No one is winning, it's a war, there's casualties on both sides, citizens on both sides are caught in the crossfire, the rest of the world is paying a step price for goods and services to keep the war going and there are no peace talks, no such discussion on de-escalation.
And both sides still have nukes at their disposal, I'd rather not see things escalate to nuclear warfare.

There were US armed forces training Ukrainian soldiers prior to the conflict, now they’re training in Britain
also the UK and other nations Inc US have even training Ukrainians in Ukraine for years, the last UK soldiers came back just before the invasion. Training matters. The Russians are screwed it's not the 1940s.

I think he thought Ukraine would roll over like in Crimea and Donbas, but they didn’t and have been doing a lot of training since 2014. Also I think US intelligence and satellites now being a part is seriously significant,even more so than the weapons.

Putin knows that his base is within the security service of Russia and not the military. He knows his only threats inside the country could come from the military. This the reason we see so many generals being replaced and why conscripts are still relied on. If you keep the military weak you don't have to worry about a.coup attempt

@@MongoIsFree clueless. “Turning Kiev into glass” is the only single escalation Russia has left at this point (and an incredibly unlikely one at that as it would guarantee themselves as at least a terrorist state as isolated as North Korea, if not be the end of Russia as a state) so yes, I’d say this was pretty close to their full strength.
A “partial military mobilisation” as Putin put it has only ever been done in the USSR/Russian Empire/Russian Federation 3 times previously, against the Japanese in 1904, for WW1, and for WW2 when Stalin also lied and called it a partial military mobilisation. The only single war Russia won out of them was when they were supplied by the West and had the US, France, Britain, and their empires fighting the same enemy on another front.
How on Earth could you possibly believe Ukraine, with continued western backing like it has, “doesn’t stand a chance in the long run”? Have you kept up with any of the news since February? Russia can’t even build cruise missiles anymore as they use western sanctioned components. Russia has lost more ground in the last month of counteroffensives than it had gained in the previous 4 months. Russian conscripts are using tampons as bandages and have no tourniquets. They have to buy their own food and clothing. The main buyers for Russias largest industry have stopped buying from them with no easy way for Russia to pivot to a new market as the pipelines don’t exist. Their currency is being artificially inflated and their own analysts say that the best case timeline for their economy returning to prewar levels would be in the late 2020s. Hundreds of thousands of their citizens have fled the mobilisation.
But aside from all of those facts, how are you so stupid that you think a Ukrainian surrender wouldn’t result in a higher loss in human life in the long run? Pick up a history book or use Google, you’ll see how life is for ethnic minorities in the Russia Federation. You only have to look now at who’s serving on the front line for Russia to know it’s not ethnic Russians that are being forced to fight, it’s the minorities from the poorer regions, which is the same treatment the Ukrainians in the annexed regions can (and are currently experiencing) expect unless they’re liberated. Plus, if Russia is allowed to invade, rape, murder, and annex its neighbours do you genuinely believe it’ll stop at Ukraine and won’t involve more war for non NATO aligned states? Educate yourself before throwing about your worthless uniformed opinion like it’s merited.

There is a channel called Perun that goes over the Russian conflict from a defense economics perspective. Questions regarding Russian corruption, the consequences of Putin labeling the conflict a "special military operation" (he can't draft conscripts), etc. Fascinating stuff.
Corruption is a major factor in what has gone wrong for Russia in this war. Of course, it doesn't help that they are totally crap at strategy and tactics 😂

It also ignores the fact that the question could have more than one answer, someone could claim not to be concerned because they don't support Ukraine, or aren't concerned because they believe the Ukrainian military are beating the Russians. The same polling also shows whilst republicans are more likely to say they're sending too much support than too little, more still believe they are sending an adequate amount or not enough. More recent polling by reuters shows support for Ukraine in the US is still bipartisan, although there is heavier support from Democrats. 73% of Americans according to the Reuters/Ipsos polling believe the US should continue to support Ukraine, and only 35% believe that Ukraine is not the US's business, a figure that's actually down from August's 40%. The polling agrees with the guys in that 68% said they'd be more likely to support a candidate who supports continued military aid to Ukraine.

I wouldn't think so, and so I don't think mass conscription was even an option at the beginning for the Putin regime. The only way he would have been able to possibly do this politically would be the situation he is in now, with many dead Russians, so he can say "if it were just the Ukrainians, we would have been fine, but this war is obviously against wokeism and the Western Left, let's show America they can't keep our land from us" which then creates the underdog story that would make conscription politically viable.

Ukraine literally has over 500 towns, villages, and cities with no power as of today. It was shown that Russia is able to hit where they want when they want. it depends on what source you're getting really. you can be right, you can be wrong, but we won't know until the end of the war. For example, "it was shown that Russia is able to hit where they want when they want." then why it stop now? because there no more targets? maybe they ran out of supplies and waiting for Iran and North Korea to restock their supplies? Highly doubt it because Russian military tech n hardware are better than Iran and N. Korea in most aspect. There are still thousands of viable and strategic targets in Ukraine. So why haven't Russia targeted military generals/camps and ammo sites? If not Russian capabilities then its the supply, if not supply then Russian capabilities must be really trash. Russian ability was overestimated, but Ukraine was really underestimated including the western support. Aiden is sort of right but totally wrong. Russia has made more oil sales, but at cheaper cost thats why they are in agreement with OPEC to control oil prices so Russia can keep their oil sales high instead of losing the Russian oil value on the global market. Russia has a smaller GDP than individual states in the US. “Selling a lot of oil this year” ain’t gonna cut it for a war of this scale. They were a poor country in decline before this war and will be even worse off after it.

They have been re-purposing S-300 missiles, anti-aircraft munitions introduced roughly 40 years ago and Kh-32 missiles, originally designed to sink aircraft carriers to strike ground targets. Especially the S-300 air defense system rockets don’t really have the ‘oomph’ to hit hardened military targets and they don’t have the accuracy in a land attack role to even strike the building they want to hit.
Besides even pundits on Russian State TV, have openly admitted that they lack proper reconnaissance of Ukrainian troop movements to effectively deploy countermeasures, they lack 24/7 satellite images of Ukraine among other things.
As for 'holding' back to save the infrastructure I find hard to believe as they completely flattened Mariupol and Russia is an artillery based army. They held absolutely nothing back.
