Add his dominance in virtual racing too as on of the few real drivers there. Its a sign of how future champions will be build. They will show up too in virtual racing too.
I started watching F1 because of Max in 2020. Fell in love with this sport, started researching its history and legends. I'm very grateful to be witnessing the era of Max Verstappen! Love his passion for racing, his discipline, his blunt straightforward attitude and mindset. This guy bleeds racing. It's motivating for me to put in long hours to get good at things that will help improve my life. I hope to meet you one day Max! I pray he gets more than 7 WDCs, and ends up as not only the greatest F1 driver ever but the greatest racing driver ever!!!! ❤
He is the hardest worker on the grid. He is non stop racing 24-7. He is always honing his craft. As long as he is in a competitive car, no one is on his level at the moment. In the future we may be comparing the all time greats to him. Not him to the all time greats.

Although I fully agree with you, we need to acknowledge Lewis is 37 or so and most likely past his prime. Nevertheless, he’s still an amazing driver and I love to see them fight each other. If only Mercedes could improve their car…we’d get an awesome 2nd half of this season assuming Alonso will be right there at the front as well😋.
I saw a change in Max when he started the season after winning his first championship. He was so relaxed and confident. These driver work so hard from childhood to become an F1 world champion and most drivers never get there. Winning his first took so much pressure off him. Now he can just race, be himself and keep winning more championships. Of course it helps to be with a team that rarely makes a misstep.
As far as racecraft goes, Max is on par with Senna and Schumacher ... if not better. Max is definitely world class in wet conditions. Does not only win races in the dominant car, he won 11 in a much less performing car. Max lives an breaths racing in every kind of way, at the track and online. Perhaps his biggest asset is that he is honest, down to earth and does not have anything else on his mind but racing. Time after time when he gives his opinion, it makes screaming headlines ...... to then find out he was actually right. Similar to his fans Max wears his race shirt and does not parade in weird outfits. Max is a normal guy, hence why all official F1 survey's say that Max is by far the most popular driver in the world.
Yes, be proud. But spare a thought to Verstappen's background: he grew up mostly in Belgium,his mother,a former top level kart driver, is Belgian and he learned his racing craft mostly in Belgium.

Max was living and going to school in Belgium at a young age but had a lot of Dutch friends and was in the Netherlands a lot at his grandpa place just over the border in Nederland. But it's fair to say his dad made him this good. His dad spend so much time with him. But he has blood of both countries but he feels more Dutch. I also am halfblood and have the same feeling. Never the less he is half Belgium as well and Belgium people should be proud as well.
Once in a Millennium, his parents both highest level racers, and nurture by dad. Combined with the fight, eager and capability to relax in Max, he is already historic.
Yes the guy breaths racing. Competes in top level F1 on weekends. Pushes like every race was his last. Goes home then competes in top level sim racing. Weekend back in real car again often getting grand slam weekends. The last race where he still risked his win just to get fastest lap proved it in style.

I was still doubting long time (does he just have the best car conundrum). But when I watched his reaction after having lost once from Checo, and lots of People were thinking Checo ould start putting pressure on, i was convinced : never seen someone so unnerved after a loss, he felt completely unthreatened

The greatest is just an opinion and mostly will be the one people have seen for themselves. I go back to the Hunt & Lauda, days and for me, Max is the best I've ever seen! That over take on Leclerc in Austria proved it beyond any doubt! Although Jackie Stewart has seen them all and I respect his opinion and he reckons Jim Clarke. For me before Max, Senna & Shumacher were the best, Max has got Senna like talent and Shumacher ruthlessness & determination , so he's the best now!
i think 2021 was one of his hardest seasons and if he wasnt as good as he was LH would have won and what was added after that is, less pressure of winning, less pressure from the competition, more experience. between 2017 and 2020 LH was an absolute machine but now max is even better. hes probably the best driver that ever existed. absolute perfection only so little mistakes. Senna was fast, Schumacher was much better than many drivers before. LH did an amazing job between 2017 and 2020. Fangio was an engine whisperer on top of his car. Verstappen is probably all of these drivers combined, he is fast as senna, much better than many drivers before, an aboslute machine like LH Was and on top of his car like fangio was. he plays with the competition just doing whats needed to win nothing more. He will be winning the triple crown one day like only Graham Hill did
I can remember going to Genk to watch him karting. as a huge Jos verstappen fan I was hoping the son would do better, following F1 since 1973 with little Dutch success... Look where we are now, I always thought that when he'd start winning it may become boring, it's going that way... Still super proud but also hoping that he has to fight a little bit harder for future wins lol!

