- We had a ball in Kansas chasing all 3 species of upland birds for a week with great friends and family. The dog work was amazing, it just proved our theory that you can take a grouse dog anywhere, but you can't take a prarie dog and make it a grouse dog ;) I hope you enjoy this one, its a long one so grab a bag of popcorn and enjoy!

I get what your description is trying to say but....any broke dog will adapt to species. I know ruffed grouse are VERY particular in how a dog approaches them and you have to have a dog that's extremely cautious in the woods, but you can same the same for chukar/pheasant desert quail. It's really fun to watch an experienced dog learn a new species. I do think you might be right in that...if your dog grew up on forest grouse, it might make less mistakes on other species compared to the opposite. But a highly experienced chukar/pheasant dog is something to marvel over!

Awesome job what Part of Kansas are you in? My son's mother-in-law owns Land in louray I live in Pennsylvania. He keeps trying to get me to come out. I don't know if the pronunciation of that is right but it's luray I'm not sure if I spelled it right
Enjoyed the video. Subbed after I saw your hunt from RGS PA Wilds. Grew up near there and just learned about it as I'm getting back into the upland scene. Daydreaming of trips like this. Public or did you hunt private? Trying to gauge my expectations.

all but 1 of the chickens you shot were females. Females have pinnates too. Theirs are 3/4 inch long Males 2 inches. Easiest way to sex them is females have barred tails. Mails dont have any barring...solid brown

duno how it used to be but we had a good time, and found a lot more birds than what makes the cut of the video. What was a good day back then?
You are dangerous. You came closer to hitting your buddy than the bird a couple times. Can’t imagine what kind of shots you cut out of the video
