I like the detial of how the old couple can openly talk about their sons death and have fond memories despite him dying. Showcasing the ability to move on.
It's easy, because the "Real world" hurts. plus, what exactly is "Real" anyway? life is what we make of it. if someone finds happiness in Collecting, Video games, Movies, whatever.. then why shit on that? its better than putting all your happiness into someone else. they'll just cheat on you once they know you can't live without them. or break up with you. or you'll find out about something they've done and break up with them. if you put all your time and effort into a Job, that job will crumble one way or another.. or you'll become sick of it. nothing is forever, everything sucks, we're all dust in the wind. make the best of the time you've got. or don't. we're all gonna die and be forgotten regardless.

It’s funny how meatcanyon helps Melvin cope with his mental health but in scary ways by solving and confronting his problems when he doesn’t want to forcing himself to be better even if her thinks he’s awful helping him get closure depression with his dad by bowling ,his hermit crab by accepting he’s still has memories and his friend from when he drowned
God u can't go anywhere without hearing ppl constantly blabber about mental health. I always find it weird that when the left gets OBSESSED with something they ruin it. Mental health is the new one. And now everyone is mentally ill, more than ever before and big pharma gets rich. It's gone up by nearly A THOUSAND PERCENT in 4 years. None in third world countries tho. Or what about racism. Now there's more racism than the 40s. The black community, their neighborhoods were burned down. The border, now it's broken. LGBTQ, now it's blown up and kids r drug in. Women's rights, now they r forced to have men in their spaces even prison cells. Locked up with male sex offenders that force themselves on them. Ukraine, 150 THOUSAND gone. I mean it goes on and on. Kids in cages? Fast forward 3 years, and u have HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of kids trafficked and locked up. Blows my mind. Don't even get me started on policies...
Such a beautiful ending. Melvin knows that he can never recapture the feeling of his crab, but he can keep his shell as a happy memory of the times they had together. 😢
I like how it ended with Melvin keeping the fish tank in Saving the fish that was dying from the beginning to now living happy with other fish friends and he kept the shell of the crab as a centerpiece of the bottom of his fish tank🥹
Well, the last comment by Melvin was quite an insulting summary of what MC thinks of them. Btw the feeling of escapism can happen also with other addictions in general.
Melvin is not criticising collecting items that remind you of good times. It's criticising BURYING yourself in nostalgia, to DISTRACT yourself from your current infirmities. That's what he means by becoming stagnant. The fact you couldn't see that is telling.
@@phaolo6 Literally no. He was talking about the 4 specific people in the room who were willing to kill themselves to escape every problem and pain. There were no attacks at genuine collectors. That's just you seeing a character talk about the current scene and then just making up your own stuff
The way Melvin’s death associated trauma is portrayed is horrifying and yet so undermined by the people around him is so disturbingly accurate. How is meatcanyon perfect at portraying illness
In the last episode, Robbie’s head was in the shape of a bowling pin. In this one, Jeremiah’s head is shaped like an N64 controller. Love these little details
@ronaldmurphy2419 bruh you dumb or trolling? If you got a problem with the meaning of the line, just say so, but saying that it sucks because switching a word makes it sound worse is wild. By that logic no poet, lyricist, or writer can ever write anything good.
dude, this is incredibly well written, like, it feels like an actual Adult swim show, it is funny, but its not just grotesque or funny shit for the sake of being grotesque and funny, its full of feelings and real topics in a comedic and gruesome way, i fucking love it
Everything I agree with except saying AS is at this level..I see similarities with Aqua Hunger Teen Force a tiny bit. But this is definitely more sophisticated in its writing context
The worst part is that probably many of the people seeing this are in that same spot and doesn't realize because they don't hit rock bottom like those characters
These Melvin animations keep getting better and better. Turning geek and consumer culture into a haunting experience was super interesting. It’s haunting since I myself am a collector. RIP Captain Claws
Hey meat canyon, i dont know if youre ever gonna read this comment but thanks for making this animation along with your team. It really gave me perspective about holding on to joyful things I lost and the idea of letting go feeling more of an appreciation rather than a desperate attempt to never feel hurt again. I find it so invigorating how you perfectly visualise the concept of memories having power to trap you or push you forward in life. Whenever the scenary changes grey for Melvin, it signifies memories. You can be haunted by it, use coping mechanisms to shut the pain out and be obsessed with shutting pain out. Or, you can simply appeciate that theres still good memories in those darkest moments that makes you stronger to face reality in the present. Its not an easy thing to do if someone in the present is stuck with little to no control over negative events in their life. But to escape is to rejuvenate so you can come back to face reality stronger, however, if youre not careful, it can trap you forever. Beautifully done, meat canyon. Beautifully done.
