Great tip about the DM of hashtags. If you edit a post you can copy the text and hashtags and click X to not make any changes and copy the tags elsewhere. I sometimes email the hashtags to myself. You could keep an email draft or a google doc with a multitude of hashtags to reuse. Type on the computer, accessible on the mobile.
Instant subscribe after I watched your 13 tips on instagram post - I love your depth of thought & you give such sage advice. I've been trying to grow my instagram for so long but my introverted perfectionist self hates it so much!! You've no idea how much your advice helps me psychologically! THANK YOU!!
You can copy your hashtags with your phone. Just go to your internet browser on your phone and go to your post you can copy it like normal tekst. And love the video!
Oh my God. First of all bless you for having the first UA-cam I found in 10 years that actually helps with Instagram. Really I appreciate you. And I put so much effort into hashtags and that groups of 10 just changed my life all of the suggestions were brilliant I appreciate you you saved me like three hours next year of my life🤣🤣🤣❤️🙏🏼
Hi Jonny, I'm a skydiving stunt coordinator and cinematographer in Los Angeles who is finally beginning to embrace the value of promoting my work on social media, so I'm very new to all of this. Your videos are straight forward and it feels like the points you're teaching are a good approach overall, so I'm taking notes and excited to get started. Thanks for this!
Very useful, thanks Jonny! Just to let you know, you can actually copy and paste hashtags on mobile (on Android anyway) - you need to choose the three dots menu on the post, 'edit post', then select and copy, and then exit and you can paste elsewhere.
Excellent tips Jonny. I agree with choosing the less used hashtags because it definitely would reach more people than the crowded hashtags. All of your points are absolutely awesome especially number 9 which I believe is the most valuable.
I’ve recently subscribed and enjoying your content. I use the text replacement feature to add my hashtags in a group, really easy to set up as well. Saves having to copy & paste from a note.
thx jon. good hashtag tips. i bought your presets. interiors. really sweet tones and I like that they really work best on darker inside shots that need a color and or contrast boost. as a starter anyway then I edit.
Thanks loads for that mate, I'm glad you're enjoying them and I'm glad you're using them that way, that was the idea. Some are extreme but really good for certain situations.
Cheers for the tips and for putting out an video filled with actual tips and information :). one question, how do you view the hashtags that are working for you? could you please make a video on this :). I mostly do landscape, street and creative photography.
While we're grading your paper, there's an extra space in the word "and" in tip number 9. 7:46 But you probably did that on purpose, meaning aaaannnndd! Solid video! Enjoyed it!
You absolutely can copy and paste hashtags from previous posts. Go to the post you want to use the hashtags from and select “edit”. Long press screen and “select all” then “copy”. Go to your new post and “paste”. Done!
Cheers Jonny....Great information to help with instagram hashtag as I have only just started to concentrate on them more, in the past I found them a little mystfiying, good quality info, Thank you.
Great video, thanks for all the advice. One correction: you can copy hashtags from mobile. Simply go to the post you want to copy them from, click the 3 little dots in the top right corner and then click on 'edit'. (On iPhone) you can now tap anywhere to get the option to select everything and then copy it. When I've copied everything, I click Cancel on the top left corner and then I post a new picture where I paste the text I just copied.
Hashtags can also be easily be added into your clipboard (Android at least) on your phone and you can lock and unlock per need. I have a clipboard of landscape mountain, landscape desert, concert photography, portraits, headshot, dance ... They're all not too long and they're easy to mix and match. They stay there as long as I want in a group of 1 to 20 #.
Love this video - i'm trying to push my insta this year! And hashtags have always been something I've worked on/struggled with! I'm now a subscriber!!!!
Great videos and useful Tipps. I do mainly wildlife photography and haven’t found the right # yet. Also love to shoot architecture and landscape but this will mess up my feed. I love to have a clean feed but on the other hand I am too lazy for a second or third account for different genres.
Hi, I really enjoy your videos. They're really clear and your suggestions make such sense and are really easy to follow. I'm using your advice to grow a dog account, really cheesy I know, but I'm using it to learn about social media but also improve my photography and IT skills. Thanks for putting the time into these videos.
Great video Jonny! Definitely some great tips in here as usual. I have a whole note section of different hashtags I use, I try to switch them up now and then. For instance, when I travel to a place, I use local hashtags relative to that place mixed with more generic landscape photography hashtags. Seems to work well. Some places, like Edinburgh, have off the charts hashtag engagement, while other places I've visited is hit or miss. Thanks again for a great video, always very helpful. Have a great weekend and stay safe over there.
That's a perfect way to do it. You're right some places have a really engaged hashtag following. It usually correlates with a niche tourist or enthusiast community, rather than mainstream holiday travel.
late to the party, but instead of using desktop only to copy hashtags from previous posts, you could always copy them from the original post on mobile by hitting edit post, then select, copy, save changes, paste to new post. thanks for the other tips though, extremely useful.
