I would add "Asterix and Cleopatra" to your list. I have to agree with you that Uderzo was not a very good writer and that the quality of the stories dropped a bit after Goscinny's death. However, I must say that the new adventures made by the new writers are not bad and emulate the kind of humour Goscinny was bringing. I read "La fille de Vercingétorix" (Vercingetorix's daughter?), and I found it pretty good.

You are probably right, I haven't read them. To me though, anything that is not written by Goscinny or Uderzo is just pushing product. Then again, I don't think that about Batman so I guess I am contradicting myself here...

I grew up reading Asterix comics. It is an awesome comicbook.
PS; Goscini did not create Lucky Luke, just wrote albums.
Asterix and the Cauldron was my first and Asterix in Switzerland and Asterix Legionaire are also classics.

You are right, but he elevated Lucky Luke from strip to full album, if I am not wrong.

Asterisk is my favourite all time comic book, tied with Tintin. I know both are so different how can I have a tie, I am just weird. I have no idea what they are like in English since I am French Canadian and I always read these comics in French. My collection is huge, all the Asterix, all the Tintin, all the Spirou, all the Lucky Luke, all the Blueberry, all the Alix, all the Blake et Mortimer…also Peyo and many others that may not been known by you, some are actually first printing going back to the 60’s and 70’s. I never realized how popular they are outside the French speaking world until the Internet and started meeting fans from all over the world.

They are/were massive in Spain, back in the 70s and 80s we all grew up reading comics. The French tradition spilled over here, and there were significant collaborations between French authors and Spanish artists: Los Gringos, MacCoy, even Blacksad a masterpiece of Spanish comics is released first in France and then in Spain. Pero you say? Wait in a couple of videos time...

@@JosesAmazingWorlds yes I am a big fan of his Johan et Pirlouis, I like Les Schroumpfs books But I never really watched the TV series. Dan Cooper is another series I really enjoy and Les 4 As…so many. I have also Mortadel et Filemon but I never was sure if they were originally Spanish comics or Italian

@@patrickols ah yes, Mortadelo y Filemón definitely Spanish. 99% of my generation has read them. They are a cultural staple.
