i found this kinda relatable, i was unemployed for a year living with my mother and i couldn't even get literally a warehouse job, i went in for interviews and was never called back that type of stuff.. then i tried sort of a assembly line job working with metal parts for basically minumum wage where i was treated like shit and the company was full of 🇺🇦 refugees that were happy to work in those kind of conditions..
now i'm working in a very small business that somewhat appreciates me, but still get paid barely enough to survive, pay rent etc, this life for us just has no future.. one of my coworkers works from 5 AM to midnight sometimes doesn't sleep at all just to feed his 2 kids and pay off his mortgage.
we made a mistake not being born 100 years ago and buying a house and car for dirt cheap i guess

It is the truth! i'm 41 so been working 20 years and the only reason i now own my own home is my parents put 5k deposit so i escaped the rent trap, and i got 60k inheritance, AND i moved 250 miles north to where the houses are about 60% as much as where i grew up. ALL my wages just went on paying bills. you younguns are fked basically. you got to think outside of the box to gain wealth, or hope the rich and government stop being greedy and give something back. Also i think it's all by design.

shop at Trader Joe’s or Aldi if you can, these big box companies (Kellogg, Pepsi, etc.) are slowly increasing prices and have monopolized nearly every part of the food industry. I have no idea what the end goal is for them, but they’re effectively squeezing consumers out of the market. Corporations aren’t sentient so empathy won’t set in, it’s only until the numbers aren’t in their favor that they’ll pivot imo. Only solution I can think of is just avoiding them entirely and be cognizant. Your body will probably thank you anyway.

This is the dilemma so many people in their 20-somethings face:
Stay with parents and live relatively easily. Not a bad deal if you’re all on good terms.
    *or*
Move out and work 55/60+ hours week to live in a shoebox of an apartment *that is a black hole for your money because you will never own it*, and have no time or energy… OR money to do much outside of working. For what? Just to say you’re independent, when you’re a paycheck or two from being underwater?
This is why the word “adulting” has come about in Millennials and Gen Z. We’re doing “adult” things like working full time but still can’t afford to move out.

Came across this channel after watching your haircut. I'm older than you - matter of fact, my son is a few years older than you and another son about to enter middle school, so I'm aware of the struggles they face.
You ain't wrong about today's economy and the outlook for the younger generation. I'm not giving you advice, but if I was to do it all over, I would definitely look into moving out of this country, especially if I was able to stack up some savings. If for no other reason - just to reset myself. I have roots in the west indies so that's where I would most likely go. If not, somewhere in Africa - Kenya or Ghana.

Ghost jobs (jobs that never existed) are such a problem in the market and I'm of the opinion it was created so that the government can say that the economy is doing well.
You also aren't wrong about HR but its a little more complicated than that. HR exists as buffer to lower the chances of a company getting sued that's why they have to stay up to date with a bunch of employment laws and OSHA regulations.
College degrees aren't just loosing their value but the cost of them have gotten so out of hand there needs to be regulation on how much a school should charge. It shouldn't have gotten so bad that we're now in a student debt crisis costing over a trillion something dollars.
I'm all for debt forgiveness but only for people who got 2-4 year degrees and only used federal loans (cause most of them have a fixed interest rate). Anything past undergrad or if you have private loans its your problem.
The housing market started falling apart around 08 when that crash happened. Over time it did begin to heal but then corporations around 2020 started buying up the houses and turn them into rentals. Now there's a group of people trying to fight with these landlords on the cost of housing and it all stems from a program they're using to calculate the rent.

304s getting degrees and working while having zero competency or talent is why employers are waking up to how worthless degrees have become in modern times

    • @sprinkle61
      @sprinkle61 5 місяців тому

College is a scam, a strait up scam, to get these undefaultable federal loans that no private lender would EVER make, and live off that sweet passive income as the student struggles. Regulation is a dumb idea, the answer is to just not go to college, its just not worth it. Not going will also reduce the price, as they will need to do something to bring students back. Debt forgiveness is also a scam. How can the government afford it, Uncle Sam has no money ! If the loans are just gifts, then the correct answer was to never loan the money in the first place. Easier money, higher price, full stop. Stop this madness, stop taking the predatory loans, don't let your kids do this. Who cares how some landlord calculates rent, just don't rent from them ! Live at home and save money, or rent an efficiency somewhere cheaper. There are other options besides being some corporation's passive income, look for them !

I disagree on the “fake” job numbers. The government spent trillions of dollars to fix the countries infrastructure and modernize the national grid. The spending, unfortunately, contributed to inflation, but it helped the economy rebound after Covid. The question was inflation vs recession. The government chose inflation… this time.

I live alone with my cat in a studio apartment. In Detroit. In a cooperative apartment building with insanely cheap rent. I'm still struggling. Granted I'm a janitor with ADHD and impulsive spending habits, but I've definitely been feeling the squeeze lately. We've arrived at the Gilded age all over again my friends. yaaaaayyyyyy 🙃🫠

I think your seeing thru the matrix
    Lots of us are
I’m turning 40 end of the month and I have lived in 3 different parts of the country in my adult life. I ain’t political or none of that.
Dude I can feel it in the air something is bout to pop. I feel like in our lifetimes we gonna see some real crazy shit. Like wwthree level. Man U right about these car payments too. That’s keeping middle class people poor for real. The insurance companies are gonna get us all off the road in the next 10 years. It’ll be like a band a month to insure a “old fashioned car”
