one thing I'd love from Td Miller: at the end of your review it would be SO cool to hear you thoughts on how to build an Altra shoe rotation with each model. E.g., pair this shoe as a daily trainer with another shoe for tempo work (but suggest the specific shoe).
That's a great idea! Thanks! My next video is already coming up in a few hours, but I'll definitely include that in my upcoming vids. I can probably make a shoe-rotation ot shoe-pairing video for those who are interested 😊
I bought half a size up from my usual Altras with the first Outroad and still found them a little bit too short for running, but they're fine for shorter hikes of 1-2 hours (just not running and possibly not long hikes either). I did find the grip was superb, however, on extremely wet pavement; hardly any slipping for me (far, far better than my Superiors, for example - not that they're a hybrid shoe), so I've ordered some Outroad 2s a whole size up to see if they work for running. Will report back.
Hi TD. Thanks for answering so many questions! Love the channel. I wear 9 in most shoes, and most Altras (Lone Peak, Escalante 3, Escalante Racer). However, I sized up to 9.5 in Rivera 2. Do you agree I should go with 9.5 for Outroad 2?
Great, thanks for your good review! What do you think about OutRoad 2 Vs LP7 as second pair of shoes for everyday training mid and long distance ? I'm a big fan of MontBlanc and looking for another pair. (Escalante racer for track run already and superior 5 for trail but too minimalistic for long)
Interesting. The Outroad 1 is my latest Altra and I love it since I find it much firmer than the torin, Escalante and lone peak - which I all find squishy. But you say you found the original outroad squishy, which makes me wonder about quality control or if it's a matter of multiple sources for the same midsole? Hoping I find the Outroad 2 having the same or firmer feel as the 1!
Yeah, now I'm confused. Generally speaking, the midsole always gets produced in the same factory, so either they fugded up my specific pair (left & right also differ in weight) or something else it up
Every slimfit models, go half size up! Didn't like the first one so I skipped this one. The first was too stiff, too narrow for me, theres so many better options like Timp 4 for example. I will stay with zerodrop so altrafwd is not for me. Disappointed to Altras midsoles, still not pebax or even close to that. Tempo is decent and do the job but cant wait Altra will wake up and finally release their super shoe!

Update, how is the fit of ver 2?

I think so yes. I find both the Outroad 1 and 2 fit a little smaller than my other Altras.

I find the Rivera 3 finally fixed the sizing issue, despite the slimmer footshape. I'm just hoping the Outroad will also be fixed in the future.
maybe the midsole differs from country where manufactured(temperature)..
Maybe you're right!
lolwut. 44.5 timp5 is only 300grams with vibram and egomax....
Stop talking about the same thing over and over again, my god man.
Wtf you talking about my boy???
