Ma'am didn't understand how TRUSTING SORROW is a metaphor. Can you please make it clear?
The rural people trusted the city folks but were betrayed which brought them sorrow. So, their trust is compared to the sorrow given to them in return.rural people trusted but city people gave them sorrow. So two emotions come from two parties. village folks : city folks :: trust : sorrow

In antithesis opposites are used like come, go; dawn, dusk.
In oxymoron, two words are used, one being an adjective and the other, a noun. The adjective used with the noun is opposite to the general perception for the noun. For example quiet rage, beneficent beats of prey
