I Climbed Mount St. Helens - 4k

- I climbed to the summit of Mount St. Helens and it was one of the best hikes I have done. The views while climbing were fantastic and beautiful, even with the smoke in the air.
On September 11th, I and others climbed to the summit of Mount St. Helens, this was a challenging hike and one of the best ones I have completed. Mount St. Helens is an active stratovolcano which had its famous eruption in 1980 which the north face of the volcano collapsed in a large landslide before being blown out by the lateral blast. The volcano would erupt again in 1986 and in 2004-2008 which built lava domes within the crater.
It took us about 5 hours to climb to the top. The hike starts off on a dirt trail in the woods and eventually leads to the steep and rocky lava flow. The trail is marked by poles which stick out of the lava to help guide you along since part of the trail involves climbing over large boulders. The trail continues to be a mix of bolder climbing and walking along a pumice and gravel like path up the mountain. The last half of the climb up is mostly ashy/pumice slopes which can be a challenge.
I would recommend this hike to anyone who is capable of doing it. A permit will be required.
I hope you enjoy this video.