Its a delusion to whitewash your childhood memories for only the escape of insular, fleeting pleasures. Chasing such a fantasy isn't even a beautiful one removed from all the grey & freakishness that gives substance to life. Even Melvin's mom was convulsing when she handed him his pancakes. What was going on before she got there? Never let your personality become product.
I have always said, there is nothing wrong with a little nostalgia but those who would rather cling to the past do so because they do not see a future. You don't have to forget or let go, but you can't cling to it. It's just another part of you and you move on.
If you listen to the crab squealing, you can hear the crab saying "Meeel-Viiiiin" like he's trying to tell Melvin to move on and put him to rest. Really good story telling.
This episode couldnt have come at a better time. In 2022, my mother passed, and although we didnt have a great past together, its been hard for me. After she passed, I relied on the nostalgia of not understanding what happened and why she never tried to be with us to make myself feel better. I bought hundreds of dollars in game consoles and video games, toys that do nothing but take up space, and junk I refuse to throw away. These past years have been difficult and I find it hard to face these issues and finally move on. This upcoming year, 2025, I plan on getting rid of these things and finally letting go. This episode has helped me realize that what Im doing now will not help me, and it hasnt for almost 3 long years. Thanks Melvin.
Can I be real for sec, this is like the best episode ever. To show the effect of nostalgic escapism and comfort through these characters is awesome storytelling. Good job PapaMeat.
Dealing with your problems is good lol putting a bandage on them like Melvin was trying to do is how you end up with a pile of unresolved issues and depression/anxiety to the point that you think you are no longer a functioning member of society 🫥
@@Scotty2hotty-69 The only reason you want to deal with your problems or be a functioning member of society is because you think that will make you happy. How is that any better? A japanese documentary basically sums up this kind of people, forgot the name but it was about internet addiction. Some of them are even well adjusted and made good life choices until something happens in their life that made them dependent on a coping mechanism. Shows like hoarders are a good example of this.
@@frogglen6350 Some parents don't let their children grow, they give them whatever they like. The ending was so wholesome;it made my heart warm. I’m happy that Melvin released that being present in the moment matters most regardless of how painful it can be mentally
I love Melvin’s character. Through all the things he’s been put through in his whole existence he manages to never allow others to corrupt him into something he’s not.
Nostalgia eventually betrays you. You can only spend so long on killing the noise in your head instead of sitting with the feelings and thoughts. Before you realize, the things you used to enjoy don't feel as good anymore. The noise comes back because while you were hiding from it, it only grew worse. You look at yourself in the mirror with disgust but can't stop neglecting your mental health because you've always been like this, and it is easier to be miserable than it is to make a change.
Thinking that you're pathetic not by your own voalition frees you of having to change, or at the very least the feeling of being resppnsible for the lack of change.
I want a season of this show in this style, where Melvin has to fight a new villain or dilemma in a courage the cowardly dog way. This is soooo good. Belongs on adult swim
Be careful, normally when a show gets official approval and backing the original essence tends to be watered down to please boards and be profitable. Unsure if AS is much different
@@gabrielpineirogarcia2078I’m sure they are, some of their shows are hot garbage but only because it stays truthful to itself and not just appeasing masses
I have friends like these guys. Great guys but this cartoon does make a point. The nostalgia and collection just clutters your room, makes you stall what you should be doing for a productive life or coping with grief. For me personally i see a good metaphor for substance abuse in this as well. One of your best works Papa Meat. Im looking forward to seeing more Melvin in the future.
Was not expecting such a real ending. This was a better ending than most TV shows or movies I've seen lately. Grieving and saying goodbye is a part of life, we have to accept that and move on. We can't stay trapped in the past. This was actually beautiful, thanks for this.
Loving the development of MeatCanyon’s artform. He started with literal representations of monsters, then moved into incorporating their metaphorical value in representing the flaws of their victims, and now this series, with its whole-ly original characters, utilizing his monsters as completely metaphorical realizations. When he got tired of using others’ characters, he found a way to continue creating freshly entertaining monstrosities.
