Besides rattling I see way more deer on a cloudy day... If its 60 and sunny thats a very warm day but if its 60 and cloudy it feels way cooler so if your a 200 lb buck in your winter coat it really makes a difference. I'll see doe and young bucks but rarely see a big buck on a sunny day unless its 20 degrees .

Third time going don't think this year is as cold as the last two years

I was out yesterday afternoon I had 2 deer come up the left side of me I could have taken one of them but I ended up passing them up one was a spike horn and the other looked like a doe when I went to come back to the house I saw a car going down the road with its head lights on so I thought to myself maybe it was a good idea that I didn't take a shot I was 2 seconds away from doing that I missed the first two weeks of rifle season here in Maine because I was sick.

I have noticed when the birds and the squirrels are moving around me. I have more success. I believe the birds are a distraction that keep the deer from busting me.
