a little bit of delirium, we laid the final plank and wrapped up this project a bit ahead of time. With some extra time on our hands, we check off a few other renovation boxes and share with you our thoughts on Home Depot's LifeProof Flooring and if we'd use it again.

Awesome video! Sunday morning coffee with Lauren and Kyle makes me happy.
We love spending Sunday morning with you!
Yesss Kyle! I am proud of you having Acceptance on your play list! Hidden gem of a band!
They’re soo good lol
Hey guys, I'm a long term viewer but this is the first time I'm commenting.. Thank you for all the videos and knowledge you share with us. I've learned a ton watching your videos! Great work, keep it up!!
I'm so happy to see you succeeding and it motivates me towards my future RE investing journey!
We’re so happy to know this is helping in some way! Keep grinding and let us know if we can help you at all along your journey!!
I’ve done the lifeproof in our personal kitchen. I also installed it “backwards” at first also; however, as I got to the last pieces I couldn’t get it locked in…ended up redoing it.
Like button smashed!
Yeah that last row is always so tough!
Keep the great lvp advice coming! Thank you sharing!
You got it! Thanks for watching!
Dusk Cherry actually has one of the thinnest wear layers at 6mil. That said, I believe it is one of the best types of wear layers as you can attest after all this time and no scratches. Folks get caught up in wear layer thickness but what is even more important is the quality of the wear layer. We wanted a thick rigid plank and went with it's sister 7mm plank Chiffon lace oak. We could not find anyone selling 7mm or thicker that could compete with Home Depot. For rentals you may want to go something cheaper/lighter as would be easier to install... but for our home we wanted a thick, rigid forever LVP.
Thanks for the video!
Great insight! We've had a turnover with another unit with this flooring and it held up super well. Super happy with it!
It seems Home Depot offers it in 12 mil and 22 mil online.
22 mil is really the only way to go.@@andrewlelea3182
Kyle, I felt your pain Bro.!!! So many times killed myself to get mowing all done, race home, ready to shower & Ange be like can we just stay in??? Soul Crushed!!! House is coming together great guys. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out again!!
Absolutely CRUSHED lol
Such a transformation. Looking forward to the next video!
Super excited how this place is turning out, thanks!
The sadness on his face when she said I don’t wanna go out anymore 😢
Hahah I was reallyyyyy looking forward to Buffalo Wild Wings lol
Acceptance was the bomb! Great sound track!
Sooo good!
Super well done video. The editing is top notch. I used a ton of IKEA. I don't use their base legs. I make may own "ladder". I frame with 1X material. This allows me to drop the base cabinets onto this ladder frame without any shimming or adjusting. In this way the walls can be sprayed and the floor can be completed without the cabinets being in the way. tHanks for the video!
Toe kick. I should of used the name toe kick. I'll video my idea sometime later this year so to better explain. tHanks again for your great videos!
Awesome idea for the fabricated toe kick framing, definitely gonna do that next time we do IKEA, which were huge fans of
@@RentalstoWealth (The best part is that the toe kicks are made of scraps. Once you get used to it...very easy to build and makes the job super easy). Keep up the great videos!
We're using the same flooring in the same color and it was great to see it installed. Good job!
It looks so good, really brightens the space up…you install it yet?
@@RentalstoWealth in a couple weeks!
what is the color if you don't mind me asking?
Get a dedicated guillotine flooring cutter. No dust and you can have it right next to your working area since its light weight and easy to move around. Saves time.
Oh we’ll definitely look into that. Thank you!
Thanks for this video! I’m trying to decide between NuCore and Lifeproof now so very helpful. Have you noticed any difference between how quiet they are?
Glad you found this helpful! As long as your sub floor is solid, we found them to be very quiet. We've also used NuCore in the past and those have held up very well. I THINK the NuCore is slightly louder because it's a harder surface layer.
One more thing... love the thumbnail!
Thank you!!
Great videos as always, thanks for making great content
Thanks Mario!
I love the floors! It’s coming along so nice!!
Slowlyy but def coming together lol
I think you guys have nailed that balance between informational and entertaining. #Infotainment
Yes!! Lol the perfect medium, thanks man
We'll be putting in this exact floor soon. How has it held up so far? any lifts or separations?
Still holding strong! We had a little separation near a transition into another room but that could be user error. We should have used an actual threshold transition piece there.
Great job.
Thanks, Mark! We’re loving how the floors came out.
I like dusk cherry, i ordered in 22 mill, i think it looks good in your video too- but noticed a more nutral (i think?) called Hudpeth Maple, 22 mill. I cant make up my mind! This video helps.
Great video!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m living for the Incubus Dig on repeat in the background.
How good is that song!?!?
Hi! This is the exact brand and color i have picked. Is it holding up well? I have someone in my house hold in a wheel chair, i hope it holds up well!
holding up very well! We just have a few scratches near the stove from install but other wise we love it!
I have friends that have laid LVP in the bedrooms. What they did ahead of time is put those small furniture sliders under each bed foot. I'm thinking it's been at least 3 years now. I'll ask him how the flooring is making out.
Comment number 3!! The YT aligatorrythm is gonna blow up!! Dirty Jersey out again!!
