Just speaking about my father made me realize how much he influenced my life. I only wish I had the chance to tell him that I loved him and what a great father he was.

I remember being 4 years old and crushing up my mom's pack of cigarettes because I didn't want her to smoke anymore. She didn't quit until she was forced to by her doctor and thank GOD...

Jennifer Strong Same here. My mom started smoking at only 8 YEARS OLD!!! I have a 9 year old. It sounds insane! She stopped and started again over the years and is all good now at 65 as far as not smoking, but she is showing big time signs of early demensia. (Not sure if it could be related, but..) and she also had part of her kawbone removed. My brother smokes like a trucker, and I had tons of secondhand smoke as a kid, though I never smoked myself. Then more second hand smoke as an adult. Thank God my husband now does not smoke, but I used to get phlem just being around smokers. It was gross. I always pray it doesn't affect me because I only tried a cigarette once and that was it. I'm very anti-smoking, and like you did the same stuff to my mom, but I just got in trouble for it. She didn't see me as trying to help her, just costing her $$. It's awful. Just lost my uncle over stupid ciggys. These commercials are necessary. I wish they would have scared people straight DECADES AGO!!! These definitely help save lives.

After seeing my dad and my aunt laying in hospital beds it taught me one thing, take care of yourself. Dad wound up with three blockages in his heart from years of smoking and died from a closed head injury unrelated to smoking. My aunt was a chain smoker and eventually died from lung cancer. Now my brother is starting in on it. Cigarettes, cigars, snuff, tobacco is just plain dangerous whether smoked or chewed.

I'm so grateful that my mother quit smoking before it had the chance to take her over with some sort of serious illness. She's been smoke free for 2, going on 3 years. I'm proud of you mom.

Smoking is the most ridiculous slow motion suicidal habit in the world.

Totally agree. It is dirty and nasty when your a young 21 year old. But if your still smoking at 51 you are probably living on borrowed time. If smoking made your outside look like it makes your inside look there would be a lot fewer smokers. Some people just don't get it.

Malika Chatoo... If you are worried about your future if something happens to him, then there are different solutions like you can start working, you can marry again. Etc... Actually you should be worried about him, his health, his time with you and your kids that kind of worriedness makes your love precious to him (also makes you mature and genuine person) probably if he get to know that kind of love you have for him.. He may quit smoking....please change the way think.