There was a point in my life where I really wanted to become someone who devoted their entire life towards buying videogame consoles for the nostalgia and I never really realized how horrible that lifestyle was until watching this video. Having memories of your childhood is great, it’s a way to let you and others know you had a great life. But devoting your entire life towards getting mundane things from your childhood all for the nostalgia which can move into more than a hobby can really ruin someone’s life. I know some people who are like this and I am genuinely glad I didn’t go down this horrible route. Thanks for this video.
Literally been seeing this for 4 years in the descriptions. Obviously he loves making shorts for UA-cam so everybody can enjoy watching his work without having to pay…think about that. Reaches a wide assortment of people being free and also on Snapchat bud.
@@DelphinidaeZeta It would help if those who worked on these were listed either at the start or in the credits because in order to read the descriptions you have to expand it open. These people are clearly talented and deserve to get more recognition because I'll admit, I thought it was just one guy making these, which to me was insane- like how did ONE person make these? Well its clear an entire team worked on it.
Normally in shorts like this, there's some kind of horror twist ending where nobody wins, but this is a breath of fresh air. There's always a wholesome ending with a valuable lesson for Melvin, no matter how fucked up the world around him is. Edit: Just realized on a second watch that Melvin saved the fish from the collector's room and gave it a better home , gatdayum my heart.
I kinda saw that the crab is Melvin getting out of his shell while the fish being trapped in a small tank symbolize the collectors Melvin giving them a new home kinda symbolizes how he did kill them but if he didn’t he never woulda set they’re souls free n they would have been living in pain trapped inside the computer just like the fish are trapped inside a tank
Like the hermit crab stops attacking Melvin when he was holding up the game that his mom got mad at him for playing leisure suit Larry which I think does symbolize him getting out of his shell but when he buys all the games the store manager turns into the crab symbolizing he’s going back into the shell
This feels like a Junji Ito manga. People grow obsessed over small things to the point they're consumed by it. Papa meat, you did a great job of portraying loss, obsession, and coping, specially with how Melvin lets others step over him in attempts of ignoring his issues. Overall, it's a great message. It's not about forgetting, but acceptance. You outdid yourself with this series, Papa meat.
I find that comparison oddly fitting given the collectors had a junji Ito comic panel as a poster in one of the scenes. At least I think it’s junji ito
I LOVE that he made Jeremiah's head the shape of an N64 controller. Such a cool way to embed the theme of the video directly into the character design.
Losing a pet is impossible to drown out, one thing I didn’t understand about this animation. It’s just grieving as you would losing anyone in the family. I figured this was more about distracting yourself from adult responsibilities overall.
This episode completely illustrates why i always felt grossed out by people using nostalgia as an excuse to exert themselves or deny pain. We can never move on by thinking and living simpler times, it may hurt but we have to confront our pains and face the reasons we lay around and do nothing all day. For me it was being denied that i was in pain, being abused and forced to stay in contact with my abuser for the majority of my life, it hurt too much so i just sat down and played games all day, but eventually i broke my cycle and confronted the abuse, cut off those who hurt me, and moved on. I am now literally making rockets.
Well said! Couldn't agree more. It takes so much effort and strength to overcome these real challenges in our lives, but we're in a better off place when we eventually do!
Glad you moved on, but I believe we should try not to cast judgment on one another. I had a rough life too, and it is very easy for me to move on into something new and recreate myself. My brother is a completely different person that lived through a lot of the same things I did, just through a different lens...he isn't able to do that(rn anyway), so he is similar to the guys in the video. I don't judge him because I know what he's been through, I do push him to be the star I know he can be though. It's not always as simple as "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps ". Sometimes it's more complicated. I see it as life's not a sprint, for most it's a marathon. Some people just take time to realize their actual potential, ya know?!
As an adult I collect horror related stuff, movies, action figures, movie posters etc. I love it. I don’t plan to stop it’s something that I truly enjoy. But this video resonated with me loudly. Kinda shining a light on the unhealthy side of collecting. For example the impulse to spend money on “stuff” when I’ve had a bad day just to make myself feel better. Can be a black hole all in itself. Incredible video! Ironically I really want a Melvin plushie now😂
"you're stagnant, you're hollow, and i feel sorry for you." is such a great line also using flipnote studio to animate part of a video about nostalgia is kinda funny to me
It’s actually insane how good this series is. The amount of great story telling it illustrates in a mere 10 minutes is sick!! I was invested in Melvin as soon as I finished my first episode. It’s additionally great seeing a show tackle actual relatable topics in a funny yet emotional way while always giving a fulfilling positive* ending. Excited to see more!