not probably... he is the best driver on the grid. He has the most karting titles with less years on the entire F1 grid and could even skip F2. In the rain he is was 2-3 seconds faster per lap than anyone on grid with a way less car. Brazil 16 F1, but also F3 Norisring.
I think what matters is his mentality (may it be a pose or his true character. I think the latter) of “I don’t give a s….., I will win”. No politics, no team orders, just flat out, no fear. AND no mistakes. Unbeatable at the moment. Thanks to Honda not in the least. It’s still a mystery to me why they officially stepped out of this magnificent F1 team. Does anybody know? I don’t.
As a Dutchie, I was not a fan of how Abu Dhabi 2021 panned out. But hey, if the ref makes a misstake, what are you going to do? Not score the goal? After that, the man became a machine. No misstakes. On it from lap one with everything under control. Patient, but ready to go Super Sayan when needed. Go Max!
I think you've listened to too much media hype my friend. The referee did not make a mistake, he decided as all teams agreed at the beginning of the season, that the race should not be finished behind a safety car, he should be applauded for that not vilified ! Hamilton was in a car which was quicker by a second a lap, he left the door wide open for the 2nd corner like an amateur ! I can guarantee, if the roles were reversed Max would have held him off and won. Best finish to a championship I've ever witnessed in 45 years!.....and I'm not Dutch and used to be a Hamilton fan, until he became a fake hypocrite. Even when I was a big Hamilton fan, I could see Max had the beating of him, as long as he had a car within 2/10ths of the Merc!
@@jackdominiak445 It's still a mistake. Teams agreed that ideally, races should end under green flag conditions. That doesn't mean that they should apply rules incorrectly to achieve that. Bringing in the safety car a lap earlier than the rules stated was fine, as there were other rules that could have allowed for that. But unlapping only some cars was a mistake. That doesn't mean you can't like the ending. As the OP stated, people make mistakes. It wasn't foul play, but it was a mistake. And of course Hamilton left the door open in the 5th (not 2nd) corner. Defending there would have been pointless. Verstappen made that lunge from a long way back. If Hamilton defends, Verstappen simply takes the corner normally. Hamilton would end up compromising his exit, and Verstappen would get a perfect exit, and sail past Hamilton on the straight. Hamilton did what he could with the tyres he had. Same for Verstappen.
Cars cant be build for one specific driver. It can be set up for one driver sure. But the driver has to put in good info to the mechanics. And Max is also very good at that. Daniel Ric is known to be a weak setup manager
Also all teams will do their best to make the car fitted for their driver. Only people who have a hard time accepting that their favorite driver stands no chance, try anything to make it seem like is unfair or something, must be due to something else haha.. omg

Ik ben Nederlander en dus niet geheel objectief. Maar had nooit verwacht dat een Nederlander ooit een een f1 race zou winnen. Met Jos verstappen kwam dat in de buurt, maar helaas net niet. Maar Nederland was trots op Jos. Toen kwam Max. Hij heeft de Nederlanders trots gegeven. En ik hoop dat hij nog jaren doorgaat en vele successen beleeft. I am Dutch and therefore not entirely objective. But never expected that a Dutchman would ever win an f1 race. With Jos Verstappen that came close, but unfortunately not quite. But the Netherlands was proud of Jos. Then came Max. He has given the Dutch pride. And I hope he continues for years to come and enjoy many successes.
Nothing questionable about Massi's decision, all the teams decided at the beginning of the season to do everything possible, not to finish a race behind a safety car, then he got vilified, mainly by Merc & the British media 😡 The only questionable decision, was Hamilton leaving the door wide open into turn two. Years ago my husband watched Max in the rain in 2016 and stated right then and there that "Max is coming" and he DD and he is brilliant. He certainly is mature and polished and untouchable now and if he was Hamiltons partner years ago, would have won back then. Gotta have the car and when you do, the package is unbeatable. Russel proved that when he stood in for Hamilton when he was sick with Covid I think and he kicked a@@ and would have won if the team had not fked him with the wrong tires. So he proved ANYONE in the best car can win. I would like to see ALL drivers in the SAME car and let God sort them out hahahah. Would be fun. I dont feel that Hamilton earned his titles as he had the BEST and they hung Bottas too many times to count in favor of Hamilton. Bottas smiles so much now and really nice to see him enjoying his life now. He was miserable at MB being second fiddle and having to back down or loose a race in favor of Hamilton. Villeneuve has always been extremely critical of Verstappen and even now he cannot suppress the urge to put him down by claiming the car was tailored to Verstappen’s driving style which is, of course, complete nonsense.
And you are an expert, right? Hopefully you know the terms, understeer, oversteer, balance, trail breaking, late or early throtle responce. All these terms are car handling characteristics that can be developed into a car to suit a drivers preference. Clearly Red Bull did NO development to their car to improve it's charateristics or any preferences Max likes out of the race car. 🤣

The other drivers on the grid are good but in cars that are frankly mid field crap. Lewis was the star for Mercedes and he got 7 WC. Max is the star at RB and they are the dominate team with their car. And if RB have a dominant car this year, Max will win his 3rd WC. The car and team makes the most difference in this sport.

