- In today's video, we are finally adding fish to our Waterbox 20 Cube. This will be a nano reef build, and we can't wait to get it going! As you probably guessed, we're going with clown fish, as this tank size and dimensions are perfect for a pair.
In a previous video, we discussed the equipment and setup of this tank. You can find and watch that here:

That pair of long fin clownfish for 250 was a steal!
Mario at Aquatica is the best. His fish are always top quality and pest free. We are blessed to have such a great and big reefing community in Chicagoland.
Love that fish store! I got a black ice clown there recently, little guy is gorgeous.
Going to buy this tank! Thanks for the review!!
No problem - good luck with yours! 👌🏻
Neature walks!
Love the clownfish! Nice tank.
Also form Oak Lawn IL area so I will be heading to Aquatica for supplies and fish!
Love the set up!
Soooo cute.. can't wait for more additions to your tank..
Thanks! Just added some coral and inverts 👍🏻
Nice setup!
Thanks!
Nice tank🐟😊👍
Beautiful tank and setup! I'm in week 3 of my Waterbox Cube 20 cycle. I also used the TurboStart 900 with NitroCycle from Algaebarn. I'm planning on getting a pair of gladiator or picasso clownfish in a week. It's so hard to decide! Looking forward to your next video!
Thank you, and good luck with your setup!
Nice and simple!
Dream setup ❤️🔥👏
I love aquatica. Mario is awesome!
Agreed - one of my favorite spots!
you should check out reef geeks. Might be closer to you than aquatica is since you’re downtown. His Facebook has a recent live video of his current stock. Prices are crazy!
u got nice comedic taste mate, well done
Enjoyed the video
Dude the fish look awesome 👏🏻
Thank you!
Yo that tank is SICK!!! I love it so much i just bought one
Thank you, and best of luck with yours!
If you have issues with the chaeto melting/turning white, I would suggest Brightwell aquatics Chaeto grow to help with the lack of nutrients in your new tank. Looks good!
Thanks for the tip! I was looking into options for this actually
Thats pree neat
Can’t wait for the corals 😍
Coming soon! 👍🏻
You prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the account password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Crew Karson instablaster =)
Great video bro 👍
Thanks!
Awesome choice champ
Thanks man!
So when you get corals try to get a tester coral like some hardy lps coral and then you can move up to some SPS in the future when your tank is stable to sustain harder corals.
Those were my thoughts as well. Definitely going to be careful when choosing them
hi I love to see more updates on this Little beautiful tank its would be much better with corals
A school of 3 cardinals would go great in there!
Of pajama cardinals only. All other cardinals tend to kill each other unless kept as a group of 6 in tanks around 125g to 200g minimum.
I would have named the one guy Jigsaw, because of the puzzle piece on his side. Still, they're just too damn cute! Nice job! :)
NICE
Great idea with the chaeto. I will be watching to see how you tweek it. Just ordered the Nano glow. I've got a waterbox 20 thats three months in.
Thanks! Best of luck with yours. Getting close to corals in this one 👌🏻
@@CichlidBros Spoke with a gal at algae barn and she said no need for the chaeto to tumble just needs adequate flow and light.
I'm thinking of doing the same setup with a 20 gallon Waterbox. Love the idea of adding chaeto. Are you happy you made that modification?
My daughters been begging me for a “nemo” tank I just didnt realize even a really small setup would be thousands.
I had to do SOOOOOOmuch research on my first saltwater tank it’s crazy how much really goes into a saltwater vs freshwater but I love saltwater (no offense to fresh) and I have two tanks somehow!
im gonna start with my first tank, which one do u recommend for beginner?
@@DragonSkaterrr are you doing saltwater or freshwater? If you’re doing saltwater go with a bigger tank so the parameters don’t swing as much, but if you’re doing freshwater you can start on any size you’d like as long as you’ve done your research :). Especially research saltwater!!
@@danimoller9465 ive done alot of research on both, im currently keeping freshwater, 30 neon tetras, 4 panda corys, 1 bristlenose pleco, and 2 mystery snails that have laid eggs, but i wanna get into saltwater but im not sure about how to set up the filtration, should i get a all in 1 set or something, i do want the 60L dennerle
@@DragonSkaterrr personally I went for the all in one setup since it was a little bit cheaper (and smaller 10 gallons) for me, but I would recommend going bigger so the parameters don’t swing as much, but also it might cost a little more to buy all the filtration. It really depends on how much you’re willing to spend on it
Awesome. What kind of inverts are you going to add?