i love how meatcanyon combines horror with wholesome, while also teaching valuable life lessons like how a hobby can help with trauma and feelings, but drowning those feelings in it isn't healthy, it's important to face them, too
Tbh I think I needed this. I never saw this video till now but I really needed to see this. 3 years ago I lost my only brother and I dove head first into the nostalgia of the 90s. It made me feel at peace, thinking of the memories of when we were kids and the feelings that came with it. It got so bad I was spending majority of my funds to this addiction and only putting money away for bills. This was a wake up call for me. I need to look forward, I need to stop looking back
I’m so sorry for your loss, the memories are always a treasure but don’t lose sight of other beautiful things in life and what the future may hold. Hope you’re doing okay and you got this!
Honestly, loss never really stops hurting. But, we can still get better. It's ok to hurt when it comes. It's ok to feel empty when you miss who is gone. But only by feeling the pain do we let that lots become a part of ourselves. And that's something that we can carry in honor of those who left before us. We loved them. We still do. It hurts to love them, but that's ok.
I've never bought a single thing from UA-cam videos or affiliate links, but something about this episode resonated profoundly deeply with me, and I just had to buy the nostalgia sweatshirt. Best animated video I've ever seen in my life and I've been watching UA-cam since it was created. Keep up the good work. I'd love to see more meaningful videos like this. ❤
Wow, this was a life changing video for me. I’ve been chasing that nostalgia recently with a coping mechanism of losing my brother and growing older. This was a perspective that I needed to see, showing the main character almost getting sucked in but realizing there’s more to life. Thank you.
I’m sorry for you lost 😞. Try talking to someone , someone that you trust and journaling . Find a way to live for your brother . A life he would be proud of 😊
This just made me realize I started collecting old toys when I was super depressed 😅 I only buy stuff occasionally now and maybe that's because I'm medicated and feel way better but it's still enjoyable to get stuff sometimes. I love ur message on how harmful it is to avoid those bad feelings with nostalgia, really fantastic animation:)
This hit way too close to home for me. This was (somewhat still is?) me for a LONG time. I grew up poor and disabled, had 70 surgeries by the time I was 25 (38 now and at like 84), and while I always liked nostalgia, it didn't hit the breaking point until I became disabled at like 28 and couldn't leave my house for very long for like 10 years. I was stuck in our "gameroom", which just turned into my sanctuary, so I filled it with things that reminded me of the past or things that I felt made me happy. But it got to the point where sections of the room were blocked off due to so much crap and my walls were all completely covered with fan art or large comic pictures. At the end of last year, we moved to another state so I could get away from the extreme heat of the south and to go somewhere where marijuana was legal (I got to the point where I was abusing my pain meds because they barely worked due to my body being on medications my entire life.) It's been like a completely different life here. The marijuana takes away most of my pain most days, and I can't actually go outside again to the point my wife and I been going on hiking trails or to the waterfront a couple times a week. I still have really rough mornings, and some days where I can't get off the couch, but I've gotten another chance at life. I still have my "man cave", but it's much more organized and only a fraction of what I did have up. The rest of my collection is in storage and I've been slowly selling it off. As someone else said, sometimes life is just hard and breaks you to the point where you want to escape into a world of your own making.