I've been watching F1 since the late eighties and there have been many contentious incidents over the decades, but that is up there as number one.

I think he knows the car mechanics better than most drivers and can relay that to others, on the team. Perez, Gasley, Riccardo,& Albon are all inconsistent. Of course the car is built for Max's driving style. You'd be an idiot not to 😅. We're gonna see Perez's best this year and dollars to doughnuts, he'll be way short

I think Max is just the most complete modern F1 driver there is. Michael Schumacher knew about Max Verstappen even before Max Verstappen was born. The kid is raised in F1. Not in motorsport, no in actual F1. The kid has more simulator experience then any other F1 driver out there and is one of the most experienced F1 drivers outside of the simulator on top of it already, while he's still only 26. Max his youth karting performances are out of this world. nobody even comes close near Max his youth performances. Max was the youngest karting world champion in the history of the sport, Lewis never made it to the top 10 and was a lot older and had a lot more attempts. When Max moved over to F3 he had a test trial day in a F3 car, Max broke the lap record of the track he was driving at. Can you imagine? This kid has never driven a F3 car before and the first thing he does is breaking the lap record on the track he's driving it. You're not gonna believe this, but the most amazing thing about it I haven't even said yet. Max did it, on old tires... I mean, even if you make a random movie this would be like, yea, this doesn't make any sense, we are not even putting it in the film. But that's what actually happened.
Max always says: 80% car, 20% driver. Aston Martin and Mercedes are closing in slowly. Even for RBR it will not be easy to keep their 0.5sec lead over these teams till 2026.
What if Max will do what most other champs have done. Suppose McLaren produces a car that is superior to the RB. Don't you think every team would like to have Max in their team? He just have to make a switch and go on collecting titles.
2022 WC is no measure of greatness of a driver but more a measure of who got the new regulations right. Redbull was definitely not going to develop the car more to suit Perez's driving style. Max is their number one driver and that is not going to change. Like Lewis at Mercedes. I hope there will be more competition this year because watching a F1 race where the overtaking is only done in the DRS zones is boring as watching grass grow. Only time I can think F1 was exciting was in the 1980's, 90's and early 2000's. Thank god for 2021 season when two drivers battled neck and neck for the championship. I hope we see that this year.

We can talk about all things that happened in that season costing points to lh or mv and the decision that Massi took , but why did lh not pit for new tires? Lh was way faster that day then mv. Mercedes knew if lh would not pit for tires, mv would for sure. Ok mv in the lead and lh with new tires trying to overtake him, would be difficult as for mv a crash taking both out would be ok, but the clear pace superiority of Lh during that race ,should have made it simple. You go first I’ll overtake you . Mercedes and Lh , just dropped the ball.
All LH had to do was keep MV behind for one lap in a car that was a second a lap faster, he couldn't do it, I guarantee Max would have held him off if the roles were reversed! Massi should be congratulated for not allowing the safety car to decide a World Championship, not vilified !

i think 2021 was one of his hardest seasons and if he wasnt as good as he was LH would have won and what was added after that is, less pressure of winning, less pressure from the competition, more experience. between 2017 and 2020 LH was an absolute machine but now max is even better. hes probably the best driver that ever existed. absolute perfection only so little mistakes. Senna was fast, Schumacher was much better than many drivers before. LH did an amazing job between 2017 and 2020. Fangio was an engine whisperer on top of his car. Verstappen is probably all of these drivers combined, he is fast as senna, much better than many drivers before, an aboslute machine like LH Was and on top of his car like fangio was. he plays with the competition just doing whats needed to win nothing more. He will be winning the triple crown one day like only Graham Hill did
I can remember going to Genk to watch him karting. as a huge Jos verstappen fan I was hoping the son would do better, following F1 since 1973 with little Dutch success... Look where we are now, I always thought that when he'd start winning it may become boring, it's going that way... Still super proud but also hoping that he has to fight a little bit harder for future wins lol!

He has the most karting titles with less years on the entire F1 grid and could even skip F2.
In the rain he is was 2-3 seconds faster per lap than anyone on grid with a way less car. Brazil 16 F1, but also F3 Norisring.
Just look at 2022 Suzuka. He gapped the whole field in 26 laps by 23 seconds, and I bet he wasn’t going all out.

