So it's more because now he understands why Riku did what he did, and exactly what his problem was and even if he's not sure how to help him it's much more of a relief.
I remember I used to watch my older brother and my aunt play kingdom hearts as a kid and i used to get so emotional while watching them play 😭. Now I’m 22 going down memory lane.
He knew Kairi was safe. He had a chance to go with her at the end of KH, but he chose to go and look for Riku, he spent a year trying to find him, searching world after world, getting his hopes up, getting his hopes dashed, searching for his best friend. And then Riku just comes back, out of nowhere, his search is over; he's got his best friend back. It makes perfect sense.
The really sad thing about Roxas disappearing is that it was completely unnecessary. Sora needed his memories back to wake up, but remember that 358/2 partially overlaps with Chain of Memories, so we can see BOTH of them were awake and about at the same time. Namine could have taken Sora's memories from Roxas and given them back to him without Roxas needing to fade. But DiZ got rid of Namine so that she couldn't save Roxas, and then forced Roxas to return to Sora. All because that jackass hates nobodies even though it was Xemnas who killed him, not the other nobodies.

Kingdom Hearts is the best game I've ever played. It's heart-warming, touching, sad, and yet happy at the same time. Kingdom Hearts also has parts just want to make you cry. Even the characters are great role models. Sora is kind, and his light shines brighter than even the sun and stars themselves. Kairi is a nice girl, and doesn't want to feel like she's being saved all the time. She wants to join in to help her friends. There are many other characters connected to each other in a way.

I think that's natural. The game already heavily implies Sora and Kairi being an item, with Roxas and Naminé supporting the claim. In Sora's perspective, he had thought Kairi was safe at Destiny Islands, further relieving him of worry for her safety. His goal has been to find Riku (aside from saving the worlds) and it's been a frustrating task with Riku always being "on-the-run". So with Kairi's sudden appearance in the World That Never Was, I don't think Sora had enough to formulate an appropriate response, especially with the time that's gone by, whereas Riku has been an objective and priority since he has been gone technically longer than Kairi and would be harder to convince unlike Kairi. Sora was just reassured of her safety yet again. Riku on the other hand is both stoked in darkness and constantly neglecting to return with Sora and Kairi. So to finally find Riku, who's been in front of Sora's face without him knowing is indeed highly stressful, causing him to break down in relief that his long lost friend has been found, in more ways than one. Both physically finding him, and returning with him from darkness.
i agree with kira wolf, this is more than just a game to me also, it got me through some pretty tough times in my life and i don't know where i would be today if i hadn't played this terrific game series, kingdom hearts saved me and i want to support it every step of the way because of that

And Sora fell asleep in Days around the time Roxas woke up from his coma (Roxas was comatose while Sora was in CO). So I believe Sora went to sleep around Day 50 or so, but I'd have to replay the game to double check.

As sad as it is, there's a few new parts this video could hold like Kairi crying in the credits to KH1, or the new stuff between the time this video was made and the new games came out, such as Blank Points. I have no doubt that when KH3 comes out, it won't fail to keep up the tradition for one of the greatest series ever.

I was young when I first played Kingdom Hearts. The scene where Sora impalas himself with the key blade messed me up. I cried. I thought the game was over. (this was before I had an concept of how stories were structured. Now that I’m older I know how video stories work but back then I was devastated.) Then you play as a heartless and I was just fucking unable to play. It was an early emotional moment for me. Did eventually keep play though. And balled my eyes out at the end.
When I first played it and I got to Sora's death I was sad but I loved the version of simple and clean and go back watch that clip just for the music it's so peaceful. Wish I could find it somewhere else just the music.

if i remember correctly its going to be the final mixes of KH1 and 2 as well so we get a lot of extra goodies in the line of extra and "Deleted scenes"

Oh my glooberglobber. Every "saddest kingdom hearts parts "videos i've seen, none of them have the flippen sora and kairi departure at the end of the first game!!! Im a Sora Kairi Fan, and I havent seen that once.
I always remember Donald yelling for Sora to come back when Sora released all the princesses of heart's hearts.

There was Xion's death and Axel's "Oh, so you remember me now? I'M SO FLATTERED!" KH2 was the first time I saw Axel, yet that scene brought tears to my eyes. T_T
