  • With the help of my local metal yard I was able to build this traction Bar for a little less than $200. The bushings were sorted from eBay through a simple search for weld in bushings. And of course I used a plasma cutter to cut out all of the mounting plates

Not supposed to weld over brake clean! it can create a very toxic phosphene gas

That's why he used non chlorinated brake cleaner... it's not toxic when burned....

Nothing wrong with flux core mig wire, if you doubt me go watch some welding videos about it.

Its not the flux wire per se, its the fact that most ppl buy the 90 amp $80 welder that doesnt get hot enough for this stuff.

That's true, the duty cycle of those rigs is gonna be low maxed out they will need to stitch weld and it will take a long time.
I use a lot of flux wire .045 because it's windy here. I accidentally welded with it once with my gas still on in the building. Give that a try sometime and let me know what you think.

Great job Journeyman, this is a amazing little FC truck. I got a Sovier/Russian forward control truck UAZ 452, Soviet/Russian analogue of the Jeep/Willys FC.

I heard a story about a guy that bought a brand new Cadillac and had to take it back to the dealer for a rattle sound in the door. They took the door panel off and there was an empty pop can in the door. An assembly line worker must have put it in there. I guess he liked leaving Easter eggs too LOL.
