I couldn’t decide so I got both. What I found is that the leather case somehow feels slimmer (it is actually slimmer but only 0.X mm difference). I also prefer the way leather feels in the hand vs silicone. So I’m liking the leather case a little bit more.
I have used both apple cases in my previous iPhones and decided to stay on the leather case. The apple leather case is very nice on the case as well as the buttons which are very important to iPhone cases. The silicone case has good hand feelings but is also correcting dust easily. Thanks for the comparisons!
Here’s what I’ve noticed while rockin’ the Saddle Brown Apple leather case on multiple iPhones. The ones for iPhone XS Max and 11 Pro Max aged beautifully over time. The leather used for the cases for iPhone 12 and beyond… not quite as well. The leather itself is much, much thinner and never developed a proper patina. Also, the I’ve noticed a general structural weakness in the original batch for iPhone 12 family, somewhat rectified in the Spring-Summer collection.
I used to be strictly silicone, but last year didn’t like the colors, so went with leather, and now a fan, so went with Ink leather and Deep Purple this year, and a Wisteria wallet. 💜
I purchased a leather case for my 13 mini a few months ago. It ages well and gets more grippy over the time. But talking about wear and tear: The leather tends to show heavy (!) dents after some drops that might not happen if it would be more grippy like the silicone case is… 😅
My iPhone 7 Plus leather case has served me well for 5 years. It has gone through all sorts of patches. The leather has worn out over the years, in one of the corners, it has peeled off completely revealing the plastic frame. That has now snapped off and my phone has suffered lots of scuff in that one corner. It only took one drop into that corner to smash my screen. Oh well, time to move onto the 14 Pro I guess and I will definitely be getting the leather case again.
I prefer the clear case. It’s so well made. Leather case was good before 12 series. Since then it’s worn out very badly. I have 2 leather cases for my 12 pro max. They have several torn places
The dust that get under my clear case drives me nuts. I dunno if it’s the bottom cutout but it doesn’t happen with any of my other clear cases (they just turn yellow lol).
Quite dissapointed in the quality of the silccone case considering the cost. $70 (plus taxes) in Canada and it lasted less than 6 months before I had both top corners peeling off on my iPhone 13 Pro. Luckily it's covered under a 1 year warranty and is being replaced by Apple. I asked if I could just pay the difference and get the leather case instead but Apple says no can do. I would need to spend another $80 (plus taxes) if I want the leather one. So my take away from this is just get the leather case over the silicone ones as it should be more durable.
wow.. excellent very detailed review. you have covered all the points in this video.. I used both of them and what you are saying is absolutely match my experience.
Too funny. I got a 13 Pro about six months ago and didn’t hesitate to get the silicon case for the exact “grippy” reasons you cite and it does feel “just right” in my hands. My wife has a rigid plastic case (also Apple’s and more protective) on her 13 Pro and I significantly dislike it as I feel like i’m going to drop it every time I pick it up. However, as you say, the silicon case is only six months old and it already has scuffs and chips on the corners.
I’ve had my leather 14 Pro case for like 2 weeks and the FIRST drop I had on a wooden floor the leather teared and now I have a big hole in the top of my case. These cases are nice but there are cheaper alternatives people
leather develops patina and the sides turns to black color overtime and if left unsued and stored, it will develop molds while silicone chips away overtime and the sides tends develop and shiny texture overtime
almost bought the magsafe. but first i watched your video on ‘magsafe charger, don’t buy it’ and then watched this. i don’t want a darker circle on my midnight black leather case for the 14pro
I have black leather case on my Pro Max 12 since they started to sell Pro Max 12 and it's still looking almost like new so I'm definitely going to buy new leather case when I feel that I need to update t newer iPhone.
just got a silicone case and dropped it on the pavement - iphone 14 pro survived unscathed but large chunk of silicone came off the corner revealing the plastic. needed to replace.
I remember getting my first Apple silicone case and I was so happy with it for my iPhone 6 back then but when I got the iPhone 7 and the silicone case for it I was shocked because of how much dust it collects, anyone else or have you noticed that aswell?
I always buy the case first, before I purchase a new iPhone. Once, I cracked my iPhone when I first opened it up and dropped it…now, I know better ! I just purchased the brown leather case and matching wallet for my new gold iPhone 14 Pro Max, it’s totally tubular ! 👍
I'm not just talking about these cases but it is amazing how little you have to add to make the Bulk seem a lot worse. I forgot what model a phone it was but it was as big as the wireless house phones used to be. Everyone referred to it as the Breck and that is what the iPhone feels like if you use the wrong case.
Nice review. Very informative and useful. Re: buttons. I owned a OnePlus One for 8 years and I think I've used the side volume buttons only a few times. Of course, I used the power button much more. But the feel of the buttons through the case is a total non-issue for me.
I’ve had both a one more thing about the silicone is it tended to stretch out a bit. So my phone did move around some. I like the leather more. But if you don’t like how it ages, the lighter colors show more. At first I thought it was dirty. 🤪 I’m going to try out the darker leather ones this time.
What do you think of this year's covers ? One big disappointment for me. All the joy of a new phone is gone whether I take FineWoven which in a couple of days looks like it looks, as well as silicone which after pulling out of my pocket looks like when I put my 5 year old phone on the table, actually maybe even older. I say to myself yes it is just a protective case, yet at least for a moment I would like to feel that I have gone to a new flag and the phone and the case looks accordingly ..
Yes it wears but that’s the point if not that “wear” would be on your phone, silicone is the best feel and grip imo and love the bright and vibrant colors 😊

