Two years ago, I bought my first unicycle, a V11. I had no idea how to ride it until I stumbled upon this video and followed Mr. Phillips' instructions. That day, I rode 86 km on my unicycle, and I haven't stopped since. Later, I upgraded to a V12 HT and recently sold it with 9200 km on it. Today, I'm a happy owner of a Begode EX30. I want to thank Mr. Phillips for his tutorial; it allowed me to enter the world of EUC and enjoy it to the fullest in just a few hours. Greetings from Argentina. My respects.
Your method is awesome, I followed your step by step process and learned it in one day. I have the inmotion v12. I went from thinking I would never ride it to an expert and I now enjoy riding it every day.
This video is brilliant and very important. I love your approach and wish we saw more beginner videos in all activities with such practical, down-to-earth advice. I'm sure you are by now an expert rider yet you relate so well to we newbies. Thank you.
Great video - one thing I found helpful mounting the wheel is to keep it under your body and not out front too far ... so when you push with the left foot, lean a bit with the right shoulder and get that wheel moving while you bring up the other foot ... not a huge push or lean ... just enough to buy you time to get the other foot up onto the pedal ... then with both feet on .. standup and look straight ahead and enjoy cruising around in large circles .... scariest part is when you venture out onto a bike path and you're faced with oncoming kids or families on bikes ... ie staying in your lane .. lol. This hobby is life changing for the better.
So many thanks! Watched this video 3 times and then go try your instructions on my new V12. I am actually riding it on a grass ball field. When I fall no problems then on pavement it is so easy now. Thanks again for your time and excellent video 🎉
Thanks so much for making this video. I got my first EUC a few days ago and I followed your steps as well as the one from u-ride and I can now mount and ride without needing a fence or rail or anything. There's nobody local to learn from so I had to rely on videos to learn. It would have been so much harder trying learn without your video. Thank You!!!!!!

I am shook by the power this wheel has and I have only scratched the surface of its potential. New folks: Dont get discouraged if your first day is full of struggle. Just keep at it as much as you can and then sleep on it. Day 2 was miles easier and more fun than day 1 and both my friend and i managed to do laps around a parking lot!

I was like if he can do it than my 40 year old a$@ can do it too!
I’m late, but I appreciate your work. Got a v8s on a good deal, going to get it down and keep it as a light duty ultra portable wheel and get a second (or third, let’s be real) wheel for having fun. I’m not a high tops guy, and that’s been my main thing. Man, has it bit my ankles a few times. 2 hours in, I’m up and rolling, just gotta improve. I’m a scooter and ebike guy, I can see what this is going to be once I get going. A 30 pound thing I can throw in the trunk and go 30 miles at up to 22 is awesome. Keep it local or extend out from a car. I can’t wait to get good and get a real high power one, so versatile and fun and removes the whole parking situation. Just bring it inside.

awesome video! I'm about 2 weeks into learning on a KingSong 18XL - this is one of the better set of tutorial videos I have seen (out of dozens I've watched!). I'd love more on turning - that's an area I feel less comfortable as a novice rider. Thanks, and FREAKING GREAT JOB JAMESON!!!!
😜😜 thanks bro. It’s been such a process. It’s been a lot of fun. My son be whipping around it’s crazy. I can remember my day one video. 🤦♂️🤦♂️ we were struggling.
I really did not go into too much detail about that because it will come in naturally turning while moving this slow. I try and out a little pressure in the opposite leg of the direction I am trying to turn. When I was turning on the first day I would loose balance anyway and just go with it and would turn automatically. 🤟
I started out on a veteran Sherman v3. I was literally riding it down the road 30min I'm a sport rider mountain Unicyclist For the past 22 years , I kind of hit the ground running . I took it slow for a week the Sherman is a beast of a wheel , Awesome amounts of power .1700 miles of Absolute heaven
After riding electric scooters for the pass 10 months, finally bought an EUC (Kingsong 18L) should be here by tomorrow.. I'm hyped to learn.. Happy I found this video...🔥🔥
Nice. You will enjoy that wheel. It’s very nice. Does almost everything well. Do t forget to subscribe. I am also in IG would like to see your progress.

MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent you're the best brother! Thanks for all you do for the community. I bought a Gotway Tesla and beat myself to death trying to ride it. Moved over to skate and hadn't touched the Tesla since then. I am about to dust it off, wish me luck!
@@econnak7909 Charging it up now! My biggest problem is turning and wobbles. I've watched other videos on YT but can't seem to find anything specifically on those topics. This thing also beat the crap out of my ankles, but I am going to try again.
@@Isahiyella wobbles will happen during the learning process, the more you rode it though, the faster you get better at it. Soon enough it will feel like second nature to ride it.
@@Isahiyella sounds silly just get mad comfortable moving at like 10-15 Mike’s am hour. Just protective turning and such. Forget speed for now. Just get comfortable.
Two things that got me on without falling off in 2seconds, I used a old persons walker and also tried a shopping cart. They can roll besides you allowing turning. I bought the same wheel he has as it comes with a protective cover. In an hour I was going down the street.
The key points for me in this video: Don’t hold onto handle when starting Soft foot placement and step into moving forward. Up and running in 10 minutes. Probably a lifesaver of refinement but thrilled to be up and running right off on my first day.
Thank you for the video. Me and the wife appreciated your time and advice. You broke it down in easy to relate terms. Simple, straight forward, concise. Obviously you're son paid attention! Lol. Good vid. More please. Take care and be safe. J & D.
Awesome. I am glad the video helped you guys out. When I was trying to learn I felt like a lot of other tutorials missed things. What do you guys ride?
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent We bought the Tesla V3. We're also into Escooters as well. We own 2 Varla Eagle 1s, and a new Yume X7. The euc is a new direction for us.
Great vid, hands down best beginner tutorial I have seen. I am a week into it and I've been out every day getting a little better each time. I had a lot of the same experiences as you. To be honest I came into it thinking I'd pick it up faster than I did because I'm usually a fast learner with stuff like this, but it took me a while. Don't get discouraged out there! I like your comment about muscle memory, this is a whole new thing for your body to learn using muscles that you wouldn't use much normally, and you'll get fatigued fast when you are starting out, so go in short bursts each day. I also found that controlling direction was a big challenge for me until I paid attention to shifting weight to the opposite foot (turn left by pushing gently off your right foot). I'm going to practice your push off start technique because the start and stop is always where I still have trouble. One last tip is be prepared when you go up or down a steep hill for the first time because it is a really weird feeling! The wheel naturally stays upright so its like you're riding an escalator not a wheeled vehicle if that kind of makes sense.
You are so correct how quickly you get tired when learning. It’s like every muscle in the body is working so hard. The opposite pressure to turn is so correct as well. I like what you said about the short burst. I posted in a group or two and everyone kept saying they learned in an hour. Everyone does not learn that way. Most of the people I know take a few days to ride safely. Like you said the key is to not get discouraged. Everyone learns on their own timeline.
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent Yeah absolutely, pace yourself and have fun with it! It's challenging but rewarding when it starts to come together. Every small improvement is an achievement when you're trying something new.

Hey fellow riders. I hope that you enjoy the video. What are some additional tips you would give to new riders? Over the last few weeks I have ridden so many wheels Sherman, C11 S18.... and it’s been fun. Don’t forget to like subscribe and share 🤟
Oh ok, I'm in Australia. I don't have a huge budget. I've seen the inmotion v12 for around 3000 which I'm considering. I don't want to buy an underpowered one first just to have to upgrade in a few months. As U could imagine that could get wayyy too exy
If you're a beginner and still scared of narrow places - probably because you're afraid of falling at really slow speeds - try watching some UC riders' videos (UCs, not EUCs). You'll see that's a lot easier, on an EUC, to try to mimic someone riding an UC. "If they trained and can, I sure can, as well. Just a matter of training enough - the right way."
Great video. I really liked the way you broke everything down in a simple step by step process then explained what you were doing. in each step I'm crossing over from e scooters to my first wheel which will probably be a KS 16X.
Great video. Mindset is very important. My first wheel V5f was a learning wheel and falling is part of the process. My legs were beat up and my wheel was beat up. I did judo, so falling is an option. I only stick a rubber bumper to protect the headlight.
If your wheel is heavier or you have a problem falling towards your dominant leg when mounting tilting it slightly until you correct it to the upright position does help for some as well still great tips!
Superhelpful vid! Personally my biggest hurdle is just when you first time everything your body is so tensed up every single crack, ridge, bump doesnt get absorbed 😅 learning to trust your gear and yourself takes a lot of patience. might help to find a crack/bump/uneven terrain and just driving over that repedeately or how to slow down before it, after training the basics.
I learned in about 30 min in a big grass field. I just went for it, dropped wheel a couple dozen times and then just got it. Took to a running track and started learning turning there for several laps then went to greenway here in winston salem nc and rode about 18 miles....now im addicted to my euc. I ride a kingsong 16x. Disclaimer ive skateboarded for decades, and skate a halfpipe i have in my back yard so my balance is a bit better then your avg joe
Hey bro thanks a lot for ur time making this vid , I’m getting one tomorrow and I’m new to it , it was very helpful watching ur videos that’s a lot , also great family, was nice seeing they standing by u
I have to add that Its also helps a lot before you even try to ride it to go into a doorway of sort hold yourself and just drive back and forth to get a feeling of the wheel and how it reacts
Thank you very bunches. Going to try everything you just showed me this weekend. Calm isn't my middle name. Very scary machine. But I will learn it, before getting a bigger one.

