I used to play islands 24/7 and i made alot of core memories bit the reason why i left is i guess that it started to feel overwhelming from all the updates, and after a while i felt as if the updates were pointless and when they updated the main islands i found it hard to adapt to it, I spent 40% of my time just looking for the portal. Islands will always be a core memory of mine, remember chilling in the first main hub listening to the og music. Counting down the time to the Kong Event or checking out the new mailbox update or checking out their new game "bedwars"

I didn't get overwhelmed by the crazy updates back then, but what really put me off was the lack of user-accessible content over the later months and the last year of it's lifespan. Still going strong though, if only they could rework their code to prevent memory leaks...
what put me off islands was the insane powercreep of weapons that needed long time to grind, then suddenly nerfing all of them. Like static scepter where it was so trash before, but gotten buffed so hard during halloween 2023 that people splurged 250m into it. Right after halloween, the devs changed scepter to become similar to speelbook, shooting projectiles instead of rays, causing people to waste their millions
This game was one of my favorites in 2020, and its so sad to see it become another game that gets left to rot, i came back to the game very recently and started a new islands with my friends and the game is so different. The hub island is way bigger than i remember it being, most islands dont look anything like they used to, except for slime island, and everything is based off a forced progression system due to the leveling system. I will always remember spending 5 hours in the lake getting the aquamrine for the spellbook even if it was painful
Same, I remember fishing in the lake trying to get some propellers for washing stations while talking with my old buddies. So many memories that’s I will never forget.
I took a break from this game for a few years, and joined back to realize how corrupted the economy became, I remember when smelters were a million coins are 2 million, I had items that cost 200x or more the price it originally was, R.I.P this game, it will never be the same
Islands or should I say, skyblox or skyblock was my go to roblox game back then. Sad they stopped updating. Also there's a game called "Islands Archive" and it perfectly replicates how the OG islands looks like. I'll personally grind the game again because the original island is in shambles with how inflated the price is for everything and since the OG island is much much simpler.

I remember playing Islands before and I quit a year or so ago bcs I realised a lot of my stuffs vanished from my inventory and my island we're half destroyed idk why. There was an issue with the save data system the game had. I know a UA-camr named Baxtrix had his whole island destroyed. My stuffs in my inventory was actually stuffs that we're duped and I didn't know about it so I lost so many things. That brought me to decide to forever quit Islands.
Long story short was they dug their own grave and refused to fix it, they saw bedwars are more profitable = more money for than and last idk how true this is but I heard it from DV but allegedly the coding for islands is archaic especially for modern Roblox games which made it take more time for updates
I saw friend come and go. Many factors took place. Bed Wars also had an impact on many of my friends leaving islands to play that popular game. Also I agree with other people on here about making items harder to make, and limited items harder to grind. I actually appreciated players that duplicated items. They made it easy for us to get cheaper items at shops.
I played the game a few months after launch and was an active player until the mastery update. The game went from fun grinding to grinding for the sake of grinding for me.I tried to keep playing but at some point it was just to boring for me.

personally i stopped playing because they just kept reworking stuff. they completely redid the hub like 3 times and all the mob islands too. i love the game how it was and they just kept changing stuff. its a thing i see a lot with games of its kind. you love them how they are and they just keep majorly changing stuff instead of just adding new content but yeah i love this game i will never forget grinding for starfruit seeds with my friends, breeding flowers, making pixel art, grinding for spell books and diamonds, anyway yeah it will always hold a special place in my heart i wish they just left things how they were (also i really hate bedwars)
Here in August/September of 2024 dv plays, who used to be the biggest islands content creator released his new game which is called high realms, it's just like islands but challenging and engaging, I recommend checking it out to anyone who wants to start playing Skyblock like games.
New islands type games will release with DV making high realms but also me with my dev team, trying our best to make what islands was deserved to really be... The development is going really well and we plan on releasing an open beta in the next few months, possibly before christmas
the funny thing is that i was one of the first players who started duping i was using migrating data method and i duped shitttt toon of treasure chests and diamond mine portals which made me quite rich when the economy was stable bc no one knew the method and i never got inventory wiped ^^
reminds me old school runescape, with og runescape being renowned for all sorts of exploits and duping cases that has affected the economy severely, they will keep doing it no matter what the devs do. the big difference is that islands as a project has discontinued entirely.
This is a life lesson actually because you work so hard for something and you can loose it in the future but you just don't know when it will come and that's what happened to islands