@GeekExtremist I’m glad you found peace man… I struggle with hoarding too. I have been through a lot of traumatic loss. My grandparents are gone (even tho that’s expected they were like a second set of parents), my mom unexpectedly died when I was 15, my older brother was hit & killed by a train… I hoard shit to fulfill that gaping spiritual wound in my heart. I struggle to throw away something as silly as a tang/iced tea pitcher my mom had when it broke… when it’s just another piece of plastic polluting this world. I don’t need it. I have memories, her writings, & paintings… but I have trouble discerning what to throw out & keep when the line is greyer (old mail to my mom from 2003, grocery lists she wrote, etc)… I’m in the process of purging my room because it got too cluttered, & despite making some significant progress I have an extremely hard time throwing some stuff out or donating it. 😔 ik a lot of people may look at people like you & I as unkept & messy, but I just want you to know that I understand your struggle bro… not with your physical disabilities but your hoarding issues I understand how toxic it can be & how much of a big step it was for you to do what you did… as the professor dude Jordan Peterson (if you dunno him you should look him up) said; “your room reflects your mind”… & he’s absolutely 💯 on that. & also, congrats on getting away from opioids too… I was self medicating with fentanyl & methamphetamine for a while, & I made the step to get medical help & get on suboxone & prescription amphetamines like adderall/vyvanse… I’d smoke weed too but unfortunately I’m on supervised release with the Feds. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you you’re not really in recovery if you use cannabis. Addiction is kinda misunderstood even in AA/NA… we use because we are medicating ourselves, & you switched to a safer & non addictive alternative instead of going down the road of opioid use… society & the government heavily discriminate against opioid users & because of that it’s easy to get into a shit ton of legal issues & put yourself in danger by using unregulated substances laced with unknown amounts of fentanyl, xylazine, or toxic cutting agents. my friend almost died once because her dope was laced with arsenic & she smoked it. I wish you the best life bro don’t ever doubt yourself✌🏻💯😁‼️
I can sympathize aswell, hope you're all getting better, even if it's baby steps. My advice is.. "Noone can help you but you, don't rely on a superhero to save you and make the right decisions for you, it's not gonna happen. start small, by yourself and be your own hero" It might sound obvious but it took me 20 years to figure out that self pity wasn't helping my situation at all and getting up to make daily improvements. Made my monumental tasks seem lighter and lighter. "You don't have to see the whole staircase just take the first step" MLK I believe..
I really like the detail of all the smaller fish resembling the characters he met through the episode, and how the larger Goldfish represented Jeremiah; you can tell by his eyes.
This meant something to me. If you keep running away from all of your problems, and ignoring pain, you never grow, and you never overcome your fears. You become addicted to the nostalgia, and it negatively affects your mental health. And when a pet dies, it’s like your family member dying all over again. Except you blame yourself, and the pet that was a placeholder for your loved one is also gone, just like your loved one. Nice job Papa Meat.
@@Kebab_2718no, animals are not humans. Loving your pets is fine, it’s wonderful. But Trying to equate them to human life is unhealthy, if for nothing else, because they have such a short lifespan and no capacity to reciprocate the same intellectual feelings.
Animals are better than humans while some humans are worse than rabid wild animals you have no idea what you are talking about, as we humans don't deserve them@@FIightmedic
“Numbing yourself until you can’t feel anything at all. You’re hollow.” That one is too real. As someone who’s into collecting and nerd culture I’ve interacted with way too many people who don’t or can’t feel any emotion towards anything. You would think you’re speaking to the 😐 emoji in human form.
this was an absolute masterpiece. the way you tapped into the human psyche and called out a big majority of us is pretty damn awesome. i've been wanting to put this phenomenon into words, let alone a video, so i really appreciate the hard work that went into the writing and producing. KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"A big majority of us." Everyone else above doesn't know that people go through this and think they are a main character thinking "us" is talking to only them living a miserable, and closeminded life as a grain of sand that can be replaced by millions of grains of sand, to be fair the grain of sand has more purpose than the people that say "Us? WhO Is uS?" which includes you, also the term "us" still doesn't go to your thick skull, as you are stubborn as a mule that us means "used by a speaker to refer to himself or herself and one or more other people as the object of a verb or preposition." The commenter is talking about the people that own anime figures and buy them to cope for their lives and past trauma. This can even be related to people buying only fans pictures to cope. To be fair her use of us is kind of confusing and should have been more clear when addressing the people they were talking about but it is simple on what this person is talking about. To add saying "us" makes you feel kind of guilty and questioning about you acting the same on impulse buying for trauma. I'll give the benefit of doubt you don't. P.S.If you don't want to read all that it is just me saying "Nah I'd win, you failed rapscallion. Don't just buy things to cope."
This is such a sensitive subject done right. The moment I knew their motive everything clicked. Living a life of pure imagination and bliss, staying in your realm of wonders to avoid the harsh reality of truth is such a hard thing to discuss. Especially moving on from the pain. Choosing to null the pain instead of facing it head on. Yet you did it, you LEGEND.
Shell of his pet represents acceptance of the loss and the good memories with it. Four goldfish are the collectors symbolically, their goldfish memory a metaphor for the constant search of novelty at the loss of accepting complex reality. Whole episode packed with fantastic and subtle symbolism. This is story telling with so much depth it is beautiful.
