My daughter cooked at that Kilwins. That’s her with a coworker on the bag of Carmel corn. In every Kilwin store across the country. So glad you were able to visit.

We were in Mackinac last year about this time. It's a long drive from Gatlinburg. We drove around to Petoskey and a few other small towns. We stayed at a KOA in St Ignace. We toured the UP a few days. Of course we had to take the ferry ride to Mackinac Island. Rented bikes (my wife and I rented a tandem) and rode the trail. Bought some fudge and tshirts. Everything up there was beautiful and cool for July.
I think Kilwins are in Florida tourist areas too, $400 chocolate is a crazy price unless it comes with the candy mold

Good thing you stayed there. Me and my hubby stayed at the Beachcomber motel in Machinaw City and the bed was hard as a rock.
Here's a tip for people who are too afraid to drive across the bridge. You can have someone from the bridge authority drive you across for a fee ($10 + cost of tolls).
fudge is so good, we got ours at Ryba's on the island, $11. a slice! we stayed at the Bavarian Haus in St. Ignace in the UP, i love the entire area. we did the tour of the fort there. and the pasties are a must, so good!

Will and Dawn we just missed you guys. We were in Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island 12th to the 16th. Beautiful area.

Staying on the island is worth the price. It is so peaceful after the daytrippers leave. We always go after Labor Day to avoid crowds and the higher prices. I've never been able to afford The Grand, but the Chippewa Hotel is right on the harbor and the balcony suites are fabulous. I prefer being waterside to being up on the hill at The Grand. We usually use the Star Line out of St. Ignace so we can cross the bridge. We're going back this year for the first time since the pandemic began. Before that, we went every year. I've missed it so much. As soon as you step on the island, it's like a weight lifts off your shoulders. This year we're going to try Clyde's Drive In in St. Ignace for the first time. The only recommendation I have for dining in Mac City is Darrow's. The pies! OMG. If you run into Archie Horn, the porter, say hi for us. He's kind of famous for his knack of stacking so many pieces of luggage on his bike.

Been there 5-6 times, and it never gets old. we also stayed at the grand hotel and the rooms are kinda neat, something out of an old movie. i hope you're gonna do the lunch buffet at the grand hotel!? its amazing! expensive but a bucket list event! can't wait to see your experience there!
Will and Dawn I vist the island in the 73 and 74 when you had to go over by ferry boat and thier was very little commercial buildings and you travel by bikes or walk

Nice adventure! You guys should check out Duluth, MN! That’s where my husband and I got married last year! Duluth is so pretty, right next to Lake Superior! So many big ships going in and out of the canal too!

I'm so glad you are doing these videos in Michigan. We live in Ohio but go to Mackinac Island every year. Just went in June and going again in October. Definitely Gatlinburg and Mackinac Island are our happy places! We go to Gatlinburg every year too. :)
For anyone who would like a cheaper hotel on the island I would recommend The Murray Hotel. We stayed there once because I waited too late to book at our usual place. It was fine if you spend most of your time out of the room plus they have a nice little hot tub on the roof.
This video is FANTASTIC! Much better than the Smoky Mountains, which we've seen all our lives a million times. I learned a lot, and it was beautiful! Thanks!

You would have to go a couple of times a month and try few different candies. It would take a long time to do that. It all looked so good!! But, ya'll didn't even get any fudge??!!

Ever get the chance when in the upper peninsula my friend owns a beautiful cozy resort called trout lake resort. It’s close to Saint Ignace and the falls. Might give is a visit

Will, I believe that Grand Hotel was built in 93 days. It's amazing that they could build it that fast in the 1880's.

Love the island but if I’m being honest the Grand Hotel was way overpriced, I actually like staying in St Ignace just over the bridge. Money goes further lol haha

excited. However, it doesn't have front and side cameras like my current Rogue Platinum. Do you find it difficult to park between two cars because of the way the fenders extend from the car, or did you get used to it? Anything else I should know about a Jeep before I get it? Thanks much! My yellow Jeep is a basic Streep down we don't have any problems with parking it

Kilwins chocolate factory was great, and loved the Lucy episode you mentioned, it’s one of my favorites! Mackinaw City gives beautiful old town vibes . The bridge, beach and island reminds me of the south fork of LI . You always show really nice places to visit R&R mixed with history. Always a good adventure. Looking forward to next video 👍

Lol. We stayed at that same inn 12 years ago and in that exact room. Of course when we stayed it had 2 queen beds. The breakfast was good. The pool was nice. The view was great. Thanks for taking us down memory lane. We miss being in Michigan. We are Ohioans now.

That chocolate and fudge looked so good. I have never heard of that kind of chocolate before. We do not have it in my area. It would take me from 1 Easter to the next for me to eat that 22 lb chocolate bunny. You are right it reminded me of the Luch episode.

Love that Town been to the Island. Mom N pop restaurants are the best. Popcorn store was great popcorn stayed fresh for a long time.
Kilwin’s actually has no sugar added ice cream!!! Many places don’t

I think the Kilwins red dots of their other locations is inaccurate because that top dot in Florida must be ours, which is in The Villages, Florida. Btw, my fam is from Petoskey so it was nice seeing it again.
