These guys are fantastic!!! They did a wonderful job inspecting an RV we wanted. Found SO MANY problems with the unit! They saved us from making a very costly mistake! Don’t buy without an inspection!!!
Thank you Paul and Coleen. Remember and do never forget, not all doctors are created equal 😉 Thanks again for your services 😊 It was a pleasure to save you from this money pit. I'm sad that someone else will actually end up with this. Hopefully it's not someone reading this 🤞
Pierre, you are so honest! I’m a full-time motor home RV owner; I’ve also built yachts, sailboats, tugboats, and ships. There’s ALWAYS a hit list to correct when delivering a unit. Very good advice, sir.
Right !? Always....people think it came from some fantasy land where everyone is working diligently to deliver the perfect RV....we're trying to wake up people of this dream the manufacturers portraits with these shiny and perfect RV Lifestyle catalogs and pamphlets. I'd even like to go through that picture perfect RV they used for their front cover...🧐
I recently discovered you guys from an endless RV video. Learning so much catching up on all your postings. This particular video was exactly us when we purchased our RV several years ago, but you also shed light on details we never even thought of; like fixing the pre-delivery, checklist versus warranty work and the bottom of the list. Needless to say we’re keeping our old RV and keeping up the repairs and whatever she needs as opposed to getting a new one. Keep up fantastic work-you two are needed now more than ever.
You guys are amazing. I'm a lifelong quality assurance inspector (not in RV biz) & been RVing for over 2 decades. I've been suffering from the curse of having a good eyeball & good Google search prowess but at least now people like me can know we're not crazy. Professionals such as yourself are being HONEST about the crap the RV industry puts out. Thank you!
Great video. We bought a used Tiffin Motorhome, salesman was our best friend and legitimately helpful during the purchasing process visits. Took care of all of our concerns and went above and beyond on the prep, yet never heard from our salesman after we picked up our used unit. Not even a thank you call or email. Bought from a major "general" RV dealership. Had a good experience, but made sure all issues were addressed before we drove off in our unit. Wouldn't consider buying another Motorhome without an NIVRA inspection.
That is the common problem in these day and age....no empathy after the fact. No follow up to become better at your skill or developing your product...for me, it screams " hey sucker, see you next time !
You help regular people interested in Rving realize what to expect and what to look for when buying a rv. And give them some perspective of what to expect after they buy it, or if they want to buy one knowing what they are getting into in the first place. Thanks.
You hit all the bullet points! We are going through almost everything you pointed out in another state. Such a nightmare. It should be a crime what some of these major RV Dealership do to customers.
This is all true!!!!! As a newbie RV owner, I'm thankful that we had Pierre and Laurel inspect it. We wouldn't have found any of the issues that we had before driving a way. Get an inspector...and if possible get Blue Ox On The Run!!!!
Just watched the video, we are looking at a 2024 Alliance 32RLS. We have spoken to an inspector and will be having him go over the unit when we decide which one we want. Also, I have heard the comment unbiased inspection from many people. Truth be told I hope the inspector is biased toward the client that hires them. Great video, lots of good info.
I have been going around this area the last few weekends looking at all the dealerships, and campers. They really didn't know I was testing the dealerships out themselves. I found 2 mom and pop dealerships that introduced us to the service people, took time to answer questions about their PDI and before walk throughs. They welcome inspections. The owners were on site working. Hey they both even had dogs playing with us. SO THEY ARE AT THE TOP OF OUR LIST. Now, when we do choose a champer from one of them, i will get an inspection and THAT will be the real real test. We will see how they treat the inspectors and I want them to have done the PDI before the inspection.
Bring it on Charmaine...like a Dog after a Bone we won't let you down! The only drive in this business should be defending the interest of a fellow RVer..!
A little secret, the best camping we ever did was in a $49 LL Bean tent years ago. No BS, no hassle, and great fun. We Americans too often have to recreate with top dollar elaborate products that turn into more anxiety.