Thank you for this video! Just order my first EUC and watching as many videos as I can before I ride . Your video gives me more confidence on how to start 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Pretty good video, thank you! I wish you would cover the turning. Never rode euc, but i have a hunch, that it could be useful for beginners to try this: before you even touch the thing, just stand on the ground and shift your weight front and back, while keeping your body in the same pose, dont allow your joints to bend, let it strain your muscles. It seems that it is what happens when you ride euc. Keeping position, shifting weight. Maybe its good to hold something the same width as the wheel between your legs. Another thing, it seems that whats wrong with looking on the wheel is that as you look down, you instinctively shift your torso forward, shifing weight and unintentionally give comand to go forward or something. So, to combat this, while doing this previous thing, as you rock front to back, look forward, than down, fw and down, while controlling the weight shift. The goal is to prevent additional weight shift as you move your head. Maybe you could just look around in all directions, even back, to get used to real life riding awareness needs. Also, as you rock on the ground (or even just standing) try to bend your knees, and go almost straight again, down and up, while keeping the center of mass of your body at the same vertical line, dont shift it front to back more than you did while rocking. That way you train to change position from standing to bent knees for absorbing bumps.
Wrist guards i recommend roces , boneless elbow and kneepads also wrist guards from skin are pretty good have aluminum reinforcement and new okd stock is still available even 20 years after the company shut down im a former Aggressive inline stuntskater and use the equipment i had in the 90s it helps

Glad that we could help. Did you get a chance to check out my PEV documentary electric pioneers in Tubi link.tubi.tv/lgSEB0yf8Hb
Your method is awesome, I followed your step by step process and learned it in one day. I have the inmotion v12. I went from thinking I would never ride it to an expert and I now enjoy riding it every day.
Nice work!
This video is brilliant and very important. I love your approach and wish we saw more beginner videos in all activities with such practical, down-to-earth advice. I'm sure you are by now an expert rider yet you relate so well to we newbies. Thank you.
🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾 thank you. Glad I could help.
Awesome. Glad I could help

I tried my new EUC for the first time this video already teaches me one thing for next time. Step on the EUC slowply, dont stomp.

"Get of the wall" you didn't even know you was being deep!
*Update* it's been 3 days and today I took it outside! The simple saying "get of the wall" helped me so much mentally made me more confident in learning how to ride. Just want to say thank you!! Plus your son was motivation too!

🤦♂️🤦♂️ we were struggling.
nice video and tutorial. What I personally missed in almost all tutorials is how you exactly make turns on a EUC :-)
I really did not go into too much detail about that because it will come in naturally turning while moving this slow. I try and out a little pressure in the opposite leg of the direction I am trying to turn. When I was turning on the first day I would loose balance anyway and just go with it and would turn automatically. 🤟

MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent you're the best brother! Thanks for all you do for the community. I bought a Gotway Tesla and beat myself to death trying to ride it. Moved over to skate and hadn't touched the Tesla since then. I am about to dust it off, wish me luck!
Oh yeah dust that bad boy off. Some in the crew are all EUC now. 😀😀🤦♂️
Yep, you are definitely missing out on what the EUC can do, just keep at it and you will get the hang of it soon enough.
I heard the siping cart trick is helpful. Glad you are up and moving.
The key points for me in this video:
Don’t hold onto handle when starting
Soft foot placement and step into moving forward.
Up and running in 10 minutes. Probably a lifesaver of refinement but thrilled to be up and running right off on my first day.

@@Catamount19 I really like the nikola Sherman is good too.
Oh ok, I'm in Australia. I don't have a huge budget. I've seen the inmotion v12 for around 3000 which I'm considering. I don't want to buy an underpowered one first just to have to upgrade in a few months. As U could imagine that could get wayyy too exy
How's the s18 sir. Thinking of getting one for my first. I'm also looking at mcm5 and v10f for different reasons
I know its 3 yrs old but....great video! Been thinking about getting one.
Great instruction thank you
just got my first euc this review really helped well explained.
I hear that. It’s such a fun process once you get it. Thanks for sharing. 🤟🤟
Yes sir!!!
You’re right, a beginner teaching gives new perspectives. Thanks for sharing
This is the most valuable lesson that I see on youtube. Thank you so much. 🙂
