I wish everyone took the time to make their side gardens look so beautiful. Some of the people on our street use the side yard for garbage cans and junk. In my zone 6 I have planted hosta's and foxglove as well as bleeding hearts and made it into a sort of woodland garden as it is very shady. I have a chair and small table that I can just sit and enjoy this quiet space. I call it my Zen garden.
Your zen garden sounds beautiful!!! That’s exactly how I feel about side gardens or areas that are super shady they can become really specially places. This area is the coolest in our garden and we noticed everyone gravitates towards it when it’s hot including our dogs 😄. I love the sound of your table and chair. 🙏💐💚💚💚💚💚💚
Thank you for this great video. I'm glad that you took away the edge. A natural look is so much more you. And gardening is creating and creating is a dynamic process so changing in views happens. You are great gardeners and parents. It's so wonderful to hear that you take your children's idea's seriously. They have refreshing ideas, they are able to think out of the box. I'm looking forward to your gardenyourney. I'm sure it will be as wonderful as the one you had in Virginia. With regards from the Netherlands, Lily
Congratulations on your new home I’ve missed you both and the kids you look so relaxed and happy moving is so stressful can’t wait to see what you do with place 🌸🦋🌷
I started following your guy's Channel because of your awesome container ideas. I have a vole problem and I started putting my stuff in containers so that they couldn't eat the roots and your channel was one of my Inspirations for my own yard. I am so happy that you guys finally get to plant stuff in the ground.❤
It's been awhile since I have seen you! So good to see you're still doing vedios. It'll be fun to see how it all develops. I love new projects. Blessings!! 😊
Jubilee Celebration does have one of the most intoxicating beautiful rose fragrances! I love it! We had two one didn’t make it and another we past along before we moved. I love how you describe the fragrance. I might have to get another one again. 😃🙏💐💚💚💚💚💚💚
Congrats on your new home. It does feel so amazing to put roots down . I'm in the same position in my life, and I couldn't be happier! It's really cool that your kids are involved. They'll be future gardeners I bet because of your enthusiasm for your garden and letting them give you creative input as well.
Jose and Josh thanks for coming around. It sure does feel great to be able to get things going. It will be an exciting season with a bigger landscape to work with.
Im really interested in seeing how hydrangea will survive this summer. Ive always wanted to grow them but they always fry in our heat. I hope yours turn out gorgeous!
Southern ca 9b here and I just moved my hydrangeas to an exact area of my garden the side of the house that faces North, where I had them before was way too much sun and they would wilt daily in the summer 😂 idk how they survived. I’m exited to see how they do this year
Hello Cali!!! 😃 We lived there for a while and it was paradise you couldn’t keep me away from the beach. 🏖️ That is amazing how the hydrangeas survived in the southern part of your garden that’s great! They will do amazing now that they get more shade. 😃 Plants are tough! Keep us posted! Happy gardening! 💚💚💚💚💚💚
Awwwwh that warms my heart to hear the children sketching garden plans❤ I agree with the removal of the edging. When you first held it up… I was thinking…that’s going to feel kind of formal. I always think of secret gardens as haphazardly whimsical. I think you are going to have that.
Hi 🌺.Well done . These pretty hydrangeas are going to be amazing in your garden and you can add blue hydrangea to them ، so that you can enjoythe beauty of all their flowers . Have a wonderful day .🌺🌻🌺
Congratulations on your first breaking ground! Secret Garden name sounds and is looking beautiful. I enjoy your videos so much, thank you for sharing your garden journey.
Hi Guys. The minute I heard plastic edging.. I literally cringed. I hate them. They look gross. I use stones for all my garden beds. Which I collected around my yard & neighborhood for free lol. Angie, happy that you’re taking in the enjoyment of digging & planting in the ground again. I felt your emotions ❤
That plastic edging yuck!!! 😂 It might come in handy somewhere else but not there! 😅 I’m doing the same with all the stones rocks I’m digging out as we are working the ground. I’ll be using it in this area. 🙏💐💚💚💚💚💚💚
This is going to be beautiful, I love side gardens and secret gardens, I've been working on mine i keep adding to it I agree with Angie i love the plants to create the pathway.🕊️💚🇺🇸
