    Developer here!
Thank you so much for checking out the game! I'm honestly super surprised that people like it much as they do, considering the fact that I'm not even aiming to make the games anything grand or super original. I'm just doing it because it's fun, but also to get better experience on game development in general.
Massive props to Wolfdog, who made all of the sound effects and the soundtrack to the game. They nailed each song first try and put a lot of work into the animatronic's movement sounds alongside many others. This game would not be the same without their work! I'm glad you really liked the sounds and music and no doubt Wolfdog will be happy to hear that as well!
The development on Long Hours (the sequel) has been a challenge for me in so many aspects, and I'm really trying my best to ensure its gameplay is well balanced and enjoyable. It won't be perfect, but I'm very happy with how it's been turning out as of lately and I'm hoping people will enjoy it just as much or more than The Awakening.
Great video, and I'm really glad you enjoyed the game!

The animatronics stuffing you in a suit has always been the most crucial element of FNAF & has only ever been verbally incorporated in the lore, so to actually experience it after “finishing” your week is horrifically euphoric! & additionally, the manipulative handling of Blender - a software designed for 3D modelling instead of game building - adds some strenuous weight to the overall experience both atmospherically & aesthetically

I can't believe I'm not the only person who had a full on mental breakdown after seeing a bad 3D alien design in a kid's movie. Though for me it was the alien children at the beginning of Space Chimps. And instead of forcing my family to leave a theatre, it was at school and the result was me hiding in the bathroom for 30 minutes before heading back out to brave it, only to then hide under a desk until a teacher called my mom and took me home.

I mean I think it's more on how you present the model. Even though fnafs 4 designs are admittedly very corny when scrutinized, the fact that they lurk in the shadows in the tense gameplay before seeing this huge hulking thing lunge out, paying out the huge build up of tension with one loud screamer is effective. Another example is fnaw, I personally believe the 3rd game does so well to make these goofy models actually creepy with the environment and the different gameplay segments making it so you can't get used to any of the mechanics always keeps you on your toes

The most ironic thing is that that’s what Scott intended when making the original fnaf animatronics. They do look like regular animatronics who could probably entertain kids at day, but they easily look creepy at the same time. Innocent turned creepy.
Of course there are exceptions like fnaf 4 which uses stereotypically horror oriented designs, but it still works. It just depends on how you use it.

Some quick tips for players from what I've seen in the game.
Jimmy doesn't jumpscare you with too many shocks, but I believe every shock actually makes him faster and more aggressive.
Anthony is almost always faster than Greg. Anthony will always go through the middle and left vents. Greg will go through the right. If you keep one of the vents shut, you only have to check 2 vents instead of 3 which saves precious time. If Anthony is in one vent, you don't need to check the other.
The Figure will always make a sound when entering the vents. It is usually quiet and drowned out by other noise, but you can hear it if you listen closely.
The game gives you lots of leeway with the mask. Animatronics will only jumpscare you at the end of the sequence so you can afford to wait 1 second to seal a vent before throwing on the mask.

Some other hints I just remembered:
It's best to not let Feathersword move at all. If monitored enough, he will never leave the room.
Anthony will always start at the middle vent, then alternate between left and mid. If you shut the middle vent at the start of the night, you might not have to worry about the vents for almost an hour.
You can shock Jimmy even when you have the mask on if someone is in your office. This saves time to deal with the vents.
The figure starts moving at 2am and will usually attack immediately. For night 6 it's important to remember that if you keep one vent shut, you only have to check the other two instead of all three.

  • @davidthecommenter
    @davidthecommenter Рік тому +647

from what i know, the in-universe reason as to why you're not supposed to overuse the shock lever is because it essentially powers him, so jimmy just gets faster the more you use it.

In terms of childhood trauma, for me it was constant exposure to stuff that aimed to make statues, mannequins and the like scary. For example, I got into Doctor Who as a kid, knew what the Weeping Angels were but had never watched an episode with them in it specifically... And then I saw their introductory episode, Blink. Great episode but holy hell my small malleable child brain was not ready for that. I used to figure they just grabbed their victims or something but finding out they were ungodly fast when you weren't looking and their thing about sending people back in time, on top of seeing their older selves as a result with some basically on their death bed, you can bet 10-year-old me wasn't exactly keen on buying any toys of those fuckers
And not long after, I guess God randomly remembered "Oh fuck, I forgot to instill Automotonophobia into this stupid child, better fix that real quick" before inventing Scott Cawthon to make the games that would scare me with just the idea of being stuck with large, metal non-humans that can crush me like an Oreo cookie if they really wanted to. In particular, the way Bonnie would stare at the camera in the storage room gave me some fond childhood nightmares, and it gave me my first and currently only sleep paralysis experience, lots of fun. To this day I still feel sheer panic around statues of people, mannequins and animatronic mascots alike, absolutely swell

Okay, just started watching… No way someone made a fnaf fan game about those creepy ass wiggles puppets!? I was never scared of them as a kid but they certainly creep me the hell out now whenever I’ve rewatched the wiggles with younger siblings.
And apparently a sequel is in the works, I’m frightened and intrigued.

idk if this was a childhood fear but the designs in the show dirtgirlworld creeped me out so much as a kid (they still creep me out now tbh). refused to watch it as a kid. just, the merge of human eyes and lips on their very cartoony body was so uncanny valley. if someone made a horror game of that i would be absolutely terrified

That show was UNCANNY AF. For some reason it used to just gross me out, I think it was the bug characters + the fact the whole cast _never closed their freaky hyperrealistic mouths._

Blender actually used to have a game engine in older versions, it's discontinued now i think it was removed after the released of the 2.8 which is nearly 4 years old at this point
That also probably explains why the characters are soo low poly, blender's game engine wasnt the most powerful and older versions of blender arent very good at creating high poly characters, it's posible but in the last 4 years blender has improved a lot and made the act of creating high quality models much easier

I find it interesting that mark doesn't seem to be stuffed into a full animatronic suit, it looks like he's only been stuffed into an animatronic head. I don't understand why Mark would try to attack you instead of asking for help or at least remaining docile. Maybe his vision is all messed up so he thinks that you are an animatronic and not a person? If he thought you were an animatronic he could just be trying to get revenge on them. Idk.

His animations seem to imply that he thinks you're an animatronic and he's fighting for control with the head's AI. You can see him trying to reach out to you when you're wearing the mask.

Dear lord Aliens in the Attic. I thought I was finally safe from that movie. I dont recomend watching it, it tries to draw you in by being a corny and akward familty comedy flick, but just ends up being uncomfortable to watch the whole time through. Everyones just an a-hole to eachother and the jokes are mix of immature and super clear innuendos. I thank this film for creating my hatred of social interactions and noises from vents.
Anyway, I totaly agree that more horror games should be based on vaugue childhoood fears. Thats sorta why Fnaf got so popular it was the deep seated fear that most people had as a child of creepy animatronic mascots.