I used to go to that fish store all the time as a kid then go over to Rubinos and grab some lunch.
The owner of Aquatica is related to the owners of Rubinos 🙂
@@sebastianm3014 no shit? That's pretty damn cool. Anytime I got back to Chicago to visit family Rubinos is a mandatory stop. Sadly I can't bring anything back home to FL from the fish store.
If your in Chicago join Chicago area reef group on Facebook if you have Facebook a lot of stuff for saltwater
Can't wait to get into salt! Into brackish now to acclimate myself for salt! Started a channel for it aswell :)
Greeting👍👍blessing🙌👍💪
Would love a little saltwater tank if it wasn’t so expensive
I already did the research and I'm ready but all I need is the money lol
Save up
@@ohhMando I am lol
Try Blue Line Coral coral store at Niperville, you will love it.
I'll check it out soon!
Talk to Mario at Aquatica, he’s got a glazier that can cut you a glass lid for the water box. Makes a huge difference with evaporation. 👍🏼
Love the tank! I am thinking of getting this or a Biocube 29. I am leaning towards the waterbox. Appreciate any feedback.
Thanks! It’s been a great tank so far
Have the same dilemma, but i also noticed there is a "Peninsula mini" from Waterbox which has more depth than the cube.
just subscribed. Have a WB 220 myself. They make such great looking tanks. Thought about a lid yet? I went with one from OctoLid. Kinda pricey but I wanted a lid that was flush. Couple other companies make flush ones too
Welcome to the channel! I actually just got a lid from the Kraken Reef
@@CichlidBros Does a lid spoil the shimmering on the rocks of the light?
@@Harolddespui not really with the lid I picked up. It has mesh wiring across the middle so light goes right thru
Love this whole setup and them clowns are beautiful
Thank you! Pretty excited to keep them 👌🏻
I've got the same waterbox but it's just sooo hard to decide which clowns to choose 😋
Hello, I have a WB 20 and thinking about adding a refugium can you do an update on how it's working?
What is holding that algae in the refuge I’m in place? I can’t find that product on the Algae Barn site. Is it from somewhere else?
I'm nervous for salt water...I have a tank running now with no fish going through the cycle...My wife tried clowns while I was wrkng in America but they died so I'm back in America and gonna try clowns myself to maybe teach her...I have test kits etc and to check salt I just hope I can do it
I really don't like seeing the chaeto when the refugium light is on.😱 Could there be a remedy for it I wonder?
Did the refugium starter pack come with a holder box of did you just put the chat right in the middle section . How did you separate it from the carbon and bio block?
I had exactly that same question.
Chris Pfister Chris, it does not. I put mine in the middle section of my intank chamber insert and used the nano grow magnetic light on the back of the tank
I had a great fish place in Skokie, but I just realized the other day they closed down, of course I realize it as I’m trying to get into saltwater aquariums 🥲 might have to make the drive to Tinley.
Does your aquarium have skimmers? Is a skimmer necessary for a 60 liter aquarium (clown fish only)? Thank you for your help
I have a reef glass nano skimmer, but overall it's not totally necessary. Skimmers remove waste before it has the chance to breakdown, usually decreasing the amount of water changes needed. If you have a solid WC schedule already, you could do without one
Why did you cycle it for four weeks and use a turbo start at the beginning?
Faus 3 just to make sure it was completely cycled. Didn’t want to rush things
I have a 2 gallon SPS reef
Hope you're not going to change name to clown brothers , just kidding great content
In an environment where they thrive (not just live) they grow up to 7 inches.
Why a refugium in a tank so small? Water changes are so easy to remove nutrients
Wanted to test it out
@@CichlidBros makes sense
Black storm clowns are only $600 too $800 each in Australia. Y'all in America have it fucking sweet. We pay 50× the price for the same shit most of it comes from our reefs
any tank updates coming for this tank?
Coming soon! Everything is still running great and inverts have been added. Corals are soon and then a video to follow 👍🏻
Why types of clown did u decide to go with?
It tells you in the video!
I like this cutie pie
u might need more flow on that chaeto haha it should tumble
Noted. Actually had been looking into this recently
What are the dimensions of your aquarium?
What’s the name of tank ?
why did you shave your beard dude? keep it!
Sps corals are overrated. Aim for a euphyllia garden. Will look beautiful in that nano. Just make sure those torches aren’t close to the frogspawn and hammers.
80 dollars on fish
Nope, but had that been true, not even a problem
