Hastily tries to remember all of this information for the next time I see my family. -_-
I'm showing this video to my mom and dad so they will stop telling me I'm going to die
Nicolette Swann I feel you... I hear the same things from all my relatives
I'm dreading the day where I go to the next family party (who of which are ALL FILIPINO WHO WILL BE INSULTED IF YOU DO NOT EAT) and I am not looking forward to tell them I am Vegan...-ish. And I say "ish" because I am in the military and our combat boots are made of leather and I of course joined the military before I went vegan...
You are lucky to have smart parents!
marian roberto good thing there’s fats in plant foods.
It is not the protein you are missing but much more.
It's incredibly annoying when people say they tried "_the_ vegan diet" for two weeks, then had a burger or piece of poultry at the end and decide that veganism is just "not for everyone", "incompatible with their body" and go on about how necessary animal protein is.
What do you even say to that? You say they're full of shit, they complain about vegans being mean, you say nothing and they keep on thinking such nonsense, you try to gently correct them and they get ultra defensive while digging their heels in deeper.
Also, I like how even though you revisit a lot of the same topics you still manage to find a way to incorporate new infirmation and try to approach the subject from different angles. Keep it up!
Mad?
did they ever take a b12
Chronometer is a game changer.
Mary N yes. I love chronometer
It is, it gives me a lot more confidence I'm eating enough of the things I need to eat
Mary N be wary of the accuracy of some of the more specific products in their database. For instance, it notes absolutely 0 omega 3s and 0 omega 6s inside the ground chia seeds I entered (Badia brand)
Nick Anderson Do you have a more accurate app you use? There are several similar to chronometer.
cronometer is great, but always be sure to check the foods you put in to make sure they're accurate, most of them are accurate though. Also it's cronometer not chronometer.
I just made some great vegan cookie dough and it's 1am and i'm eating it out of a bowl. This is my life right now.
theliveinkitchen.com/2014/03/03/vegan-cookie-dough-one/ I stole their recipe and made it more like my family recipe, it's good, and no salmonella
Emma SpAce thank you so much my little sister (an omnivore) loves cookie dough awesome to find a vegan version
Emma SpAce oh my god I got a great idea freeze this into little balls and mix into nice cream vegan cookie dough nice cream yay 😊 thanks again
no problem, I just had late night cravings
Emma SpAce dude I did the exact same thing last night the cookie dough was so good it made me sick
Another awesome video, mic you are one of the reason for my whole family becoming vegan couple of months back, keep up the terrific work
fucking awesome
Yeah that really is awesome, that's the whole point of all of us who make vegan youtube channels. Whether is about recipes (like us), lifestyle or like Mic scientific research and explaning the main concerns. In the end, the goal for all us is to get more people to go vegan!😁
Wait, you mean Mic is not making these videos to fuel my man-crush on him?
I wish my parents would understand English so i could show them some of these videos because they ignore everything what i say.
I was the same, then found Dr Greger's 'How not to die' translated into Swedish. Bought it, read and then lend it to my parents saying that they can choose to do whatever they like, but just do me the favour and read these few chapters... after two chapters that I picked for my mom of 69 who's been eating meat 5-7 days a week her entire life said: "I'm going to be a vegetarian!". Kid you not :)
If it isn't available in your language, perhaps there is another very good book out there. This one has been by far the best one I've read though when it comes to convincing people that an unrefined vegan diet is vastly superior in every way. Even I who already knew that learned a lot of from it. Based on study, upon study, upon study - so no one can say it's biased.
Good lucky Valeri!
Two last fun facts. One, Meat products are higher in the Amino Acid Methionine. While it is an essential Amino Acid, your body can only handle so much at one time, so it breaks it down. This break down leads to higher levels of Homocysteine which damages your arteries. Thus being a risk factor for heart disease. Two, Methionine also aids in the growth of cancers. Cancer cells have a high Methionine requirement. Would you like to feed cancer cells or starve them?

Can you give an update to your overall health? Are you still alive?
My non-vegan cousin lives with a vegan, but because the vegan he lives with is short and skinny, he thinks he can't become buff on a vegan lifestyle. And the vegan he lives with don't even think he gets all the amino acids from his own vegan lifestyle either. They need this video. I just wished it had Norwegian subs so they could understand it more, as I'm afraid their English isn't quite advanced enough for all of this. But thanks Mic, I'll try to translate the best I can for them.
