By the end of Infinite’s campaign Esparza asks what everyone should call the Weapon, and even though it’s implied given the fact she says “I might have the perfect name” I have reason to believe she will be calling herself Cortana. But I’m not sure I completely like the idea of her being named Cortana, not because she didn’t earn the name because she definitely did, but because she feels like her own unique character by the end of the story. I was hoping she would get her own original name, preferably something that doesn’t sound like a placeholder like “The Weapon”, even if it makes sense in practice. But at the same time, the reason this scene works so well for me is because it’s SUBTLE, The Weapon never states she’ll call herself Cortana, like I said before that was implied. The Weapon even asks Chief if it’s ok, which to me is an equally subtle way of asking the fans for permission. Please excuse me for the random literary analysis.
Whatever she ends up calling herself, I feel like John finally has some closure with everything that happened between himself and Cortana and is now ready to begin anew with his new companion 💚💙
I always loved Halo 4 and how beautifully it portrayed Chief and Cortana’s relationship, also I may be going crazy but thats Samantha’s Lullaby at 0:48
