i agree with the people saying that the arena needs to be updated, and i honestly agree. they could add a better sand texture in the arena, and make the arena symmetrical. even make the seating area nicer. but y’all also need to realize how important the arena lines are to the dressage community. it helps with timing, keeping separate riders caught up with each other, make circles symmetrical, create new moves, help with comb alignments, and more! may i suggest checking out the ssd dictionary, and you will find that the arena lines are EVERYTHING that us dressage riders depend on.
back to updating the sand texture: they can update the arena, make it more realistic, but keep the arena lines. they can repaint them, give them a different texture, preferably make them more visible for those who have to play on lower graphics settings and those who have a hard time telling the difference between the floor texture and the line textures, but they NEED to keep the line textures where they are.
another idea is to give the camera overlay (which i’m sure they’re moving to somewhere else) different angles. this’ll help a LOT more than you would think with preparing for comps and commanding. currently, the overlay shows most of the arena but one corner that goes from the A wall to the table spacing wall. different angles may also help fix/tweak any issues commanders may see in their comp routines.
I think they should add a sort of mode for dressage? so you can click a button and it would show you the lines. That way you could still have a normal dressage arena then the sso dressage arena. Or they could make a separate arena all together? I dunno, personally I've never heard of anyone using those lines before but idk I'm just trying to find a way for both sides to be happy. I know a lot of people who really want it to change actually, but I also understand how hard it would be for the sso dressage community if they were to get rid of them. I do feel like when they update the arena and it still has the lines it would look quite odd? So that's why I suggested a dressage type mode.

In PQL we have over 30 sand lines and markers mapped out and named in the arena with diagrams, videos, pictures, etc. Mapping out these lines took us endless hours of testing to ensure they are 100% symmetrical, so I agree it would be a huge impact to have the grid in the arena floor changed.
However I am trying to stay optimistic, perhaps they will change the arena floor grid into something even better, perhaps designed to be already symmetrical with even more clear patterns as right now most riders/clubs can only see the bright sand dot patterns and the zigzag lines, even though there is actually 3 different patterns of sand lines (4 lines A & C, 4 lines E & B, and 2 lines diagonal). However, either way every club who utilizes sand lines will have to change their current methods (which will take everyone endless hours of updating, teaching, etc).
We are also in the middle of a SSD competition, and our current routine has already 20 sand markers specific for this competition routine, and if they update the RA floor during this competition, it will greatly affect our ability to perform.
I do like the idea posted below of a dressage mode, turning on the grid when needed (which would be a helpful learning tool for teaching how to see the lines). I guess we will just have to wait and see, and hope SSO hears our concerns! The floor in the arena is a picture overlayed in the game graphics, so it would be easy to keep it regardless of how they update the RA.

Am I the only one that loves the current arena ? I don't think , and never have thought , that it needs an update. I don't want the arena to change it's so nostalgic ... I'm gonna miss the arena :<

As an irl rider I just want the arena to have realistic proportions. The whole reason the lines are so important is because the arena have the wrong proportions and not enough letters. Personally I think the repeating pattern is ugly and I’d be happy to get rid of it, but if the proportions and letters were correct along with raked sand it would be pretty easy to navigate.

It would be great for star stable online to press a button and it will show you a line of dressage moves you click on one and it will put lines on the ground and if sso would it would be so cool to me 😊

mixed opinions. as a dressage rider irl we need it updated horrendously to have it with the lines still, but we need to IRL dressage show arena. like, maybe but the show arena inside the regular arena so like in irl you can do a lap around it before entering and saluting? just my opinion.

I stopped playing sso a few months ago. I saw all the rage on sso no listening to what we wanted. We only got horses. I think we ALL should be great full and thankful that StarStable is listening to us, adding a new area, updating the arena and so on. As a Christian it bugs me that WE ALL begged sso to fix things and turn things around for us all to enjoy and they are slowly doing that. Now we are being picky on how the arena Should be made? It’s StarStable’s Game; they can do anything with and IF certain things go out they way y’all don’t intend it or wish for it to come just be thankful that you got something out of nothing! The community will not be “screwed” you will find another way to manage without the lines if they are removed. Even though SSO has messed up they are trying to fix things by adding things but by bit to please you players.
yes, it isn't our game, but we are their largest player base and if they want to keep us happy and playing the game, they should take our suggestions into consideration. If worst case scenario, they do completely get rid of the lines, the community would be devastated. you may not understand, but clubs and individuals have been adapting to these arena lines for years. making moves off of them, diagrams and everything that are solely dependent on our beloved textures.