As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD ever since childhood and only started to treat it seriously the moment college started to wreck me this was very heartwarming. I have a lot of regrets and hyperfocus is something that draws you towards nostalgia super hard. This is definitely the best Melvin Macabre episode so far. And it definitely reminded me that engaging with hobbies and your nostalgia is not a bad thing, but you need to keep moving forward, and accept the pain or make amends.
It really is just a wholesome thing, you don't need it all as long as you cherish the people and things you do have. It's a amazing story and amazing moral I think we all should live by that message.
Yeah life sucks for almost everyone, but that's no reason to run from it. Change what you can change and adapt to what you can't change. edit: even if it takes some time. "Rome was not built in a day" as they say
Meatcanyon has done a great job at teaching us important things in life while being a pretty funny shitposter but tbh I love how i just lose track of the funny/goofy parts and get sucked into the story of it all because it helps represent the theme and lets it stand out in all of his creations and I really do hope he keeps up the good work as it's also better and more helpful then most mainstream TV IMO. but great job Meatcanyon and thank you for helping many people learn these important lessons and life values.
wow, I'm in complete awe at how fantastic this was. also love all the impeccable detail in the room. at around 0:58 you can actually see a wendigoon plush. lol thats dope.
I hate that no one is giving credit to the 1-2 second scenes of the collector's room full of nostalgic toys at 0:53 - 1:02. Those were really well drawn scenes just to be only seen for a couple of seconds.
As a hoarder who literally just finished buying new wallpaper and a slimmer wardrobe to force myself to gut my room, this plunges coldly straight into my heart.

Meat canyon is an absolutely incredibly talented voice actor, like among the best that have ever done it good. He deserves more attention and a real role in the industry.
My dude this stuff is easily your best work. You get to bring the dark humor and grotesqueries that define your style but it's tied into this heartfelt, human story starring just a goofy, sweet little guy. I love it.
I found you from your other channel and it was only through My husband showed me your animations. This was the first one he decided to show me at random. Every single one of these collectors reminded me of a (abusive and toxic) ex boyfriend that I had left for a better life with my husband in question. I feel like I could have been one of those people, but like Melvin I managed to stop and process everything. I got away from that. I hope it's not cheesy to say, but this moved me to tears by the end. This is a beautiful piece of animation. Thank you for this beautiful contribution to the world.❤
So idk if anyone will read this but my dad was a collector of model trains, records, and sheet music. Our entire house was a messy, hoarded showcase for his obsessions. Unlivable. After he died, we cleaned out hundreds of model trains, hundreds of pounds of sheet music, and over 5k vinyl records. Most of them were in bad shape because he didn't bother to store them correctly. The dangers of collecting, lol. Oh yeah, and he struggled big time with expressing emotions. Lots of yelling.
You're correct goldfish are also smart animals they can recognize faces they don't just have a 7 minute attention span. Everyday I came home they always knew it was me they wouldn't act crazy for anybody else except me and I'll be able to feed them out of my hand
There is an enormous parallel between Melvin and the elderly, they accepted that even though their son is no longer here, they remember him for what was in his life and continue on their path, while Melvin is horrified by the thought of the death of his pet. and temporarily blocks it. Impressive, also the references and cameos that they adorn to give weight to each one's nostalgia. And clearly Melvin will have to drill 4 holes for those geeks
I bet you were a great owner and you took care of the cat with much love. Cat had an amazing life and loved you too he or she couldn't have ask for better person :)
Among everything else, the effects are handled beautifully... The transitions that shift reality from the 'macabre' to the 'mundane' - it's like a shift between the depths and fears of what lurks in one's unconscious, and the natural world. Even though his past is a source of pain (The death of his hermit crab, and the figure of it appearing to 'haunt' him), it holds the key (the figure flitting in with a golden, yet haunting transition) for him to move forward to embrace reality as how it truly is. After some healthy reflection and grieving, It is in pain and sorrow we can find what we need to move forward. Just as well, the sound direction immerses you into this world! All of the elements, and the layers are a delight when it comes to Melvin's Macabre. There's too many to mention!
Thanks for not 'cheapening' the ending by ruining the emotional moment with a joke. It's something a lot of comedy media does because they forget they also have to tell a story. Great episode!
THIS MELVIN EPISODE IS FUCKIN FANTASTIC DUDE!!!!! THAT FLASHBACK SCENE WAS SO FUNNY!!!!!