As a Dutchie, I was not a fan of how Abu Dhabi 2021 panned out. But hey, if the ref makes a misstake, what are you going to do? Not score the goal? After that, the man became a machine. No misstakes. The referee did not make a mistake, he decided as all teams agreed at the beginning of the season, that the race should not be finished behind a safety car, he should be applauded for that not vilified !
Hamilton was in a car which was quicker by a second a lap, he left the door wide open for the 2nd corner like an amateur !
I can guarantee, if the roles were reversed Max would have held him off and won.

@@jackdominiak445 It's still a mistake. Teams agreed that ideally, races should end under green flag conditions. That doesn't mean that they should apply rules incorrectly to achieve that. Bringing in the safety car a lap earlier than the rules stated was fine, as there were other rules that could have allowed for that. But unlapping only some cars was a mistake. That doesn't mean you can't like the ending. As the OP stated, people make mistakes. It wasn't foul play, but it was a mistake.
And of course Hamilton left the door open in the 5th (not 2nd) corner. Defending there would have been pointless. Verstappen made that lunge from a long way back. If Hamilton defends, Verstappen simply takes the corner normally. Hamilton would end up compromising his exit, and Verstappen would get a perfect exit, and sail past Hamilton on the straight. Hamilton did what he could with the tyres he had. Same for Verstappen.
Cars cant be build for one specific driver. It can be set up for one driver sure. But the driver has to put in good info to the mechanics. And Max is also very good at that. Daniel Ric is known to be a weak setup manager
Also all teams will do their best to make the car fitted for their driver. Only people who have a hard time accepting that their favorite driver stands no chance, try anything to make it seem like is unfair or something, must be due to something else haha.. omg

Ik ben Nederlander en dus niet geheel objectief. Maar had nooit verwacht dat een Nederlander ooit een een f1 race zou winnen. Met Jos verstappen kwam dat in de buurt, maar helaas net niet. Maar Nederland was trots op Jos. Toen kwam Max. Hij heeft de Nederlanders trots gegeven. En ik hoop dat hij nog jaren doorgaat en vele successen beleeft.
I am Dutch and therefore not entirely objective. But never expected that a Dutchman would ever win an f1 race. With Jos Verstappen that came close, but unfortunately not quite. But the Netherlands was proud of Jos. Then came Max. He has given the Dutch pride. And I hope he continues for years to come and enjoy many successes.

Years ago my husband watched Max in the rain in 2016 and stated right then and there that "Max is coming" and he DD and he is brilliant. He certainly is mature and polished and untouchable now and if he was Hamiltons partner years ago, would have won back then. Gotta have the car and when you do, the package is unbeatable. Russel proved that when he stood in for Hamilton when he was sick with Covid I think and he kicked a@@ and would have won if the team had not fked him with the wrong tires. So he proved ANYONE in the best car can win. I would like to see ALL drivers in the SAME car and let God sort them out hahahah. Would be fun. I dont feel that Hamilton earned his titles as he had the BEST and they hung Bottas too many times to count in favor of Hamilton. Bottas smiles so much now and really nice to see him enjoying his life now. He was miserable at MB being second fiddle and having to back down or loose a race in favor of Hamilton. And you are an expert, right? Hopefully you know the terms, understeer, oversteer, balance, trail breaking, late or early throtle responce. All these terms are car handling characteristics that can be developed into a car to suit a drivers preference. Clearly Red Bull did NO development to their car to improve it's charateristics or any preferences Max likes out of the race car. 🤣

The other drivers on the grid are good but in cars that are frankly mid field crap. Lewis was the star for Mercedes and he got 7 WC. Max is the star at RB and they are the dominate team with their car. And if RB have a dominant car this year, Max will win his 3rd WC. The car and team makes the most difference in this sport.

I've been watching F1 since the late eighties and there have been many contentious incidents over the decades, but that is up there as number one.

I think he knows the car mechanics better than most drivers and can relay that to others, on the team. Perez, Gasley, Riccardo,& Albon are all inconsistent. 2022 WC is no measure of greatness of a driver but more a measure of who got the new regulations right. Redbull was definitely not going to develop the car more to suit Perez's driving style. Max is their number one driver and that is not going to change. Like Lewis at Mercedes. I hope there will be more competition this year because watching a F1 race where the overtaking is only done in the DRS zones is boring as watching grass grow. Only time I can think F1 was exciting was in the 1980's, 90's and early 2000's. Thank god for 2021 season when two drivers battled neck and neck for the championship. I hope we see that this year.