Cant think of any Norwegian Vegans. Karl Ess and Patrik Boubomian from Germany. If you know any of that language. Tons of English Language Jon Venus, Vegan Gains, Nimai Delgado, Hench Herbivore, Vegan Physique, Clarence0, The Glucose Network, Mind n Muscle, Thomas Tadlock, Ryan Nelson, Barney Duplessis Subscribe him to these people, sit back and wait for the doubts to disappear :) He doesn't need to understand what they are saying per say. Think he just needs to see big dudes eating plants by the sounds of it. :)
@Vegan Ricks Thank you for this list. He knows english, it's just that all the scientific speak in Mic's videos would confuse him a bit and turn him off. But yes, seeing vegan men achieving the goals he wants would probably help him a lot.
you should write a book
Try the book "how not to die" from dr Greger at nutritionfacts. I think you'll like it.
Are you planning on making more recipe videos? It would be awesome if you could do some "what I eat in a day" videos too.
Natalie I'd like to see that
If you are interested in vegan recipes we have some delicious ones😁
Wing Wu Wang but as a vegan you shouldn't lust for meat 😊
why? and there is no "try", you either "do" or "don't"
I agree with Natalie.
Mic you are so intelligent, humorous and nice to look at. My husband and I are 8 months into our vegan journey and even gotten rid of anything made from an animal. (shoes, belts, purses, chair...etc) Your videos have helped up tremendously in our journey and armed us with knowledge to combat the nay sayers. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Much love and light😀
Someone recently tried to explain to me that people need heme iron. Otherwise, you will be anemic. Unclear why he was so certain in his assertion when there are so many healthy vegans (including vegan athletes). He explained that the anemia would show up on "deeper tests" without any evidence that these "deeper tests" exist (they don't) or why he would assert such a thing.
Someone also tried to explain that animal proteins and vegetable proteins are processed by the body differently, and that plant proteins lack many essential amino acids that you get from animal proteins. He asserted confidently that I was slowly killing myself by not eating animal based proteins, and that he knew that because of Science.
They are so confident of nonsensical things.
NoExitLoveNow I know a nurse practitioner and she argued the same thing with me....a fkn NURSE PRACTITIONER!
I know a nurse who warned me about getting diabetes because I was eating a lot of carbs.
That same nurse also told me that beans had b12 in them
It's funny, I donate blood every now and then and ever since going vego, my haemoglobin levels are actually higher. cholesterol and blood pressure are the best they've been in years too :)
I just show my docs and nurses this www.nursingdegree.net/blog/19/57-health-benefits-of-going-vegan/ and this www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3662288/ and then they keep quiet 😏
This video is awesome; my husband is in that spot you talked about in the beginning, but he's been feeling really good "eating vegan" with me...this will definitely help. Thank you for doing what you do!
I will never stop saying it. You're one of the best WFPB youtubers out there. So genuine and simple to follow. Could you make a video about eating animal products once in a while? I know Dr. Greger has some information about it on his website and mentions it in his talks but I haven't found an appropriate video to share with my family, they mainly eat WFPB but still eat animal products in small quantities, I know it stiffens their arteries everytime and it increases the risk of diseases, but should I worry?
Patryk Karter yes worry about the animals getting stabbed in the neck.
Conscious Conscience I'm with you on this 100% , but this is a philosophical point of view. I, like you, see the wrong in killing an animal for pleasure food.
But take my brother for example. He's older than me, I always looked up to him, he's a very wise person and is improving everyday. I've been WFPB vegan for only 4 months and he still sees it as a moment in my life where I'm just trying something extreme. I know I'll stay this way to the end of my life but I can't exclude what he is saying because I've felt this way about other things in the past and have been wrong some times. He i knows about the environmental impacts as well, but since he consumes meat once or twice a week he feels he's doing his fair share and at the same times consumes a "balanced" diet.
Patryk Karter have you watched earthlings?
Jude Mihalich Nope, I became a WFPB vegan before getting to that film. I've watched Food Inc. , Cowspiracy, Forks over Knives and read all the books by the WFPB doctors like Michael Greger, T ColinCampbell, John McDougall, Garth Davis, Neal Barnard.
Patryk Karter if you watch that film you'll never want to eat meat again.
Some people binge on netflix, I binge on Mic
Great video man. I love your positive style. I'm thinking about showing a couple of your videos to family. Thank again Mic
Thank you for the awesomeness bro! keep jamming and sharing knowledge.
I'm currently trying to go vegan and it's taking a little more convincing my Boo, this being his mane argument. I played this full blast on the sofa and he actually stopped and listened!!!
go look up Patrik Baboumian and show him he does get enough and does extrem sports
Being so informative AND full of references is sooo refreshing to see. Thank you!
This is one of the most informative and concise channels I've seen about food - absolutely class use of evidence. You have answered so many of my questions.
