This song is the personification of my life. I first heard it when I was working at Gadzooks. This song was my prayer. I’ll always believe in God or a higher power than myself because of this song. I lost my son, and I felt that void, that pain, that sorrow. I felt God hated me. I also grew up with an abusive stepfather. Thank you, Dana. Thank you for letting people know this song isn’t just about rain. It’s what life can reign upon you.
I have Listen to Dana Glover over and over and she is the only singer I judge all other singers against, she is an epic singer song writer. Love you Dana, thanks for the great music.

I've been looking for this song forever. I love the emotion of this song, the pain of being lonely.
One of the stations that I listen to played this today, and it was the first time I've heard it in over 15 years. I had forgot what a damn good song this is, and pulled over on the side of the highway to write Dana Glover's name down so that I could remember it when I searched on here tonight. Brilliant song.

I remember working for Best Buy when this came out.... and trying to push it off on every single customer that came through the doors and into our media dept. I loved the CD then, I love it still.

Here's what Dana has said about writing this song: "I was traveling cross-country, with my oldest brother sitting beside me and my youngest brother up front driving. I was in the desert and there was rain in the distance and my mind began to go. That happened to be one of the hardest times of my life, so my mind was in a crazy space anyway. And I wrote the whole song right then. I’ve never had 'one tennis shoe on the ledge and one in mid-air,' but I believe if you’ve gone through some difficult things and you’re a sensitive person, you can put yourself in those places easily. At that time, I could have put myself anywhere. I really wanted people to understand that the character in the song is abandoned, uncertain of her life, questioning."
