I had one of these spreaders since 2005. Love the hook up and the way it spreads. But I replaced 3 transmissions in it and for the last 7 years I downsized a lot but kept spreader to do the four places I still have to salt. When I go from job to job a lot of times you have to get out and spin the spinner to get it to start spreading. I don’t have those wi g nuts on mine. My spreader actually start n stops itself : times before the spinner keeps running. It’s great when it works. My next one will be a snow ex. They come with small auger to get the salt to the spinner and a vibrator standard. Love my boss plow. No problems in 15 years. Please. Check out the snow ex tailgate or salt dogg spreaders before you make your purchase.
My Snow Ex would do the same thing my advice don’t pre fill it the bouncing around while drive from site to site basically compacts it down I just fill it when I need it and about how much.
Helped get me out of a jam on my first property of the night. I think from now on before I load my hopper, I'm going to run the motor with the hopper empty for a few seconds to break everything free.
never leave hopper with salt in when not using, doesnt matter the size. i will also say a proper washout after every use will keep u problem free and looking good for yrs to come. just some tips i’ve learned the hard way over the yrs.
mr cumminsforlife I just realized that with my atv spreader, I left calcium pellets in there thinking it’ll stay dry because it has a top cover but it actually collected moisture through the bottom even though the latch for dispensing is closed!
I always started mine before I filled it and it worked for 8 years mi e was AWSOME and when it did get plugged I got out and gave it a good jerk and away she’d go I have a western tornado now

Dude!!!! You saved my ass! I had same issues as you! I made the adjustment and it worked!
@@charlesmorris3581 awesome!! 👊
Getting one of these installed on Friday. Thanks for solving this problem for us before we get it!
Sweet, I’m getting 2 more in November

Makes sense. I have a western 2500 and if the gates are closed it will throw an error light. Open them up, no problem.
Did the same exact thing, also with an audience, your right the manual doesn't say squat about those wing nuts, once I opened it up, worked great

Glad it helped. I know I was frustrated the day it happened to me.

Try not to leave salt in the hopper .The salt we'll eventually harden up and clog up. Love the set up tho so nice

Just had this exact problem. Thank you so much man.
more content like this about the salting and plowing. I like the salter...mounts to the hitch and rests on the bumper...no strap needed?
rbljackson yes it still requires 2 straps. It’s big and heavy.
Always start salter before filling it is our policy.
Is that spreader decent? Can you spread several acres without refilling?
Steven Seagal would chop chop the spreader to make it work again.......
Same exact thing happened to me. Same spreader.
What type of salt did you use in the system
Purple heat
How do you fill it ?
HOLY OLD SCHOOL
Great video!