I like how it ended with Melvin keeping the fish tank in Saving the fish that was dying from the beginning to now living happy with other fish friends and he kept the shell of the crab as a centerpiece of the bottom of his fish tank🥹
I like how this episode doesn’t insult people for collecting, and more just shows the aspect of people just using it to get rid of all their pain
Yep, that’s good that it makes that distinction as you should be able to collect what you like, but not use it as a means of escape from the pain.
Well, the last comment by Melvin was quite an insulting summary of what MC thinks of them.
Btw the feeling of escapism can happen also with other addictions in general.
Gotta hand it to the team. Definitely came from a personal place.

Damn, this had a real good message. Fantasy is fun casually but you should never hide from reality with it. Life is hard ships but it’s worth living.

Loving the development of MeatCanyon’s artform.

I cannot describe how much I love this series, I get so incredibly excited when a new episode comes out.
You're strong! Very inspiring to read that! Keep going!
This was actually very inspirational ngl. May God bless you dearly

Nostalgia fanaticism isn't a solution to make adult life better.
At the end of last year, we moved to another state so I could get away from the extreme heat of the south and to go somewhere where marijuana was legal (I got to the point where I was abusing my pain meds because they barely worked due to my body being on medications my entire life.)
It's been like a completely different life here.
I'm glad that your syndrome-kinda thing is almost down, but damn, 10 years of gameroom? I'd go insane. W for your sanity
It’s good to have some balance in life.Find some more trails get some bikes. When you get going you will feel better
I can sympathize aswell, hope you're all getting better, even if it's baby steps.
My advice is.. "Noone can help you but you, don't rely on a superhero to save you and make the right decisions for you, it's not gonna happen. start small, by yourself and be your own hero"
It might sound obvious but it took me 20 years to figure out that self pity wasn't helping my situation at all and getting up to make daily improvements. Made my monumental tasks seem lighter and lighter.
"You don't have to see the whole staircase just take the first step" MLK I believe..
Hope you're fine bro ❤ 😎👌🏼 Thanks for sharing a bit of your life!
I’m starting to realize that Melvin’s head and face look like a depressed male version of Betty Boop.
Bingo. I never saw it until now. 😅
@jabrone.destoroyah2 of them look like jacksepticeye for some reason
I get Edgar Alan poe vibes
I noticed instantly but I'm old lol
"Hell Baby" by Hino Hideshi vibes
💀
I love that by the end Melvin found an appropriate amount of nostalgia to keep him going. Just a nice little reminder of his old pal ✨
Nice job Papa Meat.
it's like paranoia agent
Let’s say, a pet is part of family tbh, hands down I love my pet just as I love a member of family
@@Kebab_2718no, animals are not humans. Loving your pets is fine, it’s wonderful. But Trying to equate them to human life is unhealthy, if for nothing else, because they have such a short lifespan and no capacity to reciprocate the same intellectual feelings.
This feels like something that South Park would make like seriously, this was South Park humor
Animals are better than humans while some humans are worse than rabid wild animals you have no idea what you are talking about, as we humans don't deserve them@@FIightmedic
“Numbing yourself until you can’t feel anything at all. You’re hollow.”
That one is too real. As someone who’s into collecting and nerd culture I’ve interacted with way too many people who don’t or can’t feel any emotion towards anything. You would think you’re speaking to the 😐 emoji in human form.
Emotions are useless and only makes you weaker
@@itypethetruthnobshere8975woah, I'm 14 and this is weally weally deep
@@itypethetruthnobshere8975what makes you weak is not facing your emotions and moving on.

I think I need a therapist-
this was an absolute masterpiece. the way you tapped into the human psyche and called out a big majority of us is pretty damn awesome. i've been wanting to put this phenomenon into words, let alone a video, so i really appreciate the hard work that went into the writing and producing. KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im going to touch you
us?
who's us?
I didn’t think about it like that
Fantastic analysis!
I feel this.
I relate to this really hard. Thanks for sharing man, it feels less lonely knowing someone shares the experience.
It’s important to have coping mechanisms. But it’s just as important to not be consumed by it.
I love using pharmaceutical methamphetamine to help with my adhd! I’ll get diagnosed all over again for more of this shit!
Amen brother
@@alchene321 exactly you're honestly so right
@@WWIA7062-2everyone already knows this?
wow, I'm in complete awe at how fantastic this was. also love all the impeccable detail in the room. at around 0:58 you can actually see a wendigoon plush. lol thats dope.
weird to see a meatcanyon animation as wholesome as this
Don't read my name...