Great video. Love how you two work well together. My hubby and I split garden chores, he cares for lawn and other heavy duty stuff (stone border, irrigation) and I plant and care for plants. Big DA rose fan here too. I have a few macrophilla hydrangeas in pots but a huge lemon lime in ground. It does ok but the blooms never make it till fall to get that pink fall color. They brown around September. Still beautiful though…it gets about 3 hours of sun. Love the ending blooper chica!
Congratulations - on the new secret garden , can’t wait to see what it looks like at the end of the season , the great thing about zone 9 gardening in Texas , is that we have a very long growing season and (despite some horrible freezes) our winters are typically very mild . And yes you guys are correct , best time to plant is fall , it gives them plenty of time to root in before our extremely hot 🥵 summers.
So happy you are planting. Angie you are beautiful. DO not hide from the camera. Have you thought about painting your side of the fence all one color to unify your space. Ive been watching you for a while now so I know what ever you do will be beautiful. Be well 🌺
Not a scarf, it’s a shemagh and I own a few of them which I used when deployed in Afghanistan. Mainly to protect from the heat and abrasive soils but can be used to protect the head and neck from the sun.
That area looks very narrow for how big those Oak leaf Hydrangeas will get to me.I also haven't noticed any widows to look out to see that area from inside. I say that because when summer arrives I don't see many people wanting to get outside in the Texas heat.I'm just saying.I planted some Oak leaf Hydrangeas on the side of my house as well and I have windows that are much higher up so I can't really look out to enjoy them. My neighbor however does and she loves to see them from her kitchen window.I only get to see them when I cut the lawn or riding up the street from that direction which I never travel.
I think they would like a place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with some table and chairs. The smallest spaces are the cosiest. You should get a chair and sit to enjoy your side garden.
We get to enjoy from our upstairs window looking down. It’s the most coolest area in our garden and a path we use a lot to come in and out daily. Texas heat is brutal! We do love being outdoors that’s a huge reason for having a garden to go out and enjoy it we will find the time of day in summer to still head out. We’ve lived in hotter climates and still enjoyed the outdoors very much. This is an area that usually could be forgotten but we want to make it special. The Oakleaf hydrangeas can be cut back and shaped nicely after flowering. We will see with time it’s all about just getting out there and having fun! Can’t wait to see them in bloom! 😃🙏💐💚💚💚💚💚💚
@@katethegardener I agree however again this is in Texas heat and humidity . I ask you how many people have patios/decks and never ever use them? I see it all the time here in Atlanta and we don't get to temperatures of Texas. I'm lucky enough to have a very dense shady backyard that allows me some comfort from the summer sun, heat and southern humidity. If someone hasn't lived in regions of the south where it's the humidity and not the heat outside life is limited.
@@GardenObsessions OK happy gardening and that's what it's about anyway. Try it out and see if that's what you want and if not change it move it as your see fit if your needs change.
Angie, Ambrose,
Another "Secret Garden"--I like that. ❤😊

Hi there !
I'm very excited and curious to see the progress of your new garden!
I would like to send you a beautiful rose bush. How can i do this?
Do you own David Austin’s jubilee celebration? It smells other worldly…. Love watching you guys!

Going to look great! I am in analysis paralysis with my garden. I guess I just need to plant and move it later if I don’t like it!
You can do it! You just have to commit to being adaptive.
That's going to be so pretty when it takes hold and starts to grow and bloom!
Can’t wait! 😃🙏💐💚
It must feel amazing to finally get planting in the new garden! Can’t wait to see it all come together!

Now to wait for the summer heat! 🥵 Hopefully that cooler area of the garden is helpful to the hydrangeas. 😃🙏💐💚

May I ask what's the difference between "top soil" & "garden soil"??? 🤔
Blooper! Chingao too funny. Thank you for that simple and very informative video. See you next time. I am in zone 9a Florida

Morning sun and a bit of late afternoon sun. 💚💚💚💚💚💚