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned this but Islands never really had a UA-cam community. You had a lot of people making vids about the game initially like Telanthric, Jessetc, even Tanqr. All these other UA-camrs left the game, to where DV was pretty much the only big islands youtuber. For such a large game islands was at the time (with around 20-30k players) you’d expect their to be a lot more islands UA-camrs creating content for the game and thus growth. Islands IMO mostly fell from the stale updates that would promote rare items and create hype for only little time (same goes with seasonal events) They should’ve focused on larger updates that created more hype and bring back returning players such as a factory tier 3, electricity tier 2, crafting tier 5, etc. Apart from that, I think Islands just became too complicated for a new player. I don’t think the trash in-game tutorial helps guide new players well either

Oh man I remember those hours spent with my best friends from 3 years ago grinding pink sticky gears to finally get our first Industrial Smelter. I remember the rush of dopamine when we broke through 10m coins. I remember the panic of noticing that we only had 2 days left to get christmas tokens and buy the trophy to sell to a shop owner for 250m. I remember the day that we logged on to see all of our coins gone, all of the totems from my amazing multi-million coin per hour auto starfruit farm lost, and a new levels system that rendered our Guilded-Steel pickaxes completely useless. I remember the pure excitement of the Diamond Boss update (cant remember his name), and I remember the intense frustration of when nobody would spawn it. I remember the excitement of crafting our first Rage Blade which we shared and took it in turns to use against the monsters. I remember the pure wonder of exploring the Wizard Island, and then annoyance when we realised that our Rage Blades were no longer useful there. I didn't know it then, but I made so many happy memories with my best friends (who I am no longer in contact with). I would pay a lot to go back to those times.

right now trophies are unbuyable coz vending cap is 1b. Im a weapon and trophy collector and the only ones im missing is mushroom trophy, halloween 2023, gold fish, dao, cursed grimoire and cursed hammer. I rlly want to just collect those items and start a new co op with my friends, but with only 1b coins, i doubt i can get any of them lol. I wish there is a way i can get them...

It was overall a really good vid Really good explanation about how it happened, other peoples clips, and the updates. I have been playing since 2020 It was a really good game with a bunch of potential but. Amazing video, brings me back to the old days of islands. The game got me through the pandemic when I was just a little kid, and I still am, but it still holds a special spot in my heart. There will never be another islands, but I hope ur channel grows bigger because u deserve it. (Waiting for islands 2 now)
Honestly, the duping made me quit the game. While i was grinding wizards, i found a tidal spellbook blueprint and was shocked. For the next 2 days, all I played was islands. I was so happy to get the tidal spellbook because of its value, which was extremely high at the time of release, but nowadays, the dupers shredded its value to it now only being around less than 400k. I felt as if my time would have been better spent doing something else.
Fr. Another thing that made me so mad was the removal of cactus spike bp in crafting it. I grinded like 4 months for cactus spike bp and used it so i could craft it. But then islands decided to make cactus spike dont require bp. I technically wasted my time
another resion tht islands 'floped' or isent as popular anymore is because of how over complicated they made it. i still remember the good old day when t fst came out i was a yutuber playing t and despret t get a free version of Minecraft skyblox i started playing it and i really enjoyed it but now i've stoped playing completely since its just to over complicated and hard to play now i just play Minecraft education edition with my school account a better way to play free minecraft

I played from the beginning, when it was called skyblox. I remember I started at the same time the slimes were added, and I saw the game progress so much. It is so sad what slowly happened with the economy, that ended up killing the game, but the weekly updates were also kinda hurtful, if you take a break, you had A LOT to catch up to. This game will always be in my memory :( as it is essentially dead now.

Dupe or duplicating is a way to make a copy of another thing. So instead of 1 you can make another while still having the previous one.