Exactly 💯. And imagine, a home only has one source of electricity, RV has 3 sources (AC, batteries and generator), home has one source of water, RV has 2 sources....and it has wheels, suspension and some have an engine 😉....HELLO ! Somebody home ??? 🤣🤣
I love Both of you! Pierre, I used to wok with someone with similar outlook. I find that to be a good thing. Just because no one gets your sense of humor, doesn't mean you don't have it. I love the both of you. My wife and I are looking at selling our 22 Fleetwood Discovery 38W in a few months to reduce it to a 23 Coachman Galleria 24Q 4x4 Li3 Class B. You can bet that we will be asking you all to do the inspection before we sign!. We bought from General RV in Dover, FL and sales was great..BUT.. the dealer has had it more than us. We bought on black friday sale in 2022 and only taken 2 trips local in it. Found a lot of things for them to fix. While minor, they still took 2 MONTHS the first time, and it is still in the shop right now. They don't have the staff technicians to do it in a timely manner and they don't care if you wait...at all. Keep up the great work! Both of you. We hope to meet you soon for OUR inspection.
I'm sorry 😞 to hear about your experience...sadly it is a recurrent story amongst a lot of RVers...we just came out of an inspection now of an almost perfect RV. Leisure Van from Canada, beside being as close to perfect as you can have it...the " Life Safety " issue from the propane "shut off" switch wouldn't have been found through their typical " Probably Didn't Inspect" 😉 Thanks for understanding my sense of humor 🤣🤣 We will definitely love trying to find a Bone in that next unit of yours 😁 Signed...The RV Dog 🤣🤣
You're right on new units. I would be concerned about a year old rig for sale because it's mostly an owner bailing out because of the problems. In our FMCA club we have two members with "high quality" Buses. They sat down with all of us to compare notes of the pages of problems they had with their rigs. One had two items falling off their rig on the way home! The people behind them called the dealer via the name on the dealer plate on the back to ask they call the people in the red and white bus going down X they need to pull over and deal with the rear roof spoiler that is hanging off the back. One of the couples had to make a trip from the west coast to the factory - back east - because the problem could only be fixed at the factory. The future look bad for people wanted to move up because in five years only the inexperienced (without an inspector) will buy a 2019+ rig used. As for signing before you buy to get things fixed. You must list everything found that needs attention on the "due bill". That "due bill" is part of the sales contract. It's the only thing that allows recourse. If it's not on that "due bill" they will not do it. The first rig we bought was a 1996 class A and the dealer told us straight up they would make sure all the appliances work and the chassis was safe. Other than that, they will not fix the little things because it's an old rig and that's the way it is. Also, they don't have a service center so after we take delivery - there is no service. When we paid the deposit, the salesman asked us, "you know these things are a house on a truck and just like your house and truck things break - this will break more often because you are using it?" if we were not good with that, he would not sell us the rig! Well we started to do the paperwork and it came time to sign. I asked him "when do I take it for a test drive?". We never were offered a test drive! Yes, I did drive it before signing.
I love you guys...my wife and I are in the Dallas TX area and are currently seeking our 1st RV. we are looking at Class A's and Super C's. I wish you guys were local to do my inspection once we find one! Hint, hint...😄
Sad but you honestly find all the 💩 like that misaligned old tore up slide tip out. After you leave they (dealer) will beat that back into alignment with a rubber mallet till the customer signs and drives off. I would want a second through inspection from you and Pierre to make sure it was repaired throughout and correctly! Thanks for guys .
I'm going to have to be politically correct when I give you that list...a lot of inspectors are already not to happy about some of our comments 🙃 ...they thought you just had to check the boxes and collect your fees !!
Biggest mistake I made in buying my new RV - paying for the dealer's PDI. Fortunately no big problems until our batteries caught fire recently (new AGM batteries that I put in 3 months ago). Next time, will forgo the dealer's PDI and pay for an independent inspection. Worth the money!
Biggest part about hiring an RV inspectors you would do the same thing for a house you got to be completely blind if you don't hire an RV inspector especially you two you people are awesome keep up the good work
I appreciate you two and your videos. I haven't bought an RV yet, still in the research phase. Is it normal for dealers to charge customers for a PDI? Shouldn't that be included in the price of the RV?
If you are paying for a dealer PDI ( Probably Didn't Inspect ) you are right to be challenging that "fake" charge. You're better off with a "real" inspection by a thorough inspector. In and out is their MO...do not fall for that hidden charge...shop around to compare prices out the door. That will give you a good idea of how much you should pay for your unit before inspection. Some informative videos are coming about the subject...🤙
@@blueoxontherun9188 You got that right. We waited 8 months for our unit and when we went to take delivery it was in horrible condition and they refused to do anything about it. I had a cashiers check for the full amount and we ended walking away.
