This is fascinating for me. I don't remember the valley before it was flooded at all but walk there every day with my dogs. It's the most beautiful place in the world for me. Would absolutely love to see pre Fernilee as well. Please post it if you can :)
Hi I was there this afternoon looking round what remains of the hall; I don't suppose you know if any photographs exist of what the hall looked like on the inside do you?
It's October 2015 and I've just added the cine film taken at the same time of the inauguration ceremony at Fernilee Reservoir. Both films on my website at www.goyt-valley.org.uk (which I'm currently redesigning).
FAN-TASTIC! I'm thrilled to see this. How on earth did you find it? I'm born and raised in Fernilee ( Shallcross) and all of the Goyt Valley was our playground. I now lead walks around it. Indeed will be using one of your walks - Burbage one - for next week.
Hi Chris. I'm afraid I'm sworn to secrecy on how I came across the film! There's another film taken at the same time on the opening of Fernilee. I keep meaning to post it. I also want to create a YT clip matching the GV valley film with some of the old photos and maps of Goyt Bridge. One day I'll find the time...
Some brilliant footage here David of a fantastic location, thanks for sharing sir, all the best, Paul
Thank You ,known the Valley since the early sixties and this is the first film I have seen. Very good too.

Lovely - thanks for sharing. I think I know where the gate is, I'll get back to you with a grid reference.
John Harding Thanks John. Any help would be much appreciated. David

I just remembered - the web address is on the caption to the clip. Just click 'Show more' under the caption and you should find it.
