I think so, but the book of the skull is an old resource that used relics. Even though it says "equip," it doesn't really use the modern equipment rules.
Just some questions about equipment in general since I dropped out of heroclix around the book of the skull event. Equipment is just anything that isn't a standard object that could attach to characters? So like the infinity gauntlet, batman utility belt, and say the cosmic cube? So now I could just have my cosmic cube automatically on my piece instead of picking it up? And what about the ability that makes you drop it if you roll a certain number on a d6? Does the character still drop it and someone else can roll to pick it up at that point? Also colossal pieces can't have equipment attached to them? So no gauntlet or cube at the start of game but if someone drops the cube they can try to pick it up? I thought you could just pay the cost of the gauntlet or utility belt and they could go on anything? Or was that a later change to the rules? Also had a question about vehicles. I remember hearing that the bug was a really powerful piece but couldn't figure out how that really worked? Kinda dropped out and never looked into vehicles. Some friends wanted to start playing again so I was gonna dust off some of my old pieces.
Good questions, let me put it this way, I think what you're talking about are relics and resources that still work the same as they did because they are outdated and do not have new rules. Relics had to be put out on the map, and you had to take a power action and roll a d6 and get whatever roll is required to pick it up and use its effects. Resources used to be assigned at the beginning of the game to someone like the new rules for equipment let you do. Equipment objects started coming out with the mighty thor set so everything from then on is equipment and you can now just pay their points to equip them to any standard chracter at the beginning of the game. The newest equipment now have keywords or names listed on them and those characters can have them equipped for free. I hope that helps clear things up for you. As for vehicles, the bug was great like 10 years ago, and was used on several competitive teams. But it's not modern age, or even silver age, so it's not really playable outside of golden age events which are really just for local games and home games. I have a video explaining how to use vehicles but there's only a couple still usable in modern for I little while longer and not many even in silver age. They are mostly just fun things to use sometimes.
@Heroclix Headquarters thanks for the reply! Okay yeah the cube was a relic so it still works like it used to then? Gotcha. Are you only able to have 1 resource like you can't have an infinity gauntlet AND the batman utility belt? Or is it just whatever your points allow? Also assuming you can have more than 1 thing like the gauntlet they definitely can't be put on the same character? Also yeah I remember hearing the bug was pretty nasty something like it can take a bunch of punishment for its point value and can click like other dials instead of its main dial for damage or something? Just wanted to pick one up to have a vehicle since I never had any vehicles back then. Also carrying up to 6 pieces? Sounds really nice to me. We aren't really doing any tournament stuff so it would just be casual play since there isn't really a standard scene so we are just picking up random pieces to just sit down and play. Tbh I really wanted to get a bunch of yugioh pieces since I also play a little yugioh every now and again. Also saw they had a millennium tablet with the items so I was gonna try picking up some of those extra pieces I was missing.
@Carter Romanofsky with resources, I believe it was one per force, with equipment it's pretty much 1 per character that can equip it. But yeah, I don't think you can double up on those, like you could have one or the other on a character, but I could be wrong. Lots of old rules and new rules changes and stuff I'd have to look through that I can't at the moment, lol. But yeah man, have fun with it, the yugioh stuff was a lot of fun, I have all of them because I was big into yugioh before too so I'd recommend trying to get some.
@Heroclix Headquarters yeah absolutely gonna be looking in to picking some up. Exodia and slifer are high up there but so expensive haha the slifer looks amazing though. Also I really want to grab the resources as well just to have them. Book of the skull was exceptionally fun since you could drop the hammers all over the map and everyone can fight for them lol each of those old resources had some fun interactions. Gotta look at picking up one of my favorite yugioh cards though for sure, dark magician girl. Make like a magician team. Also one last thing I forgot. So with vehicles I've read somewhere that vehicles stay on the map after being destroyed and can be picked up like a super heavy object but then others have said that they just get replaced with a standard heavy object on the vehicle being destroyed? Which one is true?
the old relics like Doc Ock arms, eye of agamotto etc. they are relics that would take a d-6 roll to equip. Would they fall under these object rules? As in you can pay their cost, and just have them assigned to a standard character on your force?
In our group we have a houserule that all the old Special objects and relics function just like the new Equipment does. Makes the game so much more fun and smooth.
Please note that the rules text you’re quoting in the beginning of the video isn’t the latest one that was released. The latest version that came out with the release of Batman, does not include text that equipment cannot be on your sideline.
