Thanks for your comment, i enjoyed filming boness, but the big draw for me was a pizza from the barracuda chip shop, just down from the fire station yum. Cheers g.
@indeyrixhe Aye I know what ye mean. I have lived in Boness for the last nearly 20 years. I am originally from Fife .I've never felt at home in Boness . The people are pleasant/ friendly enough but don't want to make friends ( if that makes sense ), especially if you're considered an outsider . In my experience the Fifers ( including myself ) are far more cheery and open to friendship I've found . The town of Bo'ness itself though is an under rated and under appreciated lovely wee town and the art deco buildings are historic and beautiful . I love Art deco .It should be promoted more as a tourist attraction. Quite a few films including British films, TV shows and Hollywood films have been filmed around Bo'ness as a filming location in recent years , including the historic railway and station . So obviously the film industry have noticed it's potential.
You are wrong. This is a Treat. I long to visit Bo'ness in time for late breakfast, after watching your film. Magnificent buildings, lovely views of the Firth of Forth. Wonderful architecture. Mysterious on this darkish day. A hidden treasure.
Glad to hear it, there is a cracking pizza take away up the hill, the barracuda, well worth a visit. Boness is a nice enough wee place, but not too far from falkirk or edinburgh.,cheers g.
@@thewanderingkilt4698 I’ve cycled from Blackness to Bo’ness along the shore. There’s lots to see at the docks. Some old cranes that I used to repair and a big disused square harbour. I wonder if that white building was once a cinema. It looks like the Maybury Casino. As you say Art Deco. Lots of them still in Glasgow. I photographed a few of them a while back.
@@colinsimpson8822 thanks colin, im glad you liked it. I sometimes forget that whats just along the road for me is thousands of miles away for others, cheers g.
i live in Bo’Ness, i go to Taekwondo in GrangeMouth on Thursdays and town hall on Saturdays and Tuesdays i currently go to Deanburn 🎉and yeah i think Bo’ness is the best because its s little town.
I was in Bo'ness recently and was also struck by the number and quality of Art Deco buildings. However, you have missed out a lot by sticking to the town centre. Travel up the hill and some of the houses are stunning.
@fionaramsay9157 unfortunately I have found that people tend not to watch more than 10 minutes so I try to get as much in as I can, to give a flavour of the area. Thanks for your comment, cheers g
Keep hoping to see Stewart Avenue on one of these videos, but then I'm biased- went to the Public School, lived in Ochil Tower for my first 20 years (family home from 1930-79) and used to run up and down the School Brae without noticing it. Lots of interesting buildings, lots of happy, happy memories. Not sure I'd cope with coming back now- too many ghosts..
In all the years I’ve worked in Bo’ness, I’ve never had a fish tea in the Corvies. I always went to the one up at the football grounds. The large building at 04.30 ish, was the Star cinema… I think it became a repair shop. Someone lives at the top of the building still… I work at the heritage railway on the foreshore. We just this weekend started running steam hauled trains for the tourists etc… come and have a trip.
Same i was brought up in Boness and never had anything out of Rosie Corvies either - people in Bo"ness have long memories - i seem to remember my mum talking about how there used to always be a cat on the counter during the war - as i say very long memories and very unforgiving - think the few times we had chips they were out the one your talking about - I remember an old lady called Aggie Rothney had a small chippy out towards Bridgeness and she used to buy your greenshield stamps and Embassy cigarette coupons form you
Loved the video. I grew up here, went to Grange School, then Bo’ness Academy. I have been in the USA for 40 years, but Bo’ness is home.

I truly loved it. I am considering moving to Bo'ness in the spring. It's between Bo'ness and Inverkeithing, so this was a great assist. Thank you.
I would probably pick boness too, cheers,g
Did you move? I am looking at moving next summer too. I want to find out what is it like for teenage boys.

5:22 The building was called the coffin block because people thought the doorway was shaped like a coffin
I can see why, cheers
Great film George. The town has lots of character.
For a small town there is plenty to see

Nice to see - you stopped right at my old front door (the coffinblock)
We aim to please 😆
Last time I was in Bo'ness about 20 years ago I had a roll and sausage, it was cosmic, never forgot it
Thanks for the comment William, the food in Bo'ness is fab, its a nice wee place to spend a couple of hours. Cheers g

We had a coffee in corvies but must try the chips, the Barracuda along the road does amazing 🍕
@@thewanderingkilt4698 did you not go to the railway, or was it closed when you were there?
Sadly it was closed as there's nothing better to film than a steam train or two. Maybe try again later this year, cheers g.
