    So I put a tiny pin sized hole in the lid of my brushos and left the pin in to seal the hole. Like a pushpin. So then I can just sprinkle out the tiny hole. Plus if you sprinkle them the powder makes a range of colors in water before you mix them. Very cool!

    For alcohol markers or colored pencils, I sometimes mix the oranges and browns. For my neocolor IIs, I have them in a red tin with the reds, pinks and peaches

      Browns and oranges is a good shout. I have done something similar with browns and all the lighter peachy tones. I didn’t realise I had so many!

    Belated Happy Birthday! Great haul. 2 tips: try mixing a tiny amount of the inktense purple with your yellows etc to get a beautiful desaturated palette and if you feel you need to restrict buying, concentrate on dry media. I've wasted money by hoarding paints and markers that deteriorate over time. Looking forward to seeing how you use your new stuff😊.

      I will try to add the purple like you said! I really don’t like purple so I got to find a way to use it 😂 good note about the dry material, I had a bunch of copics I got in my first year of drawing and half of them are dry now as I never used them.

    Nice haul! Brusho works the best on watercolour paper. I’ve seen people make a shaker out of their jars by poking small holes in the lid and then sealing them with tape after use. Also helpful is a small spritzer bottle.

    So glad you talked about the issues with Jackson’s website. I thought it was just some shocking connection with us that live in Australia. And, I won’t even comment on the Australian Jackson’s site 😣. So slow, glitchy, tedious. Anyway, great haul. Thanks again.

      It has been bad for years, but the new update is truly awful. I went back on the other day to see if they had something and the items I bought on the phone were still in my basket. So I tried to delete them and it was taking 58 seconds per item to delete. So i messaged them again so they could just delete them all. I know they have a lot of stuff on the site, but there must be a better way of doing the images or something to make the site faster. Considering how many people use it.

    Happy late birthday, glad you are enjoying it with art supplies! Some gorgeous colors in there. I'd probably try the tip of a metal palette knife to get the brusho out.
    The Faber-Castell Goldfaber Aqua markers move a lot more with water added when you use it with watercolor paper (even cellulose). Looks like it's sinking into the Pith paper. They are my current favorites for watercolor marker--I think they move and blend better than Ecoline!

    “After this I’m probably just not going to buy anything else” lol. I say this exact thing every time. And the next day I’m back adding stuff to my cart. Also, the Jacksons website is horrible now. I felt your pain. Every time I load it now, I get an overlay asking if I want to use the Australian store. I click yes, and then the overlay just comes back asking if I want to go to the Australian store. Rinse and repeat. Absolute nightmare.
    That brusho looks super cool. I just read a review where someone was saying they punch a hole in the lid. So maybe that’s how you use it, just shake it out like salt?? I’m def getting some, so I think I’ll try that method because I am super clumsy and don’t do well with open containers.
    Loved seeing all of your goodies, and looking forward to part 2.

      The Australian one sounds even worse! Hopefully they can sort it out as I don’t think many people are happy with it.

    So much good stuff! I immediately went and looked up the fleur Matt paint and they’re so expensive here $12.99 but then again they’re still cheaper compared to the Molotow chunky markers 😅 loved the peachy color in the inktense pencil. Brusho powders look so rich and intense. Love it!

    • @monkeymintaka
      @monkeymintaka  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes, the paint was so expensive here too! That’s why I grabbed such a random selection of colours on sale. They did dry really nicely so I will just see when they are on sale and maybe get a few more colours :)

    You missed one pink (Caran D'ache I think), but as long as you have the swatch for yourself, it's fine.
    I was thinking about the brusho on the carpet thing, I would most probably send it to the cleaners or call them over. They have professional items, but I would certainly want to see the look on their faces!

      Ahh did I? There was a lot, so I’m not surprised I missed one :) I will just be really careful with the brusho. We are renting now and all the carpets were brand new when we moved in and they are all a light grey so everything shows up. I already have some green paint spots 🙈

    Ugh, don't get me started with the Jackson's site... 😖 It's been quite crap ever since they switched over from the old style (so, what, ten years?). I really don't want to use it, so much so that I no longer look at their selection first like I used to and haven't shopped with them for years and years. They've taken the joy out of browsing for art supplies which is quite a feat !!!
    I'm going to feel sick after typing this but... I have everything in this haul but the chalk paints and Liquitex Acrylic Gouache (such as it is, I object to it in principle 😂). Not necessarily the same colours, though. 😂
    As some sort of a professional-ish coloured pencil person, I do agree that watersoluble pencils tend to feel quite similar to each other. There's a lot more variation in the feel of permanent coloured pencils.
    It was quite interesting to see the new colours grouped like this! Very pretty.
    And happy belated birthday. 🤗

      @monkeymintaka  4 місяці тому

      Thankyou :) I definitely feel you with the Jackson’s comment, I’ve also started looking in other places now before I buy. It’s such a shame as they could be a really great site and resource for artists. I really like their blogs, but the shopping experience is terrible.