Thanks for pointing that out, I recorded this a little while ago but I imagine that they removed that because of mad Jim jaspers and other effects that do specifically put equipment on the sideline.
Yes, that still works. Characters that have the old style of traits that say "this character can start the game equipped with X" do not count towards the equipment you pay for being unique.
What about the FuFO items, does the time platform become free for all Dr Dooms now? Does the ultimate nullifier become free for Reed now? What about the rest of FuFos items?
Equipment are unique. If you are assigning them to characters you can only have one. However I believe the sword bearer trait says "this character can start the game equipped with any sword object" which would get around the unique limits.
Love the rule of starting with equipment. But couple of questions. What about character like Red Goblin who can start with two different objects for 110 point? Can he start with both still cause his card says he can? I will have to look at weapons to look at what they say but on Captain Carter's card says she can start with her shield. Would she still be paying the 5 points or will it be free now? I'm using her for example.
@@HeroclixHeadquarters Couple more questions: Red Goblin still gets his two objects cause it is stated on his card? And I saw something about size. Can a character that has tiny symbol or giant symbol on their card start with object now? Always wanted to put that tiny frog Mjolnir in Frog Thor's hand.
@@SlashTheWeasel yes, any trait a character had to start equipped can still be used exactly how it used to. As for giants, colossas, tiny size, and other non standard characters, they can't have equipment assigned to them to start equipped with but they can equip an object during the game if one gets dropped by someone.
You can still only assign equipment to standard characters to start with but now if a non standard character becomes equipped during the game they can use its effect.
@@Bourotte25 It says they can't be assigned to characters on the sideline, which is totally different than having them take up a game element slot on your sideline.
@@roryzaugg8351 No , it specifically says that you cannot add equipment to your sideline. I was wrong about MJJ though , as it turns out , it's been Errata'd to circumvent that very same rule .
Actually I think he got worse, you can only choose to use someones trait to start equipped or equip them with 1 object, and you can't put objects out on the map anymore so you can't have him pick up more, and even if the rest of your team is equipped you'll have to wait till they get koed to go pick up their gems since there's not really a way for them to equip something else and drop it. Although you could have them swap out at the start of the game with like professor x or something to drop all the gems in your starting area. I guess that could work pretty well but otherwise I think it's harder to make him work.
Question; Galactus power action to equip (The Angler) EQUIP: Any. UNEQUIP: Drop. Top five of all avengers? That's a tall order lol. I've done top 5s for most of them but to include the entire keyword is a lot to think about. I will have to think about that, thanks for the suggestion!
Hi HeroClix headquarters I was wondering if you could possibly make a video about how to trade HeroClix online apparently people trade on Facebook and I got on Facebook and try to do it and I just not quite sure how to do it or if you could just maybe message me about it if you don't want to make a video about it? Either way thank you for your videos they're awesome and very informative
Hey, that's not a bad idea, I might make a video about that sometime. Till then, all you really need to know is the biggest groups are heroclix trade only and heroclix international trading and Selling section, there are a lot more but I'd start there. Also the heroclix trade feedback group is important so you can see if who your dealing with has already done several successful trades, or if they're not someone you want to deal with. Also make sure to leave feedback there as well (I am bad at remembering that step lol) but yeah otherwise one of the best ways to make sure a trade is fair is to use the average of the last few sold on ebay and make sure to do your best when packing and shipping, like use actual boxes and not a bubble mailer unless it's just a card. But yeah man, I think that's about it.
Once again you have made it easier for players to learn, understand or solve disputes! Excelsior!
This changes make sense, always wondering why characters bring up items, but they were on the floor of the map
Lol I know right it makes sense for like a scenario game where your fighting to get the object but otherwise not really
Thanks from Puerto Rico heroclix league
Love it. My play group has been playing this way for a few months already. It really helps the game move.
Same, we've been liking it a lot so far too
What about the Ego gem and the other Infinity gems?
You can only have a character start equipped with 1 object. That's why you also can't start the game with 125 points worth of objects on larfleeze :(
New Cable from Deadpool set.. are the first two equipment assigned to him free?
No, he would still have to pay for them unless he had one of the listed keywords on an equipment that let's you give it to him for free.
I have a little question
With Wheels of Vengeance, can 1x2 characters be assigned equipment?(in this case a Hellcycle for example)
Yep! They are still standard characters