Yea definitely let us know. We’ve used the stick on sliders and they always fall off lol. Maybe we’ll try and find something more permanent
Just a heads up Ikea's inventory is stabilizing quicker than expected. They're also going to offer multiple friends & family events moving forward. And... an employee discount adds to the savings (in case you know someone that works there), just sayin. LOL. I know contractors order multiple kitchen cabinet sets & store them because of the flat packaging. Hoping all is well guys, Dirty Jersey out!!
Ohh good to know! Might take you up on that. Thanks, Mike!
how is the floor fairing with the dog? I am considering Lifeproof for my basement and we own a medium size dog
Great! No scratches. Only wear has been by the stove when we installed it and basically dragged it across the floor.
Another great video as always! How do you two manage two full-time jobs, the rentals, renovations, and then filming and editing these videos?
It will be worth it in the long run though!
It’s definitely A LOT. We don’t have children yet which helps so we’re trying to grind it out as much as we can before then. But we know what we’re doing isn’t sustainable so we’re working on outsourcing more tasks. For example we actually hired an editor for these videos a month or so ago and we’ll be diving out all of renovations on future projects. Time to work more ON the business than IN the business .
@@RentalstoWealth A bit of a random question here - but how did you go about hiring out an editor? Any particular sites you recommend?
Hi! We got lucky and mentioned we were looking for an editor on a podcast so we had a few people reach out to us directly. We’ve looked on upwork and think that’s where’d we go when we look for another one.
@@RentalstoWealth appreciate the reply!
Doing research on this floor because I’m installing it in my house and came across your video! Do you think it gives off a grey look? I’m trying to avoid grey but some of the review pictures people have posted of the floor looks totally grey. Let me know your thoughts!
Hi! No, we had the same concern. We don’t feel like it gives off a gray feel and goes well wilt hour brown based wood furniture. It’s held up great so far and we love it!
Great video as always. Thanks for the tip on setting cabinets first. Does that same rule apply to a washer and dryer, or can the flooring handle the weight of those?
I’ve put it in laundry rooms under appliances with no problems. Also installed stoves and refrigerators on it with no issues.
@@conniesisco6468 awesome! Thank you
Appliances should sit on top of vinyl plank.
Hey guys. Do you still recommend this LVP or if you have any other LVP recommendations? I'm installing LVP in a couple of bedrooms and am choosing between the Lifeproof, MSI and Home Decorators Collection brands at Home Depot. Lifeproof is selling for $3.50/sq. ft., Home Decorators Collection is $2.79/sq. ft. and MSI is $2.46/sq. ft. Just wondering if Lifeproof is worth the extra cost.
Hey Paul! We haven't used the other brands so we can't speak comparatively. But we can say that these floors have held up great. We have a dog who is always running around and we haven't noticed a single scratch or chip. We would buy again.
Great video! I’m curious if you get the clickety-clack like a laminate flooring on these floating planks. I’ve always used glue down planks because I’m worried about that.
I know EXACTLY what you mean..it seems with the soft composite backing lifeproof) and on NuCore it’s a cork backing, you don’t get that clicking from any low spots
@@RentalstoWealth Awesome!! Thank you! I’ve been scared to try it for that reason. I’ll give it a go on my next one!
nice video. im curious, do you buy a house a year with a 3.5 down payment ?
Thank you! That’s a bit difficult. A 3.5% down payment typically means it’s an FHA loan and you can only have one active FHA loan in your name at once. You can certainly buy a new house hack each year utilizing different low down payment options but it would be difficult for them all to be 3.5%. Send us an email or DM us on IG if you want to talk about this more!
Curious, not that I'm a neat freak, but why not do a quick mop and clean up the floors before laying the new floor down?
We swept lol it’s all stained up with old paint and spackle marks. You definitely want to get rid of any inconsistencies in floor height (staples, clumps of spackle, etc).
How has it been holding up?
So good! The only scratches we have are from installing the stove which we did while renovating. Haven't seen any wear & tear from our everyday use. We love it!
What happened to the rodent from inside the wall lol? Nice job with the reno!
Local pest control is coming this week to investigate, we’ll keep you posted!
This is good view🤣🤣🤣. Your gun have to 2 adjustment for single shooting one nail at the time, and serious shooting three Nails at the time.
Yeaa I tried that, it doesn’t make a difference..it’s a faulty gun lol
How come you guys didn’t use tapping blocks?
Tapping blocks can definitely work. I think they work a little better with like a tongue and groove style hardwood. I’ve had the little lip of the groove break using a block so I try to avoid it if I can
@@RentalstoWealth gotcha. Yeah, those tongue and groove LVP can be tricky. Def’ ruined a few during our latest install.
What type of dog is that?
He’s a rescue! But he was DNA tested and came back as a mix of beagle, chihuahua, husky, chow chow, and pit.
Just purchased this floor for $2.79
Great price!
Acceptance band FTMFW take cover @6:24
You should never be hammering the tongue or groove directly.
You should of used Modin Flooret. It's the Mercedes of LVP with 40 mil rating and wide plank.
Their stuff is nice! I’ll keep them in mind for the next one.. I’m seeing like every color is back ordered right now too lol must be good
12:24-12:32 Lol.
Hahah 💔
"Put them on your person" .. Cop talk hahah
Hahah I had to go back and check where I said that, and it was Lauren! Lol I actually started laughing, good catch
@@RentalstoWealth hahah, the wives pick it up from us ;)
F*** renting.
Great video!
Thank you!
