WaterBox Peninsula from unboxing to adding fish

I was running 12 gallon Fluval edge for all my fish which I switch into this tank using all my live rock, media and sand that contain bacteria. I also used the same water meaning I did not had to worry on water parameter. This made me easy to go from unboxing to adding fish on same day...just to be on safe side I added a bottle of bio spira for more bacteria....
The tank is 20inch long 14 inch deep / height

in my tank, (i have the same one) the return pump compartment gets very low on water and the heater that i put in there is not usually submerged all the way, is this just my tank?
