@@flandox6659 We would completely cancel it out in The Netherlands, displaying red throughout the bridge opening, giving pedestrians a constant green light. It can even be used as a pre-emptive light: display red long enough for the bridge to be completely clear of traffic, than activate the bridge-warning lights and bells. Some bridges then only activate amber lights first, switching to red after 5 seconds, and then also activating the bells. I liked the 'oh yeah I still have some Christmaslights up in the attic' style of lightchain above the road, flashing in the same sequence as the rest of the lights. I can't think of a single bridge that has something like it here (we also don't have bi-level bridges as far as I know, so that isn't all that odd)
Thank you. The lights that are flashing on top used to come down as a extra barrier in on the topside there’s a light rail line called the CTA and this one above us is the pink and green line, I do agree that the traffic light should be synced with the bridge signal
@@flandox6659 The elevated tracks Dont have signals except for the Usual Stop and stay signals all the rail lines here have. But From what I seen before, It would Display above a Red over Red Signal For the rail operators, Which Means For them to stop and stay.
So I finally got to see this bridge in action. Weirdly enough, the lights all went off fine but the bells didn't come to life until the bridge was fully raised.
There is: chicagoloopbridges.com/schedule.html In the spring, the sailboats come up the south branch, going into the main branch, and then going to the lake. In the fall it is opposite of the spring sailboat route where they go from the lake and down south the south branch of the Chicago river.
What’s with all the pedestrians trying to beat the bridge? They’re getting caught on the wrong side of the barrier. I get it, everyone is in a hurry but really?
Keep in mind the top layer of this bridge is L trackage, and they kept the bridge down with gates closed long enough for a train to pass (you hear it at 2:20). Rising the bridge is coordinated/cleared with CTA, so they could spare enough time to let those first few folks through.
There is A Pre Announcement beforehand, about 10-20 seconds before the lights are activated. Many people still disregard that, or They wear headphones not listening

The traffic light has nothing to do with the bridge signal, it’s used for the pedestrian crosswalk near it