Great video! I'll keeping sharing them with my skeptical family. Thank you.
Awesome video. Thanks for all the thoughtfulness and work you put into these. You are making a difference!
I loved the skit and the voices!
Thanks for this video!
Great info! Thanks for sharing.
The reason I think you should add bloopers at the end is because it helps people to laugh and what not and really enjoy just who you are I think from what I’ve seen on all your videos but it would help to watch to the end as well that’s my best advice, have a great day
Thanks so much for always posting information so simple yet amazing! I love being a vegan and learning as much as I can. You make the best educational videos on VEGANISM!!
Between Mic the vegan and BiteSizeVegan, I feel they tie in producing the best educational videos on VEGANISM!!
One of my favorite videos in your catalog. When people ask me the whole “protein as a Vegan” question I usually just send them this link because I’m tired of repeating everything you said... 😉
Fantastic vid Mic!
As always awesome informative and amusing , i'm vigan nearly 65 years old all round athlete never have a problem killing it at circuit training bodybuilding , Keep it rolling buddy .
Love your videos! I just came across you :) So glad you provide research and facts on being vegan. Simple and to the point. Love it!
There's only TWO channels I trust when it comes to health (and I've seen HUNDREDS): Yours and Dr. Michael Greger's Nutrition Facts!
Great video :D ... It all comes down to doing your own research ... I've been into fitness for three years and I do confess I had my doubts before my transition last summer but after getting educated it all made sense :)
You are the frikin' boss!!! I've been following you for a long time, but never saw this video! I'm going to translate it to Spanish and share like crazy!
i really enjoy watching your videos ! thank you mic :)
Your channel is amazing. Keep it up homie!
Such a great, concise explanation. I love the humour in your videos too :)
THANK YOU, been needing a video to share to those people who keep saying where do you get protein -facepalm-.
mic, as always bringing that solid content. cheers.
Dude you are killing it! Incredibly informative. ✊
I seriously love your videos....straight to the point with some added humor
Great video. This is totally off topic but please tell us how to make those leave curtains. I think theyre soooo freaking cool
Omg. Magical energy from the burger. Lol. I'm so lad you explained that!
Great content as always Mic!;🌱☀️💪
Congratulations on 100k subs Mr. Mic.
Thank you so much for these videos!
Brilliant video Mike!
Thank you for your videos!
Thanks Mic. Your work is superb
You deserve a LOT more views and subs. Nice job!
Great video!
You're amazing! Keep up the good work!!
Killin it Mic!
Thank you for all this wonderful information
Informative video! So much misinformation about protein. Loved this.
Excellent Video!
Excellent work brother
Great video! This used to be a main concern of mine. Now I have to explain that my diet is perfectly fine to my friends and family. The information you provided about inflammation being linked to animal products is interesting. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and in the two months since going vegan, the pain and stiffness in my body has dramatically decreased. I was wondering if there was a link. Thanks for the info!
Thanks so much for thoroughly researching this specific topic & posting this video, Mike.
It couldn't have come at a better time as one of my video suggestions, since im currently trying to convince my vegetarian friend that he's feeling 'weaker' due to eating less calorically dense foods, & NOT because he's lacking animal protein as he claims.
excellent video!
Your videos are fantastic! Can you do one on the potato diet?
Loved the Boston accent : ) Good info for when someone asks!
Hey Mike, I was wondering if I could show your videos on my twitch streaming channel? I stream playing video games but as a vegan I take every opportunity to educate people about veganism and your videos are simply fucking hilarious and super educational. Keep doing damn great activism for the animals!
Sincerely,
Katherine
Hi from the D.R. 🇩🇴 great video bro lots of important information for me since after having had become a vegan I’m still doing research to be more knowledgeable and take the most advantage of a healthy vegan diet without putting my self at risk of missing any vital nutrient that my body may need , it was also great to see and know that there’s scientific proof that if done properly you can obtain all the protein needed with all the essential amino acids with a plant based diet . Thumbs up 👍🏻 bro I’m subscribed now to your channel keep it up ...
hahaaaa! this was a great delivery! loved it!
Thanks Mic, you rock man!
I love this channel it's always very well explained
Hey Mic I just want to thank you for this video. I recently had some blood work done and my albumin came back low. Thank you for explaining why this is to me (my doc was useless) I feel like this has finally motivated me to completely shift to eating a vegan diet. I recently had some blood work done and my albumin came back low. Thank you for explaining why this is to me (my doc was useless) I feel more motivated to continue shifting to eating a vegan than ever.