In my opinion, bedwars is quite repetitive unlike many skyrocketing games.
Fr they wanted to focus on bedwars only because it makes more money and you can’t put that much game passes in islands
Oh man I remember those hours spent with my best friends from 3 years ago grinding pink sticky gears to finally get our first Industrial Smelter. I remember the rush of dopamine when we broke through 10m coins. I remember the panic of noticing that we only had 2 days left to get christmas tokens and buy the trophy to sell to a shop owner for 250m. I remember the day that we logged on to see all of our coins gone, all of the totems from my amazing multi-million coin per hour auto starfruit farm lost, and a new levels system that rendered our Guilded-Steel pickaxes completely useless. I remember the pure excitement of the Diamond Boss update (cant remember his name), and I remember the intense frustration of when nobody would spawn it. I remember the excitement of crafting our first Rage Blade which we shared and took it in turns to use against the monsters. I remember the pure wonder of exploring the Wizard Island, and then annoyance when we realised that our Rage Blades were no longer useful there.
I didn't know it then, but I made so many happy memories with my best friends (who I am no longer in contact with). I would pay a lot to go back to those times.

This game was very close to my heart and a very huge part of my life so far between th playz and dv playz inspiring to start my own channel this game was amazing i miss the updates already and miss og islands on top of it

Hopefully in the future, a new islands comes out and they find a way to prevent duping in all ways. Even if it may be be hard to code. I’d rather it take them years to make a better version over one that comes out tommorow with a lot of problems

The economy changes were too crazy, it went from industrial to washing machine being 800k to now 130m.
right now trophies are unbuyable coz vending cap is 1b. Im a weapon and trophy collector and the only ones im missing is mushroom trophy, halloween 2023, gold fish, dao, cursed grimoire and cursed hammer. I rlly want to just collect those items and start a new co op with my friends, but with only 1b coins, i doubt i can get any of them lol. I wish there is a way i can get them...

since they only focused on economy and rare items which anyone can get and get millions, people started leaving and went to other games, which is why skyblock had 60k ccu and then 15k ccu in 2023, then they started earning less money and went for bedwars cause of how p2w the game is
it’s sad this game is over it will always hold a special place in my heart the reason it fell off for me was there was so many farms that made getting coins easy making the economy really bad and dupers because islands had to wipe everyone’s inventory at one point so like 60 percent of people left also they made bedwars so I don’t think as many people where focusing on islands and it had to many updates you may think that’s a good thing but it just made the game more confusing so for some people like dv mentioned the game got kinda complicated and lost its simplicity what it used to have anyways as I said islands will always hold a special place in my heart this is just my opinion if you don’t agree that’s okay I hope you guys still enjoy island’s/ won’t forgot it like me if you read all this god bless you

To be completely honest I haven't seen a video edited this good in a while. As an Islands player you don't see many videos about the game So it's nice to see some. It was overall a really good vid Really good explanation about how it happened, other peoples clips, and the updates. I have been playing since 2020 It was a really good game with a bunch of potential but. Keep up the good work really good video and I have a feeling you will end up with thousands maybe millions of subscribers. Good Job.

Amazing video, brings me back to the old days of islands. The game got me through the pandemic when I was just a little kid, and I still am, but it still holds a special spot in my heart. There will never be another islands, but I hope ur channel grows bigger because u deserve it. (Waiting for islands 2 now)

Another big issue with the game was the rng. Not many people wanted to spend hours just to have a slim chance of getting their desired item.
Honestly, the duping made me quit the game. While i was grinding wizards, i found a tidal spellbook blueprint and was shocked. For the next 2 days, all I played was islands. I was so happy to get the tidal spellbook because of its value, which was extremely high at the time of release, but nowadays, the dupers shredded its value to it now only being around less than 400k. I felt as if my time would have been better spent doing something else.
Fr. Another thing that made me so mad was the removal of cactus spike bp in crafting it. I grinded like 4 months for cactus spike bp and used it so i could craft it. But then islands decided to make cactus spike dont require bp. I technically wasted my time
btw if anyone is wondering there is going to be a islands type game but its not make by the makes of islands, its from a UA-cam called dv

I played from the beginning, when it was called skyblox. I remember I started at the same time the slimes were added, and I saw the game progress so much.
It is so sad what slowly happened with the economy, that ended up killing the game, but the weekly updates were also kinda hurtful, if you take a break, you had A LOT to catch up to.
This game will always be in my memory :( as it is essentially dead now.