Great videos mate! I recently stambled over your videos and they help a lot! After almost 3 years just taking pictures and putting them on insta without any more effort from my side, I thought i give insta and youtube a real chance and there came your videos quite handy! Definitely got me thinking about what i really " want to do" with my pictures and getting out the the mindset "i need more likes likes likes"! Cheers Daniel, keep up the good work!
I'm just getting started with social media management and your content has been extremely helpful! I look forward to your videos regularly :D Quick question: How do I know exactly which hashtag worked for me?
You just have to keep an eye on them, if you start getting a bunch of likes from people that don't follow tap on the hashtags and see if your post is ranking.
This may be a dumb question but do you think is better posting one single photo at a time or maybe including more photos (2, 3, 5) in one single post is a better practice?
Brilliant video thanks. Well delivered and to the point, no faff. I'm a small business owner who works full time as well. Failing a bit on Instagram as alot of my community is people posting the same stuff. Seems useless. I'm a lazy 'hashtagger' so going to try these tips Cheers!'
hello! i just started my photography account @toomirephotos and was wondering if you have any advice for emu account specifically. I definitely will be using these tips!
Very useful content.. Really loved the information! I always used to put in most popular photography hashtags, but now I'll put the less popular and bore relevant ones. Thanks alot.
I am a Toronto based photographer who focuses on nature portrait and travel photography. I am wanting to start a new Instagram account, in 2020. How can I keep my account consistent with these three subjects?
This is super helpful, practical and to the point. Where I am confused is... I am a niche artist and do 2 bird characters based on my cockatiels. The genres I use ( noir, glitch and vaporwave) are not used for bird art so I don’t do well in either category 😆 Trying to figure out where the rest of my tribe are hiding and new ways to let them know I exist that arent spammy? Also is it worth creating your own specific hashtags from scratch? I am getting approx 50 followers a month from only posting 2x week using *the old fashioned way* (talking to people, leaving funny comments that compliment their birds if people get the humour they sent to become fiercely loyal interactive followers. I get very little engagement through hashtags though... it seems my work is too off the beaten track but hashtags like alternativeart are over saturated with random rubbish and top spots owned by the same few established people with huge followings
Dont you think reusing the same set of hashtags (also smaller ones) will ‚ban‘ you from reach? I have that, when i use the same set after some weeks, i get much less reach from hashtags :( Would be interested in your experience.
I've seen that happen as well I think. In this example I'm presuming a month apart but when I did it more frequently I have a similar issue to what you describe.
It happens to me soo many times that i use some hashtags and it increases my reach and then i use them again(on related Post) and it didn't work at all. Only few people reaches like 9 10 or 11. What's the reason? Can you explain?
This is a super great video. I am a Diviner and I post lots of spiritual and occult content. I'm getting serious about my IG and I love the DM tip and grouping by the number of hashtags. Thanks so much!
I actually agree on overything except when you said 'use as many hashtags' because instagram sees that as a spam and will shadow ban you for using so many hashtags
I would be interested to see evidence of this. I agree that repeating hashtags does this, but IG set the limit at 30 themselves. If they didn't want you to use them all they would simply reduce the limit.
Nice tips, txs for them. I have a question : you mentioned to check the hashtags in which you are top, but how can you do that more exactly? In my case , I use my Instagram account to promote the beauty of my country throw my vision as a photographer (beginner to medium experienced) and use hashtags but where can I see in those hastags that I am in upper part of the people who use it? To go top, first it needs to be popular with your followers and get engagement from them, then it needs to do the same with the followers of the hashtag usually then it will start to climb up. You can usually see it happening if you check the hashtags you used. Not all posts will do this though.
You can copy hashtag from a phone by copying the link pasting them in to your phone browser. ☝🏾🤝 And I am Sujay, a landscape photographer from canberra . Thanks for the useful video 🤝
Great video thanks Jonny! Quick Q, I can view the insights on an IG post and see engagement via #'s but cant open it up to see where I am ranking, any advice?

Hi Jonny, great advices! I love your content and how you help people. How much time do you usually spend to do your full hashtag search?
I usually spend about 1 hour, yes it's really time-consuming considering that you need to update your hashtag set at least every
I have hired someone to do it for me, every 3 days I get a fresh hashtag set to use
If your content is not great do not spend anytime searching hashtags
I gave up, I know that hashtags bring a lot of results but it's too time-consuming
I try to finish my search in under 90 minutes

Yeah, that one can be really helpful.

Thanks so much Aimee, thanks for watching!
I've been taking a lot of photos for about a year looking forward to using some hashtags and seeing the response!
Great tips. Also I’ve found a way around not being able to copy on mobile, is to ‘edit’ your photo caption and copy them from there.
Why have I never thought of this, you're a genius lol
Had hashtag page