I so love your humour, you crack me up!!!
thank you so much! i was so worried i would get sick or lose hair or something i can get up to 80% on chronometer of protien and i was stressing out about it... i can get more i just craved other things xD haha. thank you mic
GREAT VIDEO THANK YOU !!!!!!
great video 📹
Terrific video!
Hell yeah Mic!!! Vegan Information guru Rockstar. Thanks again
Loved 8:27 that was the highlight of the video and my day:D
Hanna Banana Lmfao! I loved that part!
OMG, this!!!
LOL the construction bit was great
You’re awesome 👏 am a new Vegan and a Research and pre Med Student as a second degree. You’re on point and thanks for always keeping the public informed.
Hello mic. Fantastic video as always. I love how you show evidence for your claims rather than saying random information and preaching it like it's true like how some other vegan UA-camrs do. You have really helped me. I've been vegan for a couple of months now, and I was previously vegetarian for 6 months. Your videos are always my go to for vegan knowledge and I really appreciate that you care to share the knowledge with the rest of us. THANK you! And one more thing. Can you consider making a video in the future for people who are allergic to fruit and vegetables. One of my friends, who is also lactose intolerant, says she has to eat meat because when she eats raw fruits and veggies it has the same effects of her drinking milk. The only way she can eat f&vs is if she "drowns them in salt" even if she is cooking with them.
I freaking love how your videos are filed with studies and facts! That is just a kick in society's ass!!
I just love to watch you in the morning while drinking my coffee with rise or coconut milk ❤️❤️
I should post every week I am vegan... Nope not dead yet.
Lindsy Dee
❤️
6 months for me too
1 year vegan on March 6th :) Not dead or deficient in anything!
Vasikins
I have tried before but had pressure from my family. This will be a second start. It will be 4th week tomorrow. I am going to try again. It is encouraging to hear that it can be done! Thank you and congrats!
You are so very welcome :* Best of luck to you! I live with parents who grew up in eastern Europe where animal product consumption is extremely heavy. They still pick on me to this day. They keep telling me "This isn't China, your way of eating is disgusting and restrictive, you're going to die from health problems, blah blah blah." I understand what it's like. I can't wait to eventually move out. (:
You're videos are SO INFORMATIVE. And I am very thankful to have found them to aid in my transition to veganism
This is exactly why I stalled becoming vegan. It really took me some time before I got enough confidence in the diet. Thx for the info's Mic.
I go back to your videos, just to raise my spirit, your so funny sir
6:45 I DIED
hahaha, another great video mic!
Love you x
Great that you shared your own hesitations and ignorance regarding a vegan diet. I think it's very helpful to people looking to get on board. Did you go straight to wfpb or did you have a "junk food" vegan period?
Love it !
Mike, you're awesome!
Can you make a vid about pros & cons of a pescetarian diet?
I needed this. Trying to get husband dibetic 2 to be vegan saw Dr. first. And got no support there. Thanks Mic.
neat leaf background returns
Thank you...!
I'm definitely not eating enough then. I'm guessing it's cause It's just not the norm for me yet , but I just don't feel like eating as much when I eat totally plant based. I feel like I starve myself unintentionally. But great info, this helps thank you!!!
Hey Mic can you do a video explaining your troubles transitioning to a plant based diet? I can definitely relate and I feel like many more people can. Giving up dairy seems to be the hardest because its in sooo much food like even most tomato soups.
Agree, dairy is in SO MUCH packaged foods! The key is to eat more whole foods. I've been trying to make more salads and Buddha bowls but it's hard for me to maintain because I gravitate towards opening a package.
I know someone who does meal planning and batch cooking which seems like a good idea but I just put it off every weekend. I've also been considering a meal delivery service but I'm scared to commit.
Reading my comment, it's easy to make excuses. 😆
Protein is not even the question. I shoot up above daily requirements. Calcium is something I have to think about and put some extra effort to reach the daily goals.
Abhishek Verma collard greens, beet greens, moringa, (sprouted) chia
Abhishek Verma
Almond milk for calcium
brokkoli
Not good source,not abssorbable
Mic the VEGAN I hope you read my comment. If you are able to make a video on how proteins is only made by plants.. I been debating that with few people and I often use Milton Mills videos however, I want a study like you always provide if you can. Thank you
great value
another great video! I'm sharing this with my personal trainer at the gym who asked me last week "where do you get your protein? Aren't you worried about getting enough?"
Do you use any specific search engine to find these studies?
Whenever I Google I can't seem to find any studies in my language.
Great vid btw
The valley girl voice! Haha love your videos, thank you for sharing your research it has helped me soooo much.
You're great. keep up the good work. Do you have a Nutrition Degree btw. You seem to know so much!