"Wholesome"
Bro this is bot paradise
4 people die they were geeks but still
I hate that no one is giving credit to the 1-2 second scenes of the collector's room full of nostalgic toys at 0:53 - 1:02. Those were really well drawn scenes just to be only seen for a couple of seconds.
I wonder if Papa meat is gonna do a video where he points out all the pop culture refs
the Shining rug was pretty good
it was pretty cool to see
The Wendigoon plush was pretty awesome
Liandra from Mass Effect, oh the memories of a simpler time.
As a hoarder who literally just finished buying new wallpaper and a slimmer wardrobe to force myself to gut my room, this plunges coldly straight into my heart.
So what next? Sell the stuff?

Surprisingly this was quite wholesome. Loved it!
been having a super hard time dealing with PTSD for the past few days. the ending of this episode almost put me to tears. thank you papa, you dont realize how much i needed to see this right now
Jeremiah’s head is a N64 controller, I’ll give you props for that meatcanyon 👏
Чёрт, а ведь ты прав!
Duuuuuude... I was wondering why the shape of his head felt so... NOSTALGIC to me the whole episode XD
@RonnieMcfloydUTTPbot
It’s funny how warm hearted Melvins voice is and sometime deranged and insane 💀💀
Meat canyon is an absolutely incredibly talented voice actor, like among the best that have ever done it good. He deserves more attention and a real role in the industry.
Just amazing
Read this as he threatened the game-slop worker. Pffft
@RonnieMcfloydUTTPno
that was the greatest thing i have seen all week. a job well done.
3:52 Thinking about meatcanyon actually saying this irl in the recording studio is giving me quite the chuckle.
My dude this stuff is easily your best work. You get to bring the dark humor and grotesqueries that define your style but it's tied into this heartfelt, human story starring just a goofy, sweet little guy. I love it.
The voices too

I found you from your other channel and it was only through My husband showed me your animations. This was the first one he decided to show me at random. Every single one of these collectors reminded me of a (abusive and toxic) ex boyfriend that I had left for a better life with my husband in question. I feel like I could have been one of those people, but like Melvin I managed to stop and process everything. I got away from that. I hope it's not cheesy to say, but this moved me to tears by the end. This is a beautiful piece of animation. Thank you for this beautiful contribution to the world.❤
The boy lives!! And what a touching short story about coping with grief. Pat yourself on the back Hunter this was awesome buddy

8:55 bro that line was heat…”this isn’t good bye, because we were never welcome…”
I gotta say, these Melvin episodes are definitely your best work. Well thought out and always animated beautifully.
Lots of yelling.
why you think he did it
@@pinnacleexpress420 emotional issues from childhood my best guess
I'm sorry to hear that.
This is the message I needed to see man, thanks for that. I’m betting I’m on my way to the same thing, so maybe it’s time to make some changes.
Don't want to pry or come out as offensive, but this feels a bit like autism. If it goes unaddressed, it can make your life a real mess : (
As someone who sees the tragedy of people mistreating goldfish on a regular basis, I like the message ending with giving a goldfish a better home.
You're correct goldfish are also smart animals they can recognize faces they don't just have a 7 minute attention span. Everyday I came home they always knew it was me they wouldn't act crazy for anybody else except me and I'll be able to feed them out of my hand
@@GudJonnyCakes They do! They can even learn tricks.
This legitimately looks and feels like a TV pilot, very well done
Poor Melvin. He deserves happiness and a normal group of friends. He’s got so much torment and trauma in his mind.
I love you man. I always did 👍
pfffff I see wacha did there
I recently lost my kitten, and i gotta say, that scene where Melvin remembers the happy moments with his crab hit me hard.

I like how no matter how horrifying Meatcanyon animations, there's always a hidden morale in them
"hidden"
hidden? behind what?
it didnt feel hidden for me. This one was kind on the nose to be honest.
it wasn't hidden at all.
moral, you ///
Among everything else, the effects are handled beautifully...
Never in my life, did I think I would cry over a Meat Canyon episode. I love these Melvin videos, they're fantastic.

What he did was reasonable grief. He processed the way he did then honored his lil buddy the best he could. Rock on Melvin!
thanks for opening people eyes. even in a crude way like this.
your work is amazing keep doing that
Thanks for not 'cheapening' the ending by ruining the emotional moment with a joke. It's something a lot of comedy media does because they forget they also have to tell a story. Great episode!
