Talking about loving your cards. I was given a set of OPC cards for Roys rookie year for my birthday. I played with that set for years. Making mock teams, setting up lines, simming game in my head. By the time I realized there was a Roy rookie there the corners were completly round. But I loved those cards!!!
There's a tradeoff there for sure. Had you never touched them, yeah the Roy might be valuable but you wouldn't have had the enjoyment of the cards and the connection to the game you get through them. Now if our parents would have only bought us two sets of each, then we could have had the best of both worlds lol!
Ken Reid seems so down to earth. Troy should checkout the 1968 Frank Mahovlich #31 card for probably the first imposed head card. His head is on Dean Prentice’s (card #32) body. 1968 is OPC’s re-entry into card production and I believe they started the imposed head on another body concept with this set. Thanks for another entertaining pod, boyz!!
That Stature is coming back in a some way is big for me, a little worried it wont come back as its own product though. From what he said my guess is they skip Stature as its own product in 23-24, and either that 23-24 rookies will have stature cards in some other product and thats how it will be going forward, or that the 23-24 rookies will be updates in the 24-25 Stature release.
Love the ugly card segment. A suggestion for another spin off of this down the road for you Troy would be best flow/salads on cards. Some pretty awesome cards from the 70’s-90’s on those.
Interesting that you brought that up...I think we are doing a Championship Belt for our fantasy league this year...maybe we should consider for #5k Challenge too!
wish I knew you were talking to Tony! Could have asked hum why Houndstooth continues to be called "purple houndstooth" on the checklist despite being very not purple since 21-22!
If you want another ugly card in the ass category, check out the 20-21 UD Premier Signature Pursuit Auto Sidney Crosby, card SP-SC. I pulled one of these and couldn't unsee the goalie's ass. Traded it for a Jack Hughes RPA at Fanatics Fest.
holy poo! ken reid. guy is awesome on SN where i come from...my buddy from sask. still laughs recalling reid's shoutout to the "greasy armstrong on the llyodminister" club and the comment about the chickenwire. 🤪
Awesome show as always. Love the platinum pond hockey cards this year. If I had money that’s the one big bedard card I would get for myself
They are pretty awesome. It'll be interesting to see what they go for. Thanks again for the kind words!

I tend to agree with your guesses but do think it will be back to it's regular release schedule...hopefully by 2024-25.
Love the ugly card segment.

Very true, that would be funny...will make sure Troy sees this!
Been waiting for this one!!
Suggestion for the $5k challenge....the wax box is awesome, but how about adding a small trophy 🏆 or champion belt? 😂
