Actually they can. If you think about it, high home prices reduce stress on the economy: 1. Retirees have equity in their homes that they can live off. So less reliance on social security. 2. High Property prices = higher property & land transfer taxes. 3. Youth rents and doesn’t buy - hence having more disposable income to spend into the economy. More people investing in alternate assets like stocks - always good for the economy. 4. Youth owns nothing and look for alternates to multiple wealth and afford housing one day - pushing them to think of starting businesses and fuelling the economy. The only one who loses is the person wanting to buy a home and obsessed over this being their purpose in life. Everybody else incl the govt wins :)

If you think about it, high home prices reduce stress on the economy:
1. Retirees have equity in their homes that they can live off. So less reliance on social security.
2. High Property prices = higher property & land transfer taxes.
3. Youth rents and doesn’t buy - hence having more disposable income to spend into the economy. More people investing in alternate assets like stocks - always good for the economy.
4. Youth owns nothing and look for alternates to multiple wealth and afford housing one day - pushing them to think of starting businesses and fuelling the economy.
The only one who loses is the person wanting to buy a home and obsessed over this being their purpose in life. Everybody else incl the govt wins :)