Leather for me..silicon has extra grip which is a plus but silicon feels sticky which is kinda annoying sometimes..i like the smoothness of the leather..
I have picked the Apple silicone case for my iPhone, every time I have it in my pants pocket (different pants/jeans) it always gets super dusty because of the fabric of my pocket. Did someone else experience this? Is it maybe different with the leather one?
i have the ink iphone 14 pro leather case since mid-september and i have to ask, does anyone else think it feels “sticky” in hand? i HATE feeling dirty/sticky and my old iphone X apple leather case did not have this problem when cleaned lol
I never had any magsafe ring through out my 1 year with 13 pro max. So weird that people having it. I get home, put it on magsafe and charge overnight for all year everyday. Even now with my 14 pro max new black leather case, i don’t see anything also.
Unfortunately it would be neither for me. I’ve had a silicone case from Apple in the past, and just like you said, it will peel or chip over time. The leather case on the other hand is where its at…just not the one from Apple. I’ve owned several leather cases from Apple in the past, and I thought it couldn’t get better than that, boy was I wrong. I had a product red leather case that took some abuse, and after one nice tumble, I saw the dreaded black plastic 😮. That had me questioning the quality from there. After researching, it was determined that Apple uses a thin piece of “genuine leather” on the case. Refusing to pay what was at the time $50, I found a couple of manufacturers that produce full grain leather cases, which is the best piece you can get.
@@JerrySchulze actually no, there is one manufacturer that doesn’t. But most do, but my point is at least they offer full grain leather, so in reality you’re getting better quality for a less money.
Please skip the apple hard clear case, because pf that clear case which is a hard case. when my iphone 14 pro max dropped from the 6 ft height from my hand on the floor which fitted with tiles in a shopping mall, the back glass was shattered, so, I prefer the Silicon case which might atleast decrease the impact and my glass back might not get shatte
i don't know why but for me is better the leather case for grip. i've changed my silicone case with a leather case and i saw the difference from the first time
I’ve bought durk purple silicone case from apple and i’m really regret to be bought :/ it holds bloody dust , i’m a carpenter so turned back to leather case which is much more better for me

Should weigh the cases on a scale to see which one is more heavier
What about the screen protection bump
My leather one is getting very scuffed! 🤨

Rocking my Umber leather case now. Leather cases are so much more fancy and prime.

Silicone case provides full protection compared to leather as leather cases remain half covered from the sides

The silicone case keeps moving and turns the mute button on multiple times..
Weird! The case has a plastic skeleton and I have not seen that before.

Does the silicone or leather have a better grip to it? I have 14pm, you would think the silicone would be a bit slippery no?
I have the 13 pm, the silicone gets grippy after a few days of use. It is slippery at first.
