@@Eli-ss9gj your history is stolen you baltimorons don't deserve to have paul browns name which is what that fat lying pos art modell tried to do take a man's name he fired to a garbage Baltimore Maryland
I guarantee you if they kept the name the Baltimore Browns, they wouldn’t have 2 super bowl wins and one of the most successful NFL franchises of the last 25 years. The Browns name is cursed
The thing that has cursed the Browns all these yrs is by not putting a actual logo on the side of there helmet . Think about it. Art didnt have one put on the helmet while he was there in Cleveland but by God he did have a logo for Baltimore. And a damn good one. Ravens they haunted the browns for over 24 yrs since the browns have been back plus those Ravens and the city of Baltimore have 2 lombardis . The city we last beat in the last NFL league championship Cleveland has 1964. Get it together big C town If you build it it will come. ⬜️🟫🟧🟫⬜️
You have to give Art Modell credit where credit is due. His poor decisions led to the creation of two NFL franchises. First, the Cincinnati Bengals, after he fired Paul Brown in the 1960s. Coach Brown would end up founding the Bengals a few years later. Cincinnati would win two AFC championships and make two Super Bowl appearances in the 1980s while Art Modell probably watched from his house on television. The Bengals' 1988 AFC Championship and Super Bowl appearance was preceded by Browns losses in the AFC title game in the previous two seasons, as well as followed by one the year after. And finally, the new "expansion" Cleveland Browns. After being unable to con and swindle Cleveland taxpayers into gifting him a new stadium, Modell succeeded in doing so in Baltimore. This move obviously led to the NFL "deactivating" the Browns and setting the stage for them to return in 1999.
I wish that Art would have left the history in Cleveland willingly. Also, I think Modell should’ve been more up front about moving if he really thought that it would’ve been best. It’s very unfortunate! However, it would’ve been nice if Cleveland would’ve built him a new stadium. Yes, I’m aware of the Gateway Project, I don’t know why he declined. The city really should’ve gotten to him sooner. I mean, Bud Adams (Houston Oilers) was more upfront about moving. I’ll always be thankful that he and his wife, Pat helped with hospice, but The Move will always make me sad.
He’s also the reason why the Houston Texans exist. Had it not been for the Cleveland Browns being reactivated in 1999 there would’ve been no need for the NFL to create a new expansion team in the Houston Texans. The only reason why they created another expansion team was so there would be an even number of teams in the NFL as once the Cleveland Browns for reactivated 1999 there was an odd number of teams the only way to rectify that was to create the Houston Texans to have the 32nd team in the NFL.
@@TheSSUltimateGokuI didn’t know that. However, it probably came back faster. Bud Adams, Bob Irsay, and Al Davis were probably somewhat responsible, too. It’s just unfortunate that Modell took the stadium off of Cleveland’s hands to begin with. He didn’t have the competency to do so! I don’t like how Art handled things, however Mike White should have taken the former’s pleas seriously.
The closest thing to it I've ever heard of was "Believeland". Which talked about how we Cleveland fans stayed loyal during a title drought. I mean, we've experienced, "Right Red 88", "The Drive", "The Fumble", "The Shot", "The Move", "The Hit", "The ALCS Collapse", "The Decision". If you'd like to go back to 1953, you can throw "The Catch" in there. Also, "Indians to Guardians" in 2021. However, one highlight in there was the 2016 NBA Finals win! Speaking of what was announced in 2021, I'll bet if they were the "Naps", "Spiders", "Guardians" or anything else for that matter, and changed to "Indians", I'll bet a lot of people wouldn't have liked that either. I'm thankful as a Clevelander to have three major pro teams. There have been plenty of tough moments, but some happy ones, also.
Let's be honest, the browns needed a new stadium. Cleveland, did you really want the browns to keep playing in a baseball stadium built during the great depression?
Yes, that’s true. I mean, it made me sad that he moved the team. However, that stadium needed to be replaced much sooner. If he hadn’t taken responsibility off the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) may have moved. Also, Art Modell doesn’t get a pass, but he had compelling reasons to leave. Why he chose not to sell wasn’t only because he wanted to pass the team onto his family. It was also because the stadium was in horrible condition. He didn’t go about the Move correctly, but the city wasn’t innocent. It refused to take him seriously.

If you think about it, it's sort of like a person who got cheated on but goes ahead and also cheats. If I were a Baltimore resident, I probably would have had a very difficult time accepting the Browns and becoming a fan. I just would not have been able to feel joy while somebody else was feeling the exact same pain that I had once experienced.

I didn’t feel any sadness for Cleveland. Nobody cried or cared when the Colts left and when Baltimore was denied a new team twice before the Ravens. Plus Cleveland was promised a new team right away. Baltimore was told to go build a museum rather than try and get a new NFL team. So no Cleveland will never get sympathy from me.
