Certainly I would agree that the ending of the 8th is one of the finest musical compositions and I want to depart this world to this piece. The 8th has become my favourite Mahler Symphony. The ending, for those of us who experience it viscerally, takes us to another place, that transcends all emotion. It expresses the ineffable and reduces me to tears. Mahler's 10th has the same effect - in places the music is almost unbearably sublime - the scream in the first movement and that flute solo in the finale. Mahler has been with me since I was teenager, forty years ago and still he has the power to move me and retains his relevance. One day I will lay a wreath on his grave in memory and gratitude.

One of the greatest musical movements ever composed. Beyond transcendent, beyond beautiful, it reaches for the grace of heaven and delivers a ray of harmonic immortality. The only other pieces that compare (other than Mahler's own) are Scriabin's Mysterium and Schoenberg's Gurrelieder.
Mahler 8 (and 2 for that matter) in my view, should not be performed in a concert hall that doesn't have a substantial pipe organ with 32/64ft pedals. The tutti at 1:46 should make the concert hall vibrate! It's a shame because the performance otherwise sounds great. I can't hear the timps at 2:00 either. This weedy electric organ would have serious impacted on the drama of Veni Creator Spiritus First Movement too, I suspect. So many modern concert halls are built without real organs - my own city included, Nottingham Royal Concert Hall.
He started his timpani roll way too softly. In most recordings the timpani roll has a strong attack at the beginning of the roll. In this performance, it did not happen
It is growing trend in youtube,to use languages that are not English.Like or not,English is the only INTERNATIONAL language, used everywhere for the people to understand each other.I don't know who decided this new strategy, but it is strongly wrong.Continue with Russian,Japanese,German and I bet that in a few months youtube will disappear.Ve lo dice un italiano da Milano.Did you understand my Italian? No?They were only few words, very easy.👎👎👎

A day without Mahler is a day wasted.

Magnificent! Loved it

Gustav Mahler Was the Direktor from Operahouse von Vienna National Operahouse
Maravilloso!!!!!
Mahler wanted a bigger orchestra and choir, but they couldn't find a planet big enough.
2:01 where is timpani???
He started his timpani roll way too softly. In most recordings the timpani roll has a strong attack at the beginning of the roll. In this performance, it did not happen
I can hear the Bass drum and the Timpani.
Use head phones or big speakers.
